  • Yeah...while you achieved your goal and informed the masses, there was a belittling tone to your message. I remember feeling belittled as a first-timer here and it kinda sucked feeling excluded or feeling the other moms thought I was dumb when I asked questions they so surely knew an answer to with their snarky attitudes. I am all about sarcasm (seriously, i am a really sarcastic person) but come on---if this is a place for ANYONE at all to feel 100% comfortable and free to ask, it's for FTM's. We all know us 2nd, 3rd, 4th time moms don't REALLY need to be here--it's just fun to talk about pregnancy, so we are here. I am here to encourage and support...otherwise, just turn off the computer and go play with your kids. Save the snark for something that doesn't have an innocent victim at the other end.

    lol sorry about that. :)
  • DH asked me when I'd start showing the other day and I was like "well right now baby is about the side of a poppyseed" and he's like "what's a poopyseed?" So I'm like "okay baby is about the size of a grain of sawdust.." and then he's like "ohhhh okay so that isn't a baby bump that's just the comforter you made to keep baby warm" :)) I'll be honest, I laughed.

I have to agree with the PPs who said that even if you're a FTM (like me) it's fairly common sense that your "bump" isn't from baby when baby is so tiny.

Also, even though this thread could be seen as snarky I thought it was funny. It definitely made me smile. I feel like "do I have a bump!?" has become the new "I have twinges and my right eye twitches sometimes... am I pregnant!?"

As long as you can admit to yourself that it is in fact a blump, I say rock those maternity jeans whenever you deem necessary. I fully plan on pulling out my new belly band soon so I can wear my pants unbuttoned every day. #thisisallthatfitsmerightnow

I have felt like I just left the thanksgiving table all day long. Every day I swear the blump has hit just to have it be worse the next day. Currently using a hairtie to extend my pants by an inch or so because it was do uncomfortable to have them buttoned right against my belly.

I really want buffalo chicken dip now.

I may have just texted DH to stop at the store to get cream cheese on the way home.....
  • @babyweber3 oh is there a tone feature on your account that others don't have? B/c I totally need to get on that as just plain reading isn't helping me hear the tone of these posts...

  • I'm also a FTM & take absolutely no offence to this post. My time spent on TTGP has fully prepared me for sass & snark, & I LOVE it! It's what keeps me on TB, lol.

    Embrace the blump, friends! ;)

This is why I am so happy I discovered "pull-on pants" after baby #1. Guys, they're like maternity pants it's OK to wear all the time.

Seriously though. I just really need to poop. When I first started posting on this board someone mentioned a daily thread for bump pictures...I think it was called HDBD or something like that for Wednesday's? I was like uhhhh, what bump. I can post a pic of my ass for a bump, but other than that I just feel like someone stuck a straw in my belly button and filled it with air.

I love HDBD when there's actually bumps to be seen. Nobody wants to see my pouch stm blump right now though. That shit ain't pretty.
Agreed. I LOVE HDBD!!! When appropriate. Seeing me with my cute baby bump = sweet. Seeing me backed up and bloated not so much!

@sthomas1222 ohhhh yeah---you totally need to turn that thing on! Makes the posts way more interesting. :). Come on you guys! you were all disappointed this diffused too quickly---I was trying to throw some more kindling on the fire!
  • I don't understand why someone who is thin can't be showing? The baby is small, but a 7 week pregnant woman's uterus has grown from the size of a closed fist, to the size of a grapefruit by week 7.

According to madeformums:  "With subsequent babies women often start to show earlier, around nine weeks - because the muscles have been stretched before."

With my first pregnancy, I started to "show" at 17 weeks. By my third pregnancy, I was showing at 12 weeks. I guess I'll fine out if this one is even earlier or not.
  • I did kind of think it was weird that some folks posted "preggo" belly shots on FB at 5 weeks. What's there to show? But to each their own. Let's keep it supportive ladies, we're all on the same ride, but with different endings.

Thank you for the PSA! I can see how that repetitive type question is disruptive.
