Re: Weekly Ticker Change Check-In (10/19)

  • Weeks/Size: 19, mango

Team (pink/blue/surprise): a/s one week from today!!

What's new with baby?: working on 5 senses, getting that gross vernix stuff

    Appointments?: one week from today

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: nope

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: exhausted, RLP . . . Rant: I didn't feel the baby move for like 15 hours and was starting to freak out. I hate this in-between time when I feel movement consistently enough that I worry if I don't feel it in a while, but not often enough that I can do kick-counts or anything.

    Questions?:

GTKY: What movie could you watch over and over without getting sick of it? Either "You've Got Mail" or "The Princess Bride"

Team (pink/blue/surprise): Appointment currently scheduled 11/11

What's new with baby?: Ovia informed me that my future grandkids are all settled in to LO's ovaries if she is a girl. Scary.

Appointments?: Next one is scheduled 11/11 (originally 10/28 and they pushed to back) butttt I am going to call today to see if it's possible to move it back up. NBD if it isn't though.

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?:
Did some major Pinteresting and settled on a nursery theme for both a boy and a girl. Plan to refinish a buffet table (not baby related, but DH insists I finish this craft before starting others lol) this week and maybe put the second coat up in the nursery.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: I've been getting pretty bad headaches regularly. I know Tylenol is on the ok list, but I am trying not to pop 'em like they're candy. Now I am craving candy...

Questions?: Where does one buy essential oils? I would like to try something for the headaches I've been having.

GTKY: What movie could you watch over and over without getting sick of it? I also could do The Princess Bride over and over and over. I think it's my number 1 favorite movie ever. I am also still pretty obsessed with Harry Potter and could pop any of those Blu-Rays in at any time. Also I don't even know why, but I could watch She's All That pretty frequently. I legit thought that all high school dances had choreographed numbers so imagine my disappointment when I realized that wasn't the case...

    Weeks/Size: 19 + 1

    Team (pink/blue/surprise):
    We find out on 27th.

    What's new with baby?:
Developing that coat of vernix so he doesn't pickle inside of me.

    Appointments?:

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?:
nope, not really. I talk the talk, but have yet to walk the walk.... meaning I've browsed the baby aisles thinking I'll buy something, but honestly have yet to do it.

    Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings:
Getting comfy in bed is almost impossible lately. And me trying not to sleep on my back is almost inevitable.

    Questions?:
Has anyone every used one of those co-sleeper bassinets? Did you like them, and was it worth It? I've been thinking of getting one as our Lil one will be sleeping in our room for the first couple months, plus I'll be breastfeeding.

GTKY: What movie could you watch over and over without getting sick of it?
The Family Stone, or Interview With A Vampire. Weird mix I know. But I love them
  • Weeks/Size: 18 W Sweet potato

Team (pink/blue/surprise): a/s scheduled for next week

What's new with baby?: Baby B now has fingerprints of his/her own

    Appointments?: 10/29

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?:
not really. I remember by this time with DS I had cleaned out the room and the crib was ordered. I've looked at nursery ideas but haven't really decided. I keep telling myself its because both sets of in laws have invited themselves for the holidays and we need the guest room for them so I'll start in January. Baby will sleep in our room at first so I'm not too concerned yet.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: the end of last week the RLP was a lot better but I'm still sleeping poorly and now I've been over taken with this feeling of dread, like baby isn't healthy or something else is wrong so that hasn't helped my sleep either.

    Questions?:

GTKY: What movie could you watch over and over without getting sick of it? Little Women

Weeks/Size: 19 today! - last week of my "weeks to go" being greater than my "weeks pregnant!"
Mango/zucchini, hedgehog, (and my fave this week:) old-school gameboy! :-bd

What's new with baby?: thumb sucking, developing vernix

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: middle of the night leg cramps. eF these headaches man! Nesting has me really motivated to clean the house lately, so that rocks. Not energetic, just motivated. Chinese food sounds amazing.
Questions?: I've been totally sedentary so far this pregnancy (MS and fatigue first tri totally kicked my ass) - is it too late for me to try to start doing something, anything as far as exercise? What would be safe (besides just walking)? Plan on talking to the doc next week, but wondering if someone else has been there.
GTKY: What movie could you watch over and over without getting sick of it? Another plug for The Princess Bride over here. All-time fave forever.
Other faves are Mallrats, Napoleon Dynamite (idk why), The Empire Strikes Back, BottleRocket, Bring It On, My Fair Lady … I have a long list.

I love coconut water have been drinking it since I was a kid but it has to be fresh out of a coconut not that garbage you buy from the grocery store that is prepackaged. I also love fresh coconut and make cononut ice cream from it often.

  • @klantzer21 Coconut water is the most disgusting thing ever. I am seriously convinced that people that like it are only faking it because it's "hip" and certainly not because they have different taste buds than me lol.

I heart coconut water and after we were told that we had little to no chance of maintaining a pregnancy due to high nk cells, we were faced with ivig transfusions for 6 months at the tune of 5k each. And that didn't guarantee anything. I researched as much as possible and found that vitamin c was the only known home remedy to give you a chance at lowering nk levels. I am allergic to two things in the entire world. Wasp and bee stings (like I have an epi pen) and citric acid. So everyone is telling me pineapple or oranges. No go for me. I had also found that coconut water was a fertility booster so I started drinking a liter a day. About 2 weeks into the program I realized that the brand I was drinking was also delivering 100% vitamin c to me and I was having no adverse effects. 1 week after that we had a BFP. At 20 weeks I contribute this healthy pregnancy to it. my husband agrees with you guys and thinks it's the worst though :)

  • @oceanchild Walking is the great jumpstart to get back to exercising. Do you like yoga? I've felt weaker during this pregnancy, but I'm still going to yoga and trying to be kind to myself. I enjoy spin class, too, because nobody can see the numbers on my bike. I get the motivation from the instructor, but if my body just can't keep up with the pace, I back down with no guilt whatsoever!
  • I'll just pick up on the walking - maybe bundle the littles and toss them in the jogger and push them around the park. Spin class isn't an option for me right now, but I could do some you-tube yoga. I'm the least flexible person in our galaxy, btw. Have never been able to touch my toes even as a little kid LOL

  • Weeks/Size: 20

Team (pink/blue/surprise): Pink!! I'm still in shock! (And you are all sworn to secrecy! We're not going public with that info until this weekend! ;) )

What's new with baby?: Swallowing lots and peeing lots. Her little kidneys are doing their job!

Appointments?: Next one in 3 weeks.

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: I bought my first (and second through sixth...) outfits for baby girl this week. My husband hasn't looked in her closet yet...
I found some adorable bedding and mobiles on Etsy, which has helped me decide how to decorate the nursery. DH is on board! We will start during Christmas break.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: These past few days, I've looked like I'm nine months pregnant, waddling as I walk. Thank you, sciatic nerve!! Ouch! A heated flax seed bag is helping.

Questions?: I know this is too early to start counting kicks, but has anyone found a good app for that? (And preferably free!) Looking ahead. I know very well I can count on my own...just thought it would be fun to use some apps. I didn't have all this fun stuff with my first two pregnancies!

GTKY: What movie could you watch over and over without getting sick of it?
I adore Sense & Sensibility, Pride & Prejudice, Much Ado About Nothing (and yes, I'm on the Princess Bride train!)...but I'm going to have to pull the wild card and say 50 First Dates. I worked on a cruise ship for 10 weeks one summer, and that was on repeat on the tv in our crew cabin. You'd think I'd never want to see it again, but when we got home, I bought a copy!
  • @Doxies4life I hope the sarcasm in my post was not too veiled. I hate the stuff, but would love to like it exactly for some reasons that you stated! I even tried to continue drinking it by trying to dilute it, add it to my smoothies instead of almond milk, etc. but I just can't stand the taste. So glad you found something that you like, can actually drink AND is beneficial to you!

  • Weeks/Size: 17 (tomorrow), onion
    Team (pink/blue/surprise): team blue :)
What's new with baby?: he's developed a bit of a sweet tooth and does a little dance whenever i eat sugar. :)
Appointments?: a/s next wednesday, the 28th, can't wait!
Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: ummm, still nothing. we really need to like pick out paint colors or something so that i feel a little more prepared to answer this question each week!

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: i'm still stuck in headache land. i'm getting shooting pains in the vag and nipples...fun stuff. i'm still exhausted, i nap almost every afternoon. the nausea is better, but i'm still getting it in the evening. fish is repulsive to me, and so are most vegetables. i've been craving ice cold milk, which i chug each morning, and sweets. which is unlike me (i'm a salty snacker).
Questions?: has anyone else been swelling this early? i had a lot of water retention with my son and really blew up at the end (kankles and everything) but i don't remember that happening until about 30 weeks. i've been swelling all week and it's making me a touch nervous.
GTKY: What movie could you watch over and over without getting sick of it? center stage.

What's new with baby?: Creating vernix and working in her five senses.

Appointments?: October 30th feels like forever from now.

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Not really, just de-cluttering.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: Still want to eat all the sweets. My c-section scar still is sore but now that I know that she's measuring very big (21 weeks) I'm just taking warm baths to help with the soreness.

Questions?: Anyone else's older kids being obnoxious. My 8 and 5 year old have been so hyper ever since I found out I was pregnant although it could just be that I'm so tired all the time but it's testing my patience.

GTKY: What movie could you watch over and over without getting sick of it? There are so many Back to the Future, Harry Potter, any Disney or Hallmark movie. I love sappy romantic movies on Hallmark channel I'm excited for all the Christmas movies that play during the season.

No worries, for what it's worth I loathe bananas. Taste smell even faux banana flavor. I wish I liked them for the nutritional punch they pack but alas I am stuck with the subpar coconut water ;)

  • Weeks/Size: 20!

Team (pink/blue/surprise): Found out this morning that we are team BLUE! I was so happy I cried.

What's new with baby?: His tastebuds are working.

Appointments?: It was this morning, and we were told everything looks really great.

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Been doing a lot of work organizing the apartment to make room for baby.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: I had been wanting pancakes for like 3 weeks, and we finally went to the diner Sunday morning and they totally hit the spot. Then about an hour later I threw them all up. At the dog park. In front of about 30 people.

Questions?: Can't think of any right now.

GTKY: What movie could you watch over and over without getting sick of it? I'm a weirdo and love to watch movies over and over, but some of my big favorites that I'll put on almost any time I see are on while channel surfing are the famous trilogies or book adaptations: Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Hunger Games
  • Weeks/Size: 20.6 - Banana today and Pomegranate tomorrow :)

    Team (pink/blue/surprise): Green

What's new with baby?: Had the A/S today and everything looked great! LO was moving up a storm for the ultrasound which was fun to see. The little hands and feet were adorable to watch.

Appointments?: Next one is November 23

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?:
Baby's crib got set up this weekend & dresser arrived today. I'm sure this seems really early for most but this excited FTM is getting prepared!

    Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: None

Questions?: Alright, here is a topic that we may want to ignore, but anybody else noticing extra hair - and not just on their head? My DH pointed out some "peach fuzz" on my face last night. I have really light body hair so it doesn't bother me too much but now I am self-conscious... I do not want to start waxing or some other treatment that I will be required to keep up after baby is born so do you ladies have any recommendations?

GTKY: What movie could you watch over and over without getting sick of it? New Transformers series, Harry Potter series, Pride and Prejudice
  • Weeks/Size: 19! Mango sized baby!

GTKY: What movie could you watch over and over without getting sick of it? I love musical movies- Mama Mia, Hairspray, Burlesque, the High School Musical movies (I'm a 28 year old with the interest level of a 14 year old... No shame!)

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?: Thinking more about registering for baby.  Finalized a list of addresses for my mom for the shower (her request)

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: I had the poos last night, not fun.  Now I'm scared to eat anything.  Also we got to see a 3D U/S picture at our emergency U/S and I think my baby is pretty adorable.

    Questions?: None right now

  • Weeks/Size:   21 weeks- size of a pomegranate!
Team (pink/blue/surprise):  Still a surprise- hoping to find out 11/11

What's new with baby?: Almost 1 full pound of baby in there!  baby is making meconium...ew lol. Baby is kicking up a storm inside, and I'm beginning to feel them from the outside :)  It makes my heart melt.

Appointments?:  Still going every week for my injection.  My follow-up a/s is scheduled for 11/11, with an injection/dr appointment immediately after.  Hoping things look better, and the doctor should have a "wet read" in time for my appointment

Are you doing anything new to prepare for baby?:  We've been buying little things here and there, and I see the grandparents are beginning to get excited too.  We went to Walmart with my mom last night and she ran into the baby girl Christmas dresses, looked at me and said, "It better be a girl". Kind of redundant coming from the woman who thinks I don't need to know the sex and laughed in my face when baby's legs were crossed.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves/Cravings: I would still like to punch my mom.  She is irritating the ever loving eff out of me!  She is constantly criticizing my weight/size, and mentions everything I put in my mouth is going to give me gestational diabetes.  Just the other night I was at her house, eating grapes- when my kid gave me 2 skittles from the gumball machine (my mom has one she fills with skittles and has a basket of change next to it so DD can get skittles when she wants). Mom immediately snapped to and told me I can't have them.  Then my child went for the oreos, grabbed out 3 and gave me 1.  My mom then told her to quit trying to give me junk because with all that sugar I'm going to get gestational diabetes.  I didn't have it with my first, my tests are all coming back fine at the doctors, she needs to shut her mouth.  This is the same woman who reminds me that I shouldn't be commenting on my own daughter's chubbiness (which I DON'T, until she complains her pants don't fit or she needs new undies etc- because she doesn't understand why yet when we try to get her out of the house to play/exercise/walk etc, she will have no part of it) because it will give her a complex, yet everything I put to my mouth is going to make me too fat and have a sick baby.
As far as symptoms go, my legs are still crampy- now its both of them.  I have heartburn every day- I chew tums like candies at some point during the day.

    Questions?:  none

GTKY: What movie could you watch over and over without getting sick of it?  Anything with Johnny Depp in it- he is yummy and makes me melt like butter!  Mmmm....  I like the older men lol!

@bntfroggie The Brave Little Toaster scared me so badly as a kid! when the AC gets all angry, and when the vacuum eats his cord, and when the big junkyard magnet takes the stuff to the crusher - wasn't even that young, i was like 7, but oh man it was so intense!

Ugh the worst part is the technician knew when we went Tuesday and asked us if we wanted to know and we were so undecided she was like I'm just not going to tell you since it seems like you didn't talk about it.  UGH.  That was rough.

Talk about will power!!! I guess she kind of didn't give you a choice though. ;) I don't want to know the sex but if they said they knew and asked me to confirm that I didn't want to, I might crack and say yes! I already told the dr we don't want to know so make sure they don't ask so I don't change my mind. :)
