When to have a Shower?

I know I have a long way to go, but ...

When is it appropriate to have a Shower?

Several people have offered to host a Shower for me, but they want to know when to host it.  As we live 3+ hours away, and my husband has a fluctuating work schedule, it isn't as easy as snapping my fingers and choosing a date.

Looking at the calendar, my preferred date would be June 26 ... which would make me one day short of 27 weeks, as I am due on September 26.

Personally, I am thinking that this is a little too early, but I am not sure of the "norm", as I am the first of my friends to have a baby, and the only Shower I have been to for a family member was held after my niece was born.

    Mine are at 33 and 35 weeks.

    Normally, anywhere after 30 wks. But with that said, I am having my first one around 27 wks; because it's about 10-hr drive from where we live, and this was the time that was available for the hostesses and the venue that they wanted. (I am due in July, and May is too busy for a lot of them, so they're pulling it a bit ahead to April). For my EDD, I would say May is ideal, about 6 wks or so before the baby's due date.

    Most I have been to the mother is 30-33 weeks along. I will be 32 at my shower. However, we had a small one for my SIL when she was in town before her baby was born (she lives a plane ride away). I think she was around 27 weeks.

    i have one at 35 weeks, one at 36 weeks and another at 38 weeks.

    Mine is tomorrow and I'll be 28 weeks.  It's a little early I think but it's the only time that would work for my work travel and family schedule.  Whatever works for you and your fam or friends is whats best :)  There's no right or wrong time in my opionion.

    Mine will be June 26th as well. I'm due 9/2 but my OB is estimating my c-section will be the last week of August. That date worked best of everyone planning it (and the room we needed was available). We didnt' want to have to wait until the very end of July as that is a VERY busy time for me at work and I don't think I could handle anything else at that time. I don't think there is a wrong timing. GL!

    My first is next week, so I'll be 26 weeks, and it is local (the one I have to drive 5hours to I'll be 33 weeks). I think everyone's lives are super busy and if that works for you, great. I don't know know why it matters. If I had to wait until 35ish weeks to see what we got and to have to deal with washing and putting away I'd be far too stressed and exhausted. So go with what your hostess and you can fit into your schedules.
