Just based on the invitation that I received a few weeks ago, yes my sister sent me an invite to my own shower, it looks like it's going to be a glitter and pearls theme which i'm super excited about. My bridal shower was the most amazing shower I've ever been to so I'm really excited to see what she comes up with this time around. My family and I live for this stuff. I'm very lucky to have her.
My friend who's throwing our shower asked what our nursery theme is, so I assume it'll have something to do with that? Our nursery theme is Land of Make Believe and has things like mermaids and bigfoot, unicorns and the loch ness monster, haha. It's a fun theme.
My cousin is planning my shower, as she will be my sons godmother when he is born. She chose to do what she calls a "boy meets world" theme with lots of explorer/travel/map decorations which I am loving. I can't wait to see it all come together!
My shower is in three weeks and my mom and sister are doing a "Fall" in Love with Baby kind of thing. Autumn is my favorite season and even though I'm having a girl I prefer everything be gender neutral when it comes to colors and decor. That's just me though!
We were team green for my first. My husband and I really like Disney so they did Mickey Mouse. I am not a big fan of pastel baby animal type decor so they just decorated with red, yellow and black and had a banner, Mickey head center pieces and Mickey cupcakes. It was cute, but not over the top theme. I also hadn't really heard of a theme but my SIL requested one so that is what I chose.
No theme. My mom decorated in a fallish atmosphere since it is fall. But that's it. Plates were plain white plastic. Cups were clear. Was perfect. My MIL is doing sports theme because she likes themes. I would love it no matter what.
I guess my shower for my son was onesie themed. The invites had blue onesies on them and I had a onesie shaped cake that said "Here comes trouble". At the shower there were laundry ropes with onesies clothespinned to them. It was nice because the decorations were useful since they were clothes and there some that were witty and some for things we liked (Star Wars, Dallas Cowboys, Disney, etc). I felt like it was a good "theme" because it wasn't too matchy matchy, it reflected our personality.
Ours is more of a color scheme, pink and gray, and girly things. There's a beautiful fireplace in the room so we're going to do a "clothesline" of onesies stretching across the mantel. But it's a beautiful room, so minimal decorations are needed. Still have to finish the centerpieces..
My shower theme for DS was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. People were asked to bring a favorite book for baby with a note written on the inside cover or on the back instead of a card. It turned out really cute.
Mine was elephants, which is also the nursery theme. I had no clue themed showers were a thing until I was asked by a family member who hosted it for me. I'm glad I went with the same theme as my nursery (plus I just have an obsession with elephants) because I received a lot of elephant items that will go perfectly both in the nursery and on baby such as toys, keepsakes, and clothes.
For my first shower my mother-in-law is throwing it and we are doing a woodland themed shower. That's the theme we are doing his room in. For the second shower I don't know what it's going to be because my sister is throwing it and it's a surprise.
I'm not really a "theme" person, but I suppose both my shower and nursery have the same "vibe" going on. Baby's name is going to be Wren (you know...like the bird??), so there are touches of feathers and vintage bird prints. My shower is going to be kind of BoHo...lots of lace, feathers, and flowers. I know it will be lovely, because my sister is making everything, and she is insanely talented. Whatever decor is used at my shower will be utilized in the nursery too. I can't wait!!
Mine is going to be a Christmas themed shower. With " Baby it's Cold Outside" sign. My husband and I had a winter Christmas themed wedding ( lights, fire places, garland, trees, ornaments). And our first dance was to "Baby it's Cold Outside " so it will be reminiscent of the wedding. It's November 29th so right after thanksgiving.
For my first I had a dr. Suess shower in the state Where all my family is and my sister threw a "little slugger" - ball park shower here where we live. My other sister is throwing me a sprinkle this time, I think the theme is pretty in pink but honestly I have no idea.
My husband chose a construction theme for our little guy's nursery so I know the shower my MIL/best friends are throwing is also going to be construction themed. They found a lot of cute ideas on Pinterest. I'm so excited for it!
@tml13, my step-sister is doing her son's 1st Birthday in this theme. Pinterest does have TONS of cute construction themed stuff. It'll turn out really cute, I'm sure.
