....a sealed envelope with the baby's sex chromosomal screening results inside. I am (thought I was?) on team green. However, that envelope is begging to be opened. How long could you hold out before opening it?
I would want to open it right away! I respect that some people want to, and can, wait until delivery, but I just can't. I liked being able to stick to one pronoun rather than saying he/she throughout and I liked being able to plan ahead/shop ahead a bit.
Stay on Team Green! I also don't want anyone handing me anything that would make it easy to give in---give it to a friend or family member to get rid of for you
The only reason I have this envelope in the first place is the hubs wants to know ASAP. So I thought I'd at least get the info, and then we could decide later whether to stay team green (my choice) or to jump on the pink or blue bus (his). But now that I have the envelope my willpower is SO wavering!! I'm at least waiting until tonight after work, though!
We're team green as well and are not getting any tests (other than the 20 week utlrasound) that would give the sex away. That being said, if I were in your position, I would plan a gender reveal party (or if not a party, something special for you two to find out together).
I am team green this time and want to be surprised at the birth. My hubby however insists on finding out so he will know and I won't. It will be hard but being our last one I want something to be a Suprise! Good luck either way!
I am also wavering but if I had an envelope making it that easy....that would seal the deal I would probably have to see. I would maybe bring it to a baker for a small cake reveal or to a balloon store and wrap the color in a box to be opened. Or at least something. Maybe. Just depends on my willpower.
I have two children, and I've done it both ways. We were Team Green the first time, and found out the second. It's hands down a million more times exciting to find out in the delivery room. Just my 2 cents ; )
I could never be team green because I have no patience and not a fan of surprises, but I totally support you if that's what you want to do.
This is me too. I'm also too much of a planner. I didn't do a ton by way of nursery decorating but I did want to know if I was painting one wall purple or blue. Team green would just never work for me personally. I liked calling my baby by name once I knew what it was. I liked getting to buy specific things for a girl.
All that aside, I don't know how one spouse knowing and one not would work. If I was the one that knew, I would totally slip up and spill the beans. For that reason, I would totally open the envelope with hubby later. It would also kill me to know he knew and I didn't.

That. Would. KILL ME! Having the answer that close would be torture! I am TRYING to be team green (no chromosomal testing, just the anatomy scan at 20 weeks) and am hoping to be able to keep myself from looking! But having the answe at your fingertips would be way too tempting!
I had the results in my hand for my second child and hid the envelope from everybody. We were team green because DH wanted to be, not me. So when it came time to deliver DH wasn't even there! He was on a fire assignment and missed the birth. I think it would have been more awesome for DH to be there to tell me.
Okay, so kind of random story. I brought the envelope inside and we propped it up on the table over dinner. WE decided we would wait for our four month wedding anniversary (which will be in November) to open it. As a joke, my H grabbed it and put it up to the light. Well, apparently the piece of paper had a very big celebratory-style announcement on it (rather than a clinical printout with male/female checked on it, as i thought it would be) so he saw! His face got bright red and he couldn't stop smiling.
SO....I decided to open it. I was so nervous!! We held hands, I opened it and....boy!
I can't believe my tenure on team green was so short-lived, haha. But now I can wrap my head around this as I grew up with only sisters so this will be new in a lot of ways!
