Side effects from progesterone suppositories?

Hey everyone,

I am 10dpiui and convinced the timing was off (my chart shows ovulation the day after IUI) - so I don't think I am pregnant. That being said, I started the progesterone suppositories 2dpiui just in case and since yesterday I have been nauseous and also constipated (I am usually VERY regular - to the hour).  My husband told me to test this morning and it was BFN. Anyone else have these side effects from the progesterone suppositories? I had a cancerous kidney tumor removed earlier this year and every abdominal/pelvic symptom freaks me out.

Re: Side effects from progesterone suppositories?

  • Progesterone always causes me to have "pregnancy-like" symptoms.  It's VERY constipating to me, makes me tired, makes my breasts tender, and last cycle I took it, I also had some nausea.  It screws with your mind!!!  :(

  • During that 2ww, you just have to ignore all your symptoms. It took us 3 attempts at IVF before we got our first and only BFP. The progesterone mimics pregnancy symptoms so I literally felt no different when I was pregnant compared to the embryo transfers that were unsuccessful. All you can do is wait. And I know how tough that can be.

  • Thanks, ladies!  I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something else going on with me health-wise. I'm pretty sure we will be heading for another round of IUI next cycle.
