  • Weeks/Size: 20w2d

    Team (pink/blue/surprise): blue

    What's new with baby?: he's a banana now :)

Appointments?: had our anatomy scan today. It didn't go quite as planned. Turns out he has two cysts on his brain and we need to go in for a level 2 ultrasound to see what's going on. The doctor said it's very common and they usually resolve themselves but the scary thing I read when researching at home is its also an indicator of trisomy 18 and I can't imagine him dying before birth or shortly after so it's safe to say I'm a wreck.

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: we are working on setting up ds1's new room but I think I want to put that on hold until we know what's going on with these cysts.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: all the anxiety I had because of this being the first pregnancy following a miscarriage was escalated today. Hopping these next two weeks can go by quickly!

    Questions?:

GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy? Snickers!

Weeks/Size: 21 weeks on Wednesday. At the a/s, she was estimated at 12 oz.

    Team (pink/blue/surprise): Pink :)

What's new with baby?: She's doing this fun (not) new thing where she stretches my uterus way past my belly button on one side. It's deeply uncomfortable, but not too painful.

Appointments?: A/S was last week, so nothing until Dec 3rd.

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: I started a registry on Amazon to keep track of things I need.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Not much going on in this department. I'm laying in bed with a napping DD, smelling my crockpot chicken tacos cook, though. I can't wait!

    Questions?: Nada

GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy? Hmmmm. I love all things chocolate. Maybe Twix or KitKat.

    Team (pink/blue/surprise): Team blue
What's new with baby?: I'm feeling him squirm around more regularly, which is awesome. Apparently he's gotten a bit heavier as well, and is working on growing some bones (which is probably why I'm craving dairy).
Appointments?: My a/s is Wednesday, I'm so excited!
Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Today I picked out the newborn cloth diaper rental service I'll use, which felt really good. I also picked out a nursery paint color. Yay for progress!

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Still nauseated in the evenings. Boobs hurt. Fire crotch hurts. Tired still, I never got that second trimester energy. Moody as HELL. Pretty sure my husband and son are terrified of me.
    Questions?: Nothing this week.
GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy? Mmmm, there is no short answer to this, I LOVE candy! Skittles, Good n' Plenty, Starburst, Andes Candies, Rolos, Milk Duds, Twizzlers, and Peanut M&Ms to name a few. :)

That's why the doctor told me she hates telling parents because they usually resolve themselves but as the parent you can't help but think the worst. We have no other indicators of t18 so I'm hoping that I will have just worried for nothing.

    Weeks/Size: 22 in Wednesday

    Team (pink/blue/surprise): blue

What's new with baby?: his kicks are becoming much stronger if we times it right dh would be able to feel them. I had an anterior placenta with ds so I am really enjoying feeling little brother so frequently (I never felt ds with any regularity).

Appointments?: I saw the doctor last week she said all looked good. Next appointment will be my 1 hour glucose on 11/17.

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: we picked out colors for baby and for ds (we moved into our house a year ago and never painted). Mil seems to want to spend some money (I am definitely not complaining) and has asked us to pick out a dresser for ourselves and the nursery and a cool bed for ds. I am feeling very spoiled.

    Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings:
I am starving!!! All the time. Also I have had btx this week. I had a pretty bad anxiety episode this weekend but I feel like I am finally turning a corner on it. I was about a day away from calling the doctor.

Questions?: so I never felt any contractions with ds. No btx and I never made it to active labour due to unexplained heart decels (emergency c section revealed the cord wrapped twice around his neck). So in not sure what is normal, but just wondering how often people feel btx and how strongly they have felt them? Twice today it was so strong I had to stop what I was doing and sit down.

GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy? I live candy corn/pumpkins and Reese's, whoppers, and twix.
  • Weeks/Size: 22 weeks/ papaya
Baby Kade weights a little over a pound now. :)

    Team (pink/blue/surprise): blue

What's new with baby?: Movements are getting stronger. Fiancé was actually able to feel him during his active hour last night. :)

    Appointments?: 11/5

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Bought some clothes finally! Also, I haven't updated my registry since finding out the gender 2 weeks ago, so I'll probably work on that soon.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Indigestion/ craving salt. Literally ate half a lemon the other night covered in salt. Oops.. Lol.

    Questions?:

GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy? Sour patch kids!
  • @stormiewinter - with DD2 I had Braxton HIcks like crazy. They were pretty much constant as long as I wasn't sitting still. Sweeping the floor, bending over, walking up or down stairs, walking in general, all gave me BH. By 35 weeks or so, they were timeable. I'd get them every 4 minutes even while sitting still on the couch. But my Dr. said as long as you can breathe/talk through them it was nothing to worry about. And I definitely knew the difference when the real contractions started. For me, at least, real contractions started in my back, then crept forward into my stomach. And they were so painful I had to stop and breathe. The BH were just annoyingly uncomfortable.

  • Weeks/Size: 20 weeks

Team (pink/blue/surprise): finding out tomorrow :D

What's new with baby?: lots of baby movement.

    Appointments?: A/S is tomorrow

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: started buying little things here and there.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Hormones, and yeast infection from the antibiotics I had to take (DD passed on her strep throat to me). OH! And the joyous hemorrhoids..... Can't say it's been my best week.

    Questions?: nope.

GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy? Omgoodness, pretty much all chocolate bars. Buuuut if i had to choose just one coffee crisps would be my go too.
  • Weeks/Size: 21/Pomegranate (tomorrow)

    Team (pink/blue/surprise): BLUE!

What's new with baby?: Starting to feel him more and more consistently - it's been hard since anterior placenta.  Seriously can't wait until DH can feel him.

    Appointments?: Next is 11/10

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Ha, yeah no.  Just eating since I lost 7 pounds with stomach flu/pneumonia - thankfully being sick hasn't seemed to affect him.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Just trying to heal from my week of hell last week.  Nothing really pregnancy related, although I was pretty worried not eating was going to affect baby.  He seems to be moving around just fine though.

    Questions?:

GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy? Probably Reeses Peanut Butter Cups
    DS1 - 9/21/11
    DS2 - 7/4/14
    DS3 - 2/21/16

DS2 I had irritable uterus - the mix between BH/real happened all the time.  And it would be after ANY activity - just walking across the room and my uterus would seize up like the jaws of life.  I did have to go in a few times for timeable/breathe throuh ctx starting at 18 weeks.  None of them caused cervical change so it was more an annoyance the entire pregnancy.

Team (pink/blue/surprise): Just found out today, TEAM BLUE!!

What's new with baby?: We learned during our sonogram today that baby is very active and the tech described him as feisty lol (just like his daddy). Starting to feel him moving around in there and it's simply amazing!

Appointments?: 11/24 - have to have another sono done because little man wouldn't stay still or move into the correct position to get all the images of his heart needed.

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Deciding on what color to paint the nursery, and getting decor together!

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Still craving ice cream ALL the time. Sleeping better since I was gifted a Snoogle pillow as an early shower present but still getting some lower back pains every once in a while.

  • @mrspepper05 @skruhmin thank you! Gives me a much better idea of when I should worry. They are really uncomfortable, but not unbearable. And definitely not timetable. Just random although seem to be if I am especially active, or if my bladder is too full.

    Weeks/Size: 20 today - banana!!

    Team (pink/blue/surprise): Team Green :)

What's new with baby?: swallowing several ounces of amniotic fluid a day. Kicking mama a lot since this time last week, so much that DH has felt them on occasion. Amazzzzzzing

    Appointments?:
Check in with midwife Thursday morning.
Level 2 ultrasound Thursday afternoon. Bright spot was found on baby's heart but in all other respects babe is perfect. Midwife said no cause for concern and level two u/s is just protocol. Will be asking for prayers on Thursday!

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Not really, am I way too chill? I added like three things to my registry....

    Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings:
Peeing all the live-long day. Craving hearty food like chicken pot pie.

    Questions?: nada

GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy? :x

Mostly candy from Ireland that's hard to find here like Crunchie, Mint Aero and especially Malteasers. I quite like almond joy though when I'm here. I also love all types of gummy candy. Especially if it's been in the freezer....

Eta @KMKaiser07 thoughts and prayers to you. I can empathise xx

    What's new with baby?:
according to the "halfway mark" baby is sprouting toothbuds and eyelashes, practicing breathing, and starting to make meconium

    Appointments?:
had our anatomy scan today, and then an OB follow-up; healthy baby!!! So happy!!!

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?:
    eh, nah, not this week

    Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings:
20 pounds gained in 20 weeks - I'm always the one encouraging my friends not to get hung up on numbers and to love yourself and I feel like such a hypocrite bc I am feeling so, so uncomfortable with myself right now; I gained 70 pounds with my first, and started out higher to begin with and I didn't have these body issues! And I shouldn't even complain at all, but hormones or something are really affecting my brain this time. And still I just want to constantly eat.

    Questions?:
anything for preventing nighttime leg cramps besides water and bananas?

    Weeks/Size: 21 tomorrow--Pomegranate! That seems so big!

Team (pink/blue/surprise): Pink...or a girl who likes to wear blue is just fine with me!

What's new with baby?: She has her lifetime supply of eggs already in her womb...6 million?! Whoa! She's also squirming away in there.

Appointments?: 2 more weeks until the next one.

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Told everyone about her being a girl this weekend. My in-laws bought us the crib bedding we had on our registry. I'm adding gender-specific items this week. :)

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: I can't remember what I was going to put for this! Gah! Pregnancy brain!
    *edited because I remembered!!
I must be sleeping really oddly on my hands and twisting my wrists in my sleep. I'm sure I did this before pregnancy, but now it wakes me up, and I have completely numb or pins-and-needles hands and fingers. I Googled to see if it was a sign of anything worse, but all the links say it's a normal pregnancy symptom. I've tried wearing wrist braces to bed, as I have them for tendinitis when I play my instrument a lot, but my wrists hurt a lot in the morning from the imobility. Has anyone else experienced this in their sleep?

    Questions?: See above!

GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy? Almond Joy...thank goodness for the minis!
  • @jilloboe Yup, I've woken up to numb hands too. I have some carpal tunnel issues and had read that it can flare up during pregnancy because of the increased blood flow I think.
  • @oceanchild - I'm right with you at about 20lbs gained so you're not alone! I seem to gain a lot at the beginning and it's been slowing down recently. Hang in there and try not to be too hard on yourself!

  • Thanks @yodapup <3
@jilloboe I too get the carpal tunnel syndrome flares during pregnancy. Hate it!!! I used to work for an orthopod who had a fellowship in hand specialty, and I can't tell you how many pregnant women we saw with CTS! Night splints are an effective treatment, but I'm with you - they hurt me too much!

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: my stomach is getting bigger. I love it. But I had an accident on Saturday. I got burned on my stomach. It still hurts a bit.

    Appointments?: Next up is 11/10

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Not really, but we are gearing up to start our registry.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: I wonder what that magical 2nd tri energy feels like. I seem to have missed the boat. Been falling asleep on the couch pre-9pm almost every night. I'm running out of time to finish my Halloween costume at this rate.

Questions?: Can anyone recommend a website with performance reviews of baby products (car seats, strollers, etc.)? Husband wants to read more of the crash test ratings type stuff than "I love the color" comments before we register.

GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy? I love Snickers Almond, a little obscure I know. But I would never turn up an almond joy or anything that says Reese's on it.
  • Weeks/Size: 20 weeks Banana

What's new with baby?: baby's got working taste buds

    Appointments?: October 30th

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: c-section scar still hurts from the baby growing so big so fast

The consumer reports website is awesome - safety ratings and everything; we always check before we make any big purchases and I remember them being really helpful specifically when comparing carseats and strollers.

  • oceanchild I actually heard the consumer reports screwed up some reviews last time on some seats according to car seats for the littles. They are the ones I always go to when in doubt about a seat and / or needing a review.

Never heard of it, will have to check it out
  • Weeks/Size: 22 tomorrow, LO will be the size of a papaya or an ear of corn

    Team (pink/blue/surprise): Team Green

What's new with baby?: Supposedly baby is getting a sense of balance now and hears better. More distinct movements felt by me which is fun.

Appointments?: Next one is November 23

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?:
    Nothing new this week

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Feeling pretty good, the nightly leg cramps as soon as I get to bed is getting old. I'm drinking lots of water and eating bananas neither seem to help...

    Questions?: none

GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy? Snickers or Butterfingers have been my go to this year
  • Weeks/Size: 21 weeks/ size of a baseball cap

    Team (pink/blue/surprise): surprise

What's new with baby?: I am finally feeling movement that I am Tom but it is coming from him or her

Appointments?: I have to wait for more weeks, but at least we get another ultrasound since the baby was moving so much that they couldn't get good images of the heart during the anatomy scan

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?:
Putting up the chair rail in the nursery this weekend
    Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings:
Tired and having a lot of numbness in my left thigh
    Questions?:

GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy?
    Kit Kats or Hershey's bars
  • Weeks/Size: 18 weeks / sweet potato

    Team (pink/blue/surprise): don't know yet

What's new with baby?: practicing big people things :-)  I may have felt 3 kicks last night, but they were toward my vagina and very rhythmic which makes me think I'm still just feeling my heartbeat.

    Appointments?: A/S on November 11th :-)

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?:  Thinking more about a registry, the baby's r us near us is gross so I'm at a loss of where to go since that is the only place you can actually see things.

    Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: RLP has started occasionally

GTKY: For Halloween: What is your favorite candy? Kit Kat Bars hands down, but Junior Mints are nice too.
