I have nothing but love for our two babies. I have my baby girl Harlem, rescued from the side of the road and I adopted her 3 years ago. She's been with me through thick and thin. Leaving an abusive marriage and my single life and now my life with my beloved boyfriend/baby daddy. We adopted Trevor our collie/pit/mastiff the day we moved in together. He's nearly a year old now and can't wait to introduce them both to the baby! Remember folks! Prep the dogs for your first, they need to get used to not being number one 100% of the time.
We have a 3 year old yorkie (Roxy) and 1 year old mini dachshund (Doc) I love my fur babies but am afraid that we may have to send Doc to live with my MIL when the baby arrives because he is just not learning not to go to the bathroom in the house and I can not have a baby on the floor where he is constantly peeing and pooping!
@Katty422 Im so touched by your story. So amazing how things worked out with the baby being due on Lola's Bday. Sending ya happy thoughts! @TheBeggsBunch ....They sure are! They can be goofy, loving, and have such wonderful personalities. I love my chunky monkey oh so much!!
I had a rescue named Lola who just passed away on the weekend I found out that I was pregnant. May 31st...she was nine years old and had been battling lymphoma for 3 months. The disease took her so fast. I have been extremely emotional since her death. She was my baby girl my first baby. She was the one I told first before my husband that I was pregnant... To my suprise I found out that I am due on Lola's birthday 2/4/2016... you don't know how touched I was to find out that my "human" baby will share the same birthday as my "furbaby" ... its like Lola is watching down on me... love you &miss you baby girl!
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know what it feels like to lose a pet to lymphoma way too soon. I wasn't ready and I probably never would have been. That was over 10 years ago and I still get emotional thinking about it... Or could be the hormones. Either way, it's great to be able to share the memory with the birth of a new one!!
@Katty422 Thank you for sharing this. So sorry to hear of your loss, but the timing--wow. Undeniably this is to help ease your pain & may even be a way for your Lola to keep loving you although she had to leave.
Hey mommies-to-be, did you know that dogs literally, scientifically have the ability to LOVE us?
It's not JUST food or tennis ball motivation after all--that wagging tail & look in their eye is true love for you. Their sweet little doggie brains can secrete the chemical oxytocin which is the love/bonding chemical. This same chemical is secreted in the brains of us mommies when with our babies (when we are breastfeeding, for example!). Not all animals have this chemical love/bonding ability.
(...I tend to think some humans must lack oxytocin too--some political figures, some evil corporate CEOs?--although this isn't scientically proven, lol)

This is my Bubba, he is truly one of the best dogs I've ever owned. He is super patient with DD, she annoys the hell out of him sometimes but he always puts up with her and never walks away. He didn't really act different when I was pg with DD but this time he hovers. This time he sits right up against me and follows me everywhere
This is my dog Violet Rose--she's running for Chicago's top dog and she'd love your vote! (although you don't have to, of course. Not trying to shamelessly self-promote.)
Anyone else think their dogs know about the pregnancy? I'm only at 7 weeks, and today, my dog will not leave my side! She is literally under my desk with her paw on my foot right now! I really hope she adjusts well. I love her so much. I've had her for over 10 years.

Two fur babies! An almost 7yo German Shepherd, Denali & a 5yo kitty, Malachi. The cat thinks he's a dog since the German Shepherd raised him from a very young age. Love my fur babies!
This is a picture of DH with our two babies, Dash and Wally. They are brothers (believe it or not), and are chow/cocker spaniel mixes. These two can't wait to be big brothers.
I know this is an old thread but it's one oft favorites and I'm always looking at it!! I was just going through my albums and here's some of my favorites; we have one dog named Misschieff, she's been mine for 11 years now, we have a new kitten named Arwen and of course, my beautiful main coon Aragorn, who is king of the apartment and is an amazing cat! He's the one with no immune system sadly, otherwise he would be certified to visit sick children!
Also I included an old picture of myself and Aragorn, because to this day it's still my favorite photo!
We have 3 benzin is our oldest. She is a Rhodesian ridgeback mix. Bartleby is the middle kid he's a ... Cat. Haha. And Bune is the baby! He's a bloodhound Rottweiler mix! I had to post benzins baby picture. She was so pitiful. I got her from a shelter in 2013 a day before they were going to put her down. Bune was a freebie he just turned 1 this past July! They are so good with their nephew, Dean... Especially Bune. He loves lil baby Dean.
I have two. One is 1 and the other is 3. If they know I'm pregnant, then they are trying to assassinate our little one. It's a constant battle to keep them off my belly!
I have three big dogs! Bruno (Great Dane) Nik (Dane/lab mix) and Josie (brown one, she's a mix) they all know I'm pregnant and are always watching me I'm hoping they are going to be excited to welcome a new baby to their group!!
We currently have two fur babies! Bernard, who is a toy poodle and just about three years old who My boyfriend has from a previous relationship but has totally become my dog. He is utterly attached to me. He constantly lays his head right where baby is and listens to him. And then there is Miley. She is a chow lab mix who is about six years old. We just adopted her about a month before we found out we were expecting.

Danes are my weakness!!! When we get a house im getting one. Right now I work with a client with a pug, a mastiff, and an award winning agility dog, who is a Great Dane/lab mix, Of course! So beautiful. I love this thread so much!
Gunner is our big chocolate lab boy and Bodhi is our Pit mix. Love these boys with all my heart. They're so excited to be big brothers to our baby girl.
My boys Todd and Willie are ready to be big brothers!!! And the sibling cats (from the same litter) Earl and Meowyjane are too!! We recently lost our other fur baby ):

My heart breaks for you. I'm so sorry for your loss! Your fur babies are too cute though, baby will spoiled with love and nice accessories(fur)
Mine are both mut pups. "Fella" is a lab mix, pretty brown muscular pup with big "I Didn't Do Anything Wrong" eyes and "Lady" is jet black and has pretty blue eyes, no idea what she is. They have been really clingy lately and very protective whenever my cat "Tiger" comes near me lol I feel so bad for him. No good pic, sorry.
I have a 3 year old German Shepard/ husky mix named Booker! I got him when I graduated from college and was single with no job...I found my husband and a job within 3 weeks later! This spoiled cutie is my good luck charm! He's now waiting to be a big brother to a little sister!

This is our Dane Atticus! He will be a year this thanksgiving. We are a bit nervous to have him around a new baby but think he will adjust well! He is the sweetest but not the most graceful so our only worries are accidents as he weighs 130+ and isn't quite done. He is phenomenal with our 6 year old and such a protector!
