Ditto to the pain with sneezing, but I just hold onto my tummy while I sneeze and it seems to help
  • Had diarrhea my first trimester!! At least it prevented bloat! Now in the 2nd tri and constipated. Can't win lol
  • Can I just take a moment to scream about itchy gums!  GEEZE they are driving me insane!!!!!  So weird... 13 weeks 4 days and this just kicked in... bloodflow must be amping up... salt winter rinse here I come!
  • @AmadorRose I don't have any experience with compression. Socks but if you're prone to varicose veins, be sure to do all you can to keep yourself regular and not having to "strain" to poop. Hemorrhoids are technically varicose veins of the rectum and they suck. A lot. :-q

  • @mrstrax I take two colase a day for exactly this reason. I see WAY too many hemorrhoids at work to endanger myself haha

You all make me feel much better. 12 weeks now. My morning sickness has subsided from vomiting several times a day to just feeling queasy occasionally, but now I get a sharp pain when I sneeze or cough and I'm getting the twinges in the vaginal area. I was worried because I'm having my cervix stitched preventatively in a couple days, but according to the other forums I've read, these pains seem to be normal.

    And colase is a lifesaver!
  • Question for any moms who've used compression socks in the past - what kind did you use and when did you start? I have a family history of vericose veins and have had spider veins on my legs and shoulders for about 10 years. Anything I can do to slow the progression of the dreaded varicose veins will be done!

    Edit: words are hard

I love my compression socks! I ran a lot before getting pregnant... I would recommend looking at under armor and asics, and completely skipping the kind from the drug store. They aren't as tight, and make your feet smelly.
  • My favorite never ending symptom is waking up every 3 hours like clockwork whether I have to pee or not. My mother said this happened with her fourth and sixth, and it's the body's way of preparing for breastfeeding. I get that, but I still have to work right now???
  • here comes the postnasal drip

  • Anyone experience weight loss during pregnancy?? I'm just over 12 weeks and have lost 12 pounds. I have read it can be normal but this seems like a bit to me.

I've lost 7lbs so far - there is a whole thread on weight loss during the first tri - seems to be pretty normal!
  • @jasmuin make sure your doctor is okay with it and you're not dieting.
First BFP 12/2012, MMC at 9 weeks
Second BFP 6/2013, resulted in DS, born 2/23/14 :-)
Third BFP 5/2015, natural MC at 6 weeks
Fourth BFP 8/2015, hoping for sticky little brother or sister to H!

  • Oh I am for sure not dieting. This baby just has food aversions to anything sweet which is completely unlike me. I normally have a really bad sweet tooth. I am eating all throughout the day or I get nauseous. At my last appointment I had lost 10 pounds and the only thing they said about the weight loss was if my nausea gets too bad to let them know.
  • I'm having boob weirdness. Does anyone know if it's normal to have really dry nipples already? My skin there is super dry and looks almost cracking and there is even a discolored area as well! It's like darker there! What the heck? The boobs themselves even look lopsided now too. :(
  • Is it normal to have headaches a lot? I'm 14 weeks (15 tomorrow) and for the last week or so I've been having a lot of mild headaches especially at night... Should I be worried?
  • @nicoledifronzo I'm 12weeks tomorrow and this week my headaches have been pretty consistent on a daily basis. I took tylenol once but resorted to tea and naps. I just assumed it was normal-ish but don't want to take tylenol all the time.
  • Overnight my scalp decided to turn oily/greasy! I have no idea what to do. Yuck!

That happened to me before and was super weird because my hair is usually dry and has never been greasy before. I used tea tree oil shampoo and it totally solved the problem! A clarifying shampoo is another thing you could try.
  • I have been having headaches. I was told to up my water intake! Seems to work a bit, but also resorted to Tylenol once. For me lately- I have a lot of fleeting sharp pain in the sides of my stomach. Sometimes higher by my ribs. Hating it!
  • Anyone else had changes in their eye color? My husband pointed out that my eyes look different. I looked closely and to me it looks like my eye color is darker. He described it as my eyes looking "dull" or "cloudy." Which I don't see what he means lol but I have read that pregnancy can change a woman's eye color. He thinks it means I need more vitamin A.

I'm not experiencing this now, just soreness and itchiness. However, when I lived in WI my nipples would get chapped in the winter because of the cold, dry air and I lived in a placed with a wood stove, further drying the air. If your nipples are chaffing, I recommend some Vaseline (it'll feel weird but totally worth it). Someone mentioned that the areolas get darker with pregnancy so that baby has an easier time finding them when it comes time to feed. Mine have gone from being the size of a half-dollar to the size of a pepperoni and have darkened considerably. As far as being lopsided, I'm pretty much always in a bra so I can't help you there.
  • Anyone else's legs super itchy?! I'm dying!! They get way worse after I shave so I've cut back and lather them with coconut oil multiple times a day but they are still splotchy with red bumps and itch so freaking bad!

Also had eczema spots show up on my back and belly. Never had eczema in my life. This pregnancy is jacking up my skin! :/

It could be pups. (I am no medical professional just speaking from experience). Get some grandpas pine tar soap- see if that helps. Good luck and hopefully it eases up!

@seasidesweete I just made the mistake of googling PUPPP. Don't do it!

    Edited for clarity
  • Hi this is my first time leaving a comment so I hope I do this right. I am 13 weeks. And for about the last two weeks I am Very breathless at night when I lay down. I mean it's scary!! I read forums which say it's normal. And some which say it is not. Anybody think I should call the dr? Or should I just give in to sleeping sitting up??
  • I've had so many migraines. So. Many! My doctor is ok with me downing Tylenol, and try to skip around so it doesn't amount to daily. But, I had a migraine disorder before, and unfortunately without my regular medication it hits me hard. (I've had previous head trauma, so it isn't a dehydration or rest issue like most.) I've found it helps to put an ice pack on my neck when I lay down, or across my eyes. Anyone else have previous migraine issues? Just "laying down" isn't feasible for me.. I work midnights and have a nine year old.. Not happening lol
  • This might be worth a new thread, but I figured I'd leave it here for anyone to see. I had a preventative cerclage done yesterday at 12 1/2 weeks and was really worried about it, since it carries some risk. They put me under general anesthesia and had to give me some pain meds (I hate that I needed them because I didn't want the baby exposed to them, but the staff assured me it was ok) after for cramping, but otherwise everything went well and the baby's heart was still beating perfectly after the surgery.
  • @hpwilson82 I find myself trying to catch my breath or breathing very hard pretty much all the time. It's worse at night for me because my bedroom is very dry. You can always call your nurse advice line or ask at your next appointment. If you begin feeling lightheaded or dizzy, that would be more concerning.

@allicatsandog I'm not familiar with your procedure I'm so happy for you that it went well! Sometimes the benefits of medication outweighs the risks - there was a thread about someone on chronic hydrocodone therapy who was encouraged not to stop taking the medication. Good luck with everything!
  • @allicatsandog I agree. I'm so glad it went well for you and the baby is fine! Hope you can relax now that the procedure is over and lil one is still doing well.

Ugh I feel you there. I used to have a lot of problems with migraine, mainly due to stress and birth control. Now that the hormones are going wild in my body it's spiking my migraines and I have refused to take any of my usual medication. Sadly I don't have access to a doctor these past few months to consult so I haven't taken any painkillers, just rested in the dark. I found that it helps with the ice in the back of the neck as well and eating ginger in food and drinks. Now that my hormones are getting in control again the migraine has almost completely stopped. Sending hugs your way!

I don't exactly know what you mean, but if you are having trouble breathing, awake or asleep, you should probably talk to your doctor.
  • Week 14 here... Mood swings anyone? One minute I'm weeping over a baby book, yelling at my hubby hysterically, then giving him hugs and kisses an hour later. And sometimes I'm just so restless by skin is crawling!!
  • Also super sensitive to bad news on tv!! Just cant watch
  • @kalanieileen too funny! Is there a word for sneezing a peeing? I have a feeling some of us may need it by April!
  • @AmadorRose yes! It's called snissing (sneezing and pissing) haha!

@roseshadow873 Try Lanolin or similar for the drying/cracking. Also, after my milk came in and I nursed, I ALWAYS produced more on the right side... and my right boob is permanently bigger, although it's not nearly as noticeable now as it was when I was still nursing.

I wondered what this was!  About once a week my nipples seem to molt and it's disgusting and makes me queasy.  I asked my Mom about it but she never had this problem so she didn't know.  It also feels like they have extreme sunburn at all times, so would this be just very dry skin?
