My nipples are SUPER dry/cracking/itchy. I have very dry skin even pre-pregnancy, though, so I guess I wasn't surprised. ha. I rub coconut oil into them every morning, then again at night + cocoa butter. It's working great so far. Though, oddly enough, my areolas got lighter rather than darker. Funny!
Anyone get a lot of sharp stomach pains? I'm 12 weeks 4 days FTM and getting pains in my lower abdomen and sides. They are not after sneezing just randomly. I also have lower back pain and some more persistent aches and pains. Thankfully I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow to ask.
@reisnersr I have exactly what I think you're describing. They're sharper when I sneeze or when I try to poop, but even sitting at a desk or lying down, they're present
I have the worst blocked nose ever. I panicked before thinking i couldn't breath. Its so uncomfortable. I cant find any relief. I am 13 weeks. I have been nauseous and also constipated. I also am always hungry and if i dont eat i feel sick. Also get the hiccups all the time.
Anyone else having pregnancy "blues"? I feel so down these couple of days and I am not motivated to do anything. I haven't left the apartment in 4 days and while I have a lot of things to do I can't seem to find the motivation for anything. Sigh.
@elasticheart13 I can relate. I haven't even done my stretching exercises for 3 weeks now, and I can feel my shoulders all heavy and tight. Till last week the most important part of my day was eating. Now I'm very blah about everything. Even shopping isn't appetizing because I don't want to have to use public bathrooms all the time, nor do I wanna keep going in and out of changing rooms! Sitting or lying down rocks. :S
I'm having boob weirdness. Does anyone know if it's normal to have really dry nipples already? My skin there is super dry and looks almost cracking and there is even a discolored area as well! It's like darker there! What the heck? The boobs themselves even look lopsided now too.
I can't comment on the dryness and cracking as I have psoriasis (yep, there too...) but I have started seeing dark spots on my aureoles. I know they tend to get more veiny, so guessing this is fairly normal.
So my pelvic area/general lower belly suddenly got really hard and I've started cramping a lot... But from what I've read, this is normal, right? Edit: No bleeding, no constipation. Just swollen, hard, and crampy as hell.
I can't comment on how "normal" it is (FTM), but I've had this happen a few times in the past few weeks and all is well.
I went to the doctor today and she said sharp pains or general stomach pains are normal. My lower stomach pain was round ligament pain. Then my upper sharp pains were due To how your bowels are slowed way down.Though my pains were sudden and sharp, not as much crampy.

Where exactly was your lower stomach pain? I am having this moderately bad pain like below my stomach sort of, it's like right above my hip on one side and it gets worse when I get up from sitting and stuff. I was wondering if it was possibly the same cause.

My pain was in three spots: upper rib area on the sides were sharp stabs, lower abdomen on the sides were sharp and often, and some general achiness in the lower abdomen/pelvis area in the middle

Perfectly normal, but if you start to feel dismal, suicidal, or you don't pull out of it in a couple weeks, you should definitely talk to your Dr about it. Antenatal depression is a serious thing you don't want to ignore.
@Knottie9983816 it has gotten a little better and I am trying to keep a close eye on it. I have previous history with depression and anxiety and I am trying to not fall into it again. Luckily my husband knows when things are getting bad so even though he's not here with me he makes sure to call me all the time to check up on me. But thank you for your concern *hugs*
yes! it is accompanied by a general sense of malaise and i dont want to go outside eitherwhich in turn makes me feel guilty. uuugggh. i hope this passes quickly.
Anyone else's hormones driving them insane? One minute I'm happy and content with life and then the other I feel like everything is crashing down around me! I feel bad for my husband, I don't know how he's handling my mood swings. To be quite honest I feel like I'm going to end up driving him completely insane too. Ugh

A good friend of mine made me promise to go on a daily two mile walk. It's not a lot but it gets me out of bed and I get fresh air. It has improved my mood significantly and I feel less guilty. So if you can, try to do some daily physical activity.
Is bad ankle swelling normal at 17 weeks? I feel like that's a dumb question, I always hear about pregnant women's feet and ankles swelling but I thought that would come much later. I'm so paranoid about pre-eclampsia, swelling freaks me out.

I'm a FTM and I haven't noticed bad swelling yet, but if I don't drink enough water throughout the day my fingers swell and I have a hard time getting my rings off to shower. What's your diet like? Lots of salt? Enough water?
@AmadorRose I think I might need to try to drink more water. That's what the nurse said at my OB's office. I usually end up drinking between 40-60 ounces of water during the day, she wants me to drink at least 80. Hopefully that will help. I've noticed some swelling the last couple weeks but last night it was BAD and hurt a lot. I have an appointment with my OB in a few days so I'll def be asking about it. So far are my urine tests and blood pressure have been good so hopefully it's nothing more than needing more water.

I second the more water advice. A lack of it does cause swelling. I was also told to increase water intake during pregnancy, so those 8-10 glasses a day should be more like 12-14. ......as if we don't pee enough during the day! :-D
Anyone have sharp pains under their armpit next to their breast? It's the area where your arm rests when you're standing normally with arms down. First time that area's hurt.

I had this with DD last time. It started at around 16-17 weeks and never slowed down. Even drinking more water and getting rid of salt didnt help me. It got to the point that my hands, arms, feet, and legs would get tingly and go numb if i was resting on them for even 5 minutes. Definitely check with your doctor about it! Im only 15 weeks now and already my hands and feet get tingly if i stand to long or lay on my arm.
@kimey1 my armpits are the most painful part of my body right now! I actually have small lumps in mine. This happened in my last pregnancy and it turns out we have mammary glands that run from our armpits to our abdomen, and that some women's start to prepare for milk production just like those in our breasts. The first time around mine were so huge and painful I could barely lift my arms. This time they actually hurt more to just rest my arms against my sides. If this is the same case as you, I should warn you that when my milk came in they swelled up to the size of a golf ball and it was SO painful. I was worried they were going to stay like that the entire time I nursed, but once my milk production leveled out, they went back to normal. (I have heard of some women even leaking from their armpits!). This may or may my be your case though...
Also I wonder if I passed on these super productive mammary glands to my daughter bc she actually leaked milk from her nipple as a newborn! (I've heard this can happen to boys too) although I was told its actually my hormones producing the milk in them...crazy though!
Oh and I meant to add that this may not have anything to do with it. There are tons of nerves running through your armpits, increased blood flow, simply growing pains, lymph nodes if you may be fighting anything (I thought mine were swollen lymph nodes at first and freaked out), etc. I just wanted you to know that if your case is similar to mine you aren't alone. I felt like a freak until I met and read about it being rather common.
@Duendef Thanks so much for writing this! I dread reading stuff on WebMD but I didn't wanna think I had issues with my lymph nodes and have go get a mammogram! The sharp pain happened this week so I'll be on the lookout to see if it happens again.
Your daughter's nipples leaking is so odd and interesting. Can't believe the baby's organs are moving through the embillical cord to her body as I type. Growing a human is really so fascinating!
@joness11 yeah severe swelling isn't normal at 17 weeks. I didn't swell until 38-41 weeks with my first. Agree with the other ladies to up water intake and speak with your doctor if it doesn't improve!

@Joness11 compression stockings may also help. We use ace wraps on swollen joints, so I assume it would work the same way. I would ask your OB first, but it's probably a decent option. I plan on investing in a few pairs soon because of my family history of vericose veins. They're just so icky
This isn't necessarily a symptom, but I HATE starting new threads. Any STMs have experience with supposedly big babies? I've had 2 ultrasounds since my dating scan at 7 weeks. Both times I was asked if I was sure about my due date (once was in the ER and once was an elective sex screen). In the ER both the head of femur were measuring 2 weeks bigger than it should've been. The tech at the elective u/s literally said "Whoa, thats a big boy! Are you sure you're not closer to 17-18 weeks?" Well, I temped/charted and am positive about my ovulation dates. My daughter was only 7 lbs, but my husband and his brother were huge. DH was 22 inches 10 lbs full term, but his little brother was 24 inches and 12 lbs... 4 weeks early. They are both over 6'3" now.
So, back to my question... ladies who had larger babies- did your babies measure big throughout the whole pregnancy? I know all pregnancies are different, but I'm curious (and terrified to have to push out a 12 pounder haha).

My son was measuring big and I had to have an extra ultrasound. He was only 7 lbs 3 oz. I would try not to worry too much :-)
