Trying to Get Pregnant

Halloween plans include drinking

edited October 2015 in Trying to Get Pregnant
So I got a question for you ladies. My Temps haven't showed ovulation yet, but FF says that now thru this weekend is my fertile time. The two usually coincide together. My question is if this week is successful, implantation would be towards the end of next week.
Our Halloween plans are to go out to a costume party where there will be alot of alcohol. I'd like to say that I'm a one or two drinks and I'm good kinda girl, but unfortunately I'm not. So my question is can heavy alcohol consumption hender implantation?
I know I'm once again putting the horse before the carriage.

I don't have any real advice but I wanted to say that I too am a worry-wart about things like that and am interested in the answers you get. Good luck!

Edit: Because I forgot to type coherent thoughts.

  • I don't think so?? I am sure there are just as many alcoholics out there (not saying you are one OP) as there are people who get pregnant & don't know it that have drank multiple times & everything works out. I believe that you don't start sharing a blood supply until 6 weeks?? So even if you weren't tracking your cycles technically if you found out early enough & stop the heavy drinking you'd be ok.

  • @FloridaStanley, we are "benched" but we are still having sex. And yes the plan is to wait a few more months but in the meantime, plans are just that... plans. And if I do get KU in these few months then, I don't want to do anything to jeopardize that pregnancy.
  • Thanks ladies.
  • Just confused because this is what you wrote in the "benched" thread. Along with many other times you've said you're not trying right now, that getting pregnant wouldn't be smart right now. So wouldn't that mean this question abound alcohol and implantation is a moot point?

I'm benched til at least November. Possibly even longer, due to insurance purposes. But in the meantime, we are still BD anytime we want, and it's actually kinda nice to know it's because we love each other and we actually can do it for fun. Kinda feels nice to just go with it and not have to worry about whether or not the timing is right.

  • Again @FloridaStanley, we are more or less back to not preventing pregnancy. As opposed to using preseed, and trying to hit all my fertile days, and checking CP. The only reason I'm temping this cycle is so I don't get out of habit of doing so next month and to keep a focus the regularity of my cycle.

@AshleyGemini24 : in my mind benched =/= NTNP. If you are benched because your insurance is being a fucker (I have empathy there) then you'd be actively preventing (condoms). If you are NTNP (like me) it's no biggie-- it's just not quite the same thing as being "benched" for medical or financial reasons. For many of us here benched = preventing pregnancy all together. I think that's why some are wondering why you are worried about drinking during your fertile period. If you were benched (TTA) then it wouldn't matter. Though honestly, as I've said (and PP), many of us are in the "drink till it's pink" camp anyway. Just thought I'd try to explain why I was confused about terminology. Cheers! :-D

I'm benched starting next month due to financial reason.  We were NTNP up until this point and I'm technically in my TWW.  We're going to a Halloween party this weekend and I plan to have a drink.  In fact, I also plan to have a glass of wine tonight.

I'm also in the camp of "drink till it's pink"     If you're that concerned, why can't you limit yourself to one drink.   I have a glass or two of wine every weekend,  but I never get drunk.   I'll get a little buzzed, but that's it.   As long as you're not stupid drunk, I don't think it would be an issue.

    Lol
  • Yeah I was confused. If you haven't ovulated yet and you don't want to get pregnant right now for insurance reasons then why are you having sex during your FW and hoping for
    Implantation? That is called TYGP.

I got KU with DS in early December and didn't find out until Dec 24th. Many Christmas parties were enjoyed in the meantime :s Everything was fine.

Try your best to take it easy, maybe bring stuff for a cordon cocktail and drink one of those in between each of your alcoholic drinks to keep yourself in check?

But in general, drink (in moderation) till it's pink ;)
  • I drank an entire bottle of wine plus a little more the day before I got my BFP with DS. He was fine. Drink. It will be fine.

  • As far as I am aware, no it shouldn't. I go by drink till it is pink! If anyone has further research in this area I would be really interested in reading it :)

  • What about delaying to see if it's pink so you can drink? Like till 16DPO. Sorry to jump on question.
  • I believe I'm in my FW now and just drank a hella lot last night. Really feeling the repercussions right now (patron can go to hell) but I really don't think it's going to cause any issues to my process.

Clearly ladies I was mistaken in the true meaning of "benched".
I was hoping that by saying I am embarrassed and feel like an idiot, we could let sleeping dogs lie and move on.
@jolydan I would not use the "accident card" because babies aren't accidents.
@BumpAdmin can we close this please?

What did you think benched meant? You are still actively charting and trying how did you think that meant benched?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I feel you kind of want to get pregnant but pretend you don't want to and then could play the "it was an accident card" if it does happens....

I'm mobile so i can't search as easily but her first post saying they were taking time off of ttc because of job stuff said it would be bad to have a baby now so of course we'll get pregnant omglolz
    ..insensitive to say the least.
