Face Flushing?

Hey, guys! Anyone's face randomly get really flushed for no reason? I have a blood pressure cuff and my BP is fine, pulse is fine, temp is fine, I don't feel overly warm, I just have a super flushed face. It makes me feel really sleepy, and my face is really red and hot to the touch, but other than that I have no symptoms or body weirdness. Just wondering if this is something that anyone else has ever experienced... I don't have a way to test my blood sugar, so mostly I worry that this is somehow related to gestational diabetes or anything dangerous like that. I don't have another OB appointment for a couple of weeks or else I wouldn't have bothered y'all and just asked him. :)

Thanks a bunch!

Re: Face Flushing?

  • I was having this problem and talked to a family member who is a midwife because it was too late to get ahold of my doctor. She said that it is relatively normal and okay as long as your bp is fine. Sometimes it can be attributed to increased heart rate or your blood volume increasing again. As long as your bp is fine there's no reason to worry. Drink plenty of water and if it keeps happening or gets worse I would call your doctor. Otherwise I think you're okay :)

  • This happened to me with my first and is happening to me again this time. It feels like I'm embarrassed or something. My face, neck and chest will get really red and hot. It eventually stops so I'm not concerned.
  • Happens to me too! I assume it's related baby's position or something. I have low BP and it usually goes away quickly, so I don't worry about it too much. If it starts concerning you, ask your OB.
  • I find this happens to me when I'm sleeping. I usually wake up feeling flushed but not necessarily warm anywhere else.

  • I noticed this recently also. I was told it could be related to blood volume since my BP is fine.
  • I think flushing can also be related to iron supplements but usually indicates high levels of iron in the blood
  • Thanks for all the info guys, I feel much better about it now. :) I never had this with my first- pregnancy is so strange, even the second time around!
  • I've had this happen too. Face looks pinky and I feel a warmth come over me. My bp is normal-low so I think it's more from the blood volume and my body adjusting. Glad I'm not the only one! Pregnancy can freak a girl out!
  • Me too- happened to me just as I was walking into a baby shower- I think i t must have looked like I'd just been crying. So embarrassing!
