Feeling Baby Movement

edited October 2015 in May 2016 Moms
I thought I was going nuts this morning but I was sitting at my desk at work and I was sitting forward off my chair and I kept feeling a bunch of fluttering. So I say back and thought maybe gas but then I sat forward again unconsciously and I felt it again. Am I going nuts can anyone else feel the fluttering already? I'm 12w 1day.

The earliest I've felt it was 13-14 weeks with my son-- it was the fluttering when I was sitting very still and clearly not gas or stomach rumbles. Arms and legs are formed by 11 weeks, and they are moving around so it's not impossible to feel flutters this early, probably just unlikely for most people. I thought I may have felt it last night while laying down, but it's just so early still that I'm just not convinced.

Re: Feeling Baby Movement

  • I can't seem to remember anything from my first pregnancy, but I think it's too early to be feeling movement.  I could be wrong though?

That's what I was thinking lol but the feeling is really pronounced.

I didn't feel my first kicks until 18 weeks. Most women (in their first pregnancy) didn't feel kicks till about 20 weeks or so. I thought around 11/12 weeks, the baby's arms and legs are developing.

I seem to only feel it if I am sitting forward. I found it odd cause my other two I didn't feel until later on. So not sure what I'm feeling but it feels funny and quick moving like bubbles, when we had the sono yesterday the baby was moving all over the place driving the tech crazy lol so who knows, was just wondering if anyone was experiencing the same feeling as I am.
  • I wasn't sure if you were a FTM or not, but I do remember that some of the STMs in my last BMB did feel the kicks REALLY early.  So maybe you're not crazy.

The arms and legs may still be developing, but they are definitely there and moving.  We could see 2.0 kicking and waving his arms around at my US yesterday (12w5d).

  • I think it also depends on where your placenta is. With my son, it was kind of forward so it took a while to really feel anything. With this one, the placenta is smack dab in the back so I have felt a few possible flutters already, especially after drinking something sugary. And I know this kid can bust a move because they had a really tough time getting a good shot at the NT scan from all the dancing and wiggling!

  • This is my second and I'm 11 weeks and I've felt a few kicks in the last few days. I know what they're supposed to feel like and they're definitely tiny kicks. Now heartbeat is a different story. She is so squirmy and I can never pick her up on the Doppler more than a few seconds before she moves.
  • I'm 11 weeks and a few days and I definitely felt the very distinctive flutters of baby moving around a few nights ago. I was shocked and after googling it's not entirely uncommon.

  • I think it's possible to feel some fluttering at 12 weeks. I don't remember when I felt one movement with my 1st but I know it wasn't this early. With my 2nd and this one I felt little flutters around 10wks. It's hard to say for sure though, it could just be gas or twinges in my uterus. I've felt the "phantom baby kicks" when I'm not pregnant and it is definitely not the same feeling as these flutters.
  • STMs - what does it feel like?

Imagine butterfly wings fluttering against you. Like that. For me at least.
I like that description. I would say like a small tickle inside, it's cool but the kicks are more fun when they are bigger.

  • For me I get tiny little twitches that are quick. I also get the flutters.
  • I felt my first really early not sure of the weeks but it was once when I was bent over pretty far and it felt like a marble rolling to one side. It was a few more weeks before I felt her again.
  • That's so funny! I'm also 12 weeks 1 day and felt it today for the first time leaning forward, did a little meditating/yoga. When I felt something I was like "can't be, too early!" But it wouldn't stop! I never felt something like this before! I can't even imagine a kicking baby! Greatest miracle!!!

Yes! Lol i am happy I am not going crazy
  • It's more than likely your uterus stretching. Baby is far too small to feel.

Baby #3 and I feel the same way lol

  • I posted about this earlier this week.  I have been feeling movement for at least a week.  I felt my first flutters with baby number 1 at 13 weeks so I know I'm not losing it.  Enjoy it... this is the fun part!

  • I think I have been feeling movements on and off for about a week. I am jot sure..Mainly only felt at night whenni am laying on my back. I may be crazy. This my sencond pregnancy. With my first my daughter didn't move much and when she did it was just a stretch here or there.
  • I felt my first at about 17 weeks and that's pretty early. Right now they're still so tiny, it's probably just gas. Sorry. But once you do feel them, it's pretty awesome. Almost like someone tapping you on the shoulder, but from the inside is the best way I can describe it.

  • I felt my first around 20 weeks and then my second around 16 weeks (just barely). This morning when I was using the Doppler, I'm pretty sure I felt flutters, but it could have been gas. I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow, so it's super early.

  • I didn't feel my first until 18 weeks. But I had an anterior placenta with him too.
  • I am 12w6d and I swear I feel flutters. Really tiny and it's only been a couple of times
