Intro, curious about guarantee program

Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself now that DH and I are moving into the donor egg realm. We just don't want to spend any more money and energy/emotion if my own eggs are so questionable (apparently). We are leaning towards a guarantee program, but I'm wondering if that's really necessary given the high success rates of DE. Anyone else using a similar program, either fresh or frozen?
me: 39  DH: 42
TTC: since April 2014
IUI #1-3 Jan-April 2015 (all BFNs)
IVF #1 May/June 2015 - cancelled due to poor response
IVF #2 July/Aug 2015 - BFN
DE IVF #1 March 2016 - BFP

Re: Intro, curious about guarantee program

  • Hi! Welcome to donor egg land!

I did use a guarantee program. I get 6 cycles. If I don't take home a baby or change my mind at any time, I get it all back. It's a 1:3 program (I share with 2 other women) and cost $30k. I am 5w3d preg from my first cycle. Yes, I could have saved money by taking the risk per cycle but I'd rather have paid the 30k and have it work the first time, then be flushing down $10k, or whatever it was, every time it didn't work. Also, as my history includes miscarriages, and I am having an anxious day today!, I'm glad that if something happens, I at least won't kick myself about the money side. I am pregnant with the fresh egg, with two frozen. I only did one 1 egg bc I in no way wanted twins and the success rates are 60% for either, but if you put in 2, a 30-50% chance for twins.

  • @peregrinefalconx thank you that is very helpful! My DH and I feel the same way, that it's more of a piece of mind than a medical reason. I think even if we got bfp on 1st attempt, we would stilll be happy we spent the money vs worrying each cycle about how much we were spending. That was really tough this past summer, knowing that each failed cycle 100% of the money was gone. I think we are going to do the all-inclusive 1:2

  • Oh no. I didn't go that route either. We're doing the single cycle and have spent $20,000 so far including legal fees. Let's hope I get blessed with this one cycle of eggs. Good luck to all the ladies in egg land.
TTC for Baby #1 for 3 years. After 2 failed IUI's & IVFs, God blessed us with our miracle :).  FET 12/17/15 (transferred 2 embryos at 5days). First Beta 12/29/15 = 354. Second Beta 12/31/15 = 694. Third Beta 1/7/16 = 6,695.  Finally heard his heartbeat (126)  on 1/14/16 @ our 1st US.  2nd US on 1/21/16, HR was 159.  The most beautiful sound ever :)
  • @kuposa17 - Thank you. I'm doing alright. I finally matched with a new donor and things are underway again and I am hopeful it will work out with this new donor. I wish you the best!

Hello, kuposa! I have definitely a thing to share with you!
6 years ago I faced 2 miscarriages in a row. And from that very moment our lives changed upside down. Our infertility journey started as soon as they diagnosed me on endo and PCOS, poor egg quality. That was a nightmare! Had unsuccessful surgery which led to ovaries scarring. Eggs couldn't mature any longer. DH was ok thankfully. We applied for the treatment abroad. We booked 5 shots IVF program with donor eggs that time for 9900 euro in Biotexcom clinic. All meds included into the package price. Selective reduction was also covered (it demands another 1000 euro app.).In case of 5 failures they refund all money paid. So this was the sort of the guarantee they offered.
Our tiny baby boy is only 11 days now.  :) It took us 3 shots to conceive.
Wish you all the best with your treatment, hun X
