Anyone else having pulsating back pain accompanied with headaches? It almost feels like spasms, nothing I can time really. I'm waiting on my doctor to call me back. Started yesterday morning and last night I'm pretty sure I lost my plug but again not sure since I wasn't showing signs of labor anytime soon Tuesday. My doctor said I haven't dropped but he's been head down for at least 3 weeks. He also expects me to go well into November <sigh>
I'm 40w4d and I have this happen twice where all of a sudden I get an urge that I have to poop and I get to the bathroom sit down and my body begins to shake uncontrollably. I do poop but it ends up taking 10-15 min for my body to calm down. It's happened two separate nights and not every time I go #2. I looked it up and Dr. Google said its hormone fluctuations in early labor. I have an appt today so I'll see what my OB thinks. :-S
38 weeks + 1 day..... Had a show lastnight & night before followed by leaking today.... Have to go to the Midwifery unit at 8pm tonight! Had some cramping and pains today!.... Baby soon maybe??? Fingers crossed so excited to meet my baby girl!!
Same happened with me last night, I couldnt get off the toilet! Soon after a show followed then a couple hours later I had leaking. Got to go to midwifery unit at 8pm so hopefully things are making a move! Cant wait to meet my baby girl!! Good luck!
Baby girl totally blocked my bladder last night! I got up to pee in the middle of the night, and nothing came out! But my bladder felt so full. I had to rock back and forth a couple of times to get it going.
As uncomfortable as all this is for me when its happening, esp the braxton hicks these days, I am so excited! Hopefully this means she's making her way down and we will be meeting her soon!
Well I think they are contractions, started having some last night and this morning they was 1 every hour, then the last hour I had 4, I can describe them as period type Pains, then my belly tightens, and then pressure down there. They have also made me go to the bathroom some not the poos but still going. I went to the bathroom and I am pretty sure I lost some of my mucus plug, it look like a long string of snot. So hopefully it will keep up
I'm not sure if I'm having BH or contractions. They are about every five mins or so, and painful, but I can only feel them when I'm standing or walking. If I sit down I can feel the tightening when I press on my belly, but I can't feel the same pain I do when I'm standing.
I'm 40 weeks to the day, and this morning (2am) I woke up to wet undies! It was watery, odorless and I can tell it has a teeny bit of blood only because my underwear is white. Yesterday afternoon I had brownish, mucus discharge and then one or 2 panty liners of watery fluid.
I guess I'm going to change my undies/add a panty liner and see if it's wet again in a few hours? Has anyone experienced leaking AF? I'm wanting to wait before sounding any alarms with DH/doctors but didn't want to wait too long if anyone thinks its more urgent to call.....
I'm 40 weeks and 2 days now and I (tmi) just started losing my mucus plug. I know that it can go at any time and can grow back but I was wondering if it can be a sign of labour because I'm so close to the end of pregnacy

Just an update if anyone else is experiencing something similar: doctor said to come in and get checked - it was not fluid! She said it's common for discharge to change thickness and increase towards the end. It "could" mean labor is near but was not AF.
@ShayGenevieve MP is one of those things that COULD be a sign that labor is near but it's not a sure-fire signal. Basically the best indicators are going to be water breaking or consistant, timeable contractions. Good luck!
Every time I am riding or driving in a vehicle I have the most intense back pain and pressure of my life. It's all across my lower back and my whole abdomen gets incredibly hard and tender. Nothing I can do to make it go away except get out of the vehicle and stand up for a few minutes. Anyone else ever experience this or have any suggestions?
I just need to rant about my pain. Here is how I have been feeling for the last week headaches, nausea, hot flashes, back pain, hip pain, round ligament pain, the most uncomfortable I have ever been in my life, and tired. I even had some water leakage (100% clear and no not pee) and even went in to the hospital to make sure my water wasn't leaking but sure enough it wasn't which was disappointing and honestly weird how I can have 2 panty liners soaked yet it's nothing...okay? Also been hungry! Which stinks because I feel to heavy and have no room in there yet I have to eat. And gaining weight doesn't help the pain in my body nor make me feel any better mentally. And I am just miserable and tired of waiting.
Suppose to have my membranes sweeped today and I am praying to god it works as my due date is still a week away but I don't know if I can do another week let alone another minute. My mind doesn't stop wondering and my body gets more sore, painful and uncomfortable every day. At the end of the day as long as my little guy is healthy than it's worth it but pregnancy is not easy and I am sooooooo beyond over it. Please let it end and end with everything good!
I'm 39 w 3 days with no dilation, no plug, no contractions... Is there hope I won't have to induce?? Hope that I may still go naturally by due date?? So disappointed!

Don't lose hope, with my first, I had a cervical check at 39 weeks and was doing absolutely nothing. My cervix was high and tight and I had not experienced one Braxton Hicks. I was sure I was going to go a week past my due date. At 39.5 I woke up in the early morning with contractions every 5 minutes and gave birth 21 hours later. I didn't lose my plug until I had been in labor for ten hours! I know it's hard, but our bodies don't always give us a good indicator of what's to come. Try not to stress about it and I hope you go into labor naturally soon!
Anyone having contractions with mild cramping in between? I've had consistent contractions about 6-7 minutes apart for an hour. They aren't really bad, just feel like awful period cramps, in between I've had cramping. Curious about others.
EDD 10/23 I haven't dilated at all. She hasn't dropped either. My doctor said he will induce me Oct 30th. Wondering if I should just be induced the day after my due date or wait until the 30th.
I'm 39+4 and I was having contractions earlier this evening, about a minute long, every 20 minutes, but now they stopped about an hour ago. I'm so disappointed bc I thought things were moving along!!!
I'd just like to say I've been so anxious for this LO to get here and so disappointed when her EDD came and went (41w today). But then I just went to the bathroom and had my first real sign of labor in the near future (bloody show, I know it can be days from now), and suddenly I'm just in shock! It's crazy how easy it is to get impatient and then suddenly when things start my whole view has changed and now I'm down right scared! Excited, but scared.

Induction is rough and I would wait it out unless there is a reason to induce. If you're not in jeopardy and your baby is not in distress there really is no reason to induce. If you induce, you are more likely to need a c section and I would avoid that at all costs if you can.
Why can't the laboring process be more definitive and normal across the board?! Today has been the most confusing day of my life!
Started out yesterday with severe discomfort caused by (in my opinion) severe gas. I could hear and feel the gas bubbles move when I stood and walked around. Sleep last night was horrid due to this discomfort. Finally around 3am the flood gates opened (sorry TMI) and I had several bouts of diarrhea from 3am-9am. Around 5am during one of my trips to the bathroom I discovered my "bloody show". The discharge was consistently pink and turned slightly brown from 5am-12pm.
I had a constant dull ache from my back to my front side so I called the doctor. She thought nothing of it. Didn't care about the bloody show, and said I must have eaten something bad to cause the diarrhea (which I find strange she would assume this considering SOooo many people say this can be an indicator of labor).
So now I'm just down right confused. Any time spent on my feet causing some back pain and some timeable contractions. But when I'm laying or sitting and relaxed, I don't get much of anything. The bloody show stopped while relaxed for a few hours. Went shopping (which was pretty excruciating) and came home and had bloody discharge again.
I just wish I could understand my body. I am so concerned about being in active labor and not getting to the hospital soon enough bc I have GBS and need that antibiotic.
Sorry for the rant. I just needed to get it out. I just wish things were more uniform across the board and that I knew whether or not this could be hours or days! (FYI- I'm 41w and scheduled for induction tomorrow or Tuesday if they are too busy... Lol I'm just impatient and prefer to know what is happening to me!).

This is so frustrating! I feel like you would go into natural labor in the next few days given these symptoms, though. But, I'm not a doctor. However, it seems logical that an induction would work well because your body seems to be ready for it. Good luck in whichever way it all happens! Not too much longer!

I can so relate to you right now!!! At my appointment on Friday (I'm currently 38 + 5 ) my midwife said I was still at 1 cm, 50% effaced but with a very soft cervix. But baby is high up so she didn't expect I would go in the next week. Then on Saturday I had cramping and back pain. I had a ton of mucus discharge (I've been experiencing discharge but this was way thicker)...then twice that day I also had a small clump of brown mucus (similar to what I noticed before finding out I was dilated 1 cm). Over the course of the day, overnight and today, the discharge has been beige, pink and event streaked with blood. Yesterday, I had contractions on and off all day. But they were not intense and 20 minutes apart. They would continue for a few hours and then stop for a few hours. I also had nausea and diarrhea. Then today, I felt better. No contractions. I thought I might have been having some back labor but it seems to be just gas pains. I don't feel as icky and tired as yesterday. It's nice to feel better but I'm frustrated too. I spent all day yesterday thinking these seemed like signs that labor was approaching and now it's stopped. I am just scared to not know what my body is doing and to be unsure of whether something requires action. I am also GBS posirive and am scared about getting to the hospital in time for the antibiotics.

I just have to throw it out there that it is false to say you're more likely to get a c section if you're induced. I thought the same but since I'm approaching induction myself I've been researching it extensively and discussing it with my doctor. C section rates for inductions have actually dropped recently by 12%. It is actually riskier to the baby to go close to or beyond 42 weeks. The mortality rate jumps very high at that point.
That being said, I agree that if you're body isn't t least a little ready, you should try to wait a little longer if the baby and mom are okay. If you're not dilated, or soft or have cervix in the right position - yes you may have a harder time delivering naturally and possibly end up with a c section. My cervix is dilated, in the right position, and soft so I have great chances of delivering vaginally. The induction thread has a lot of mommies reporting successful vaginal births after induction!
Help! I've had a headache since Monday, and nothing helps. Caffeine, Tylenol, sleep, nothing. the doctor doesn't know why either. Anyone else have a bad headache towards the end?!

I've had a headache off and on the past few weeks. I think mine is mostly allergy related though. Is your blood pressure normal? Could be the baby is sitting on a nerve.

Has your OB checked your urine for excess protein? Not to freak you out or anything, but high blood pressure and headaches are signs of Pre eclampsia. It's also normal to have elevated blood pressure in the last few weeks, and hormonal changes can cause headaches. Maybe you could bring it up at your next appointment and definitely rule out pre e! Meanwhile, try hot and cold packs for some relief. Lavender oil also helps. Add it to a warm bath or (I know this sounds weird) massage it behind your ears. I get migraines often and rarely take meds unless it's to the point I can't stand it. Also ask your SO to massage pressure points in your feet. Just be careful not to go too deep because it can cause you to go into labor

I actually was sent to l&d the other day because of my high BP. they said no protein in urine and I was sent home. they gave me something for my headache but it didn't work. I have another appointment tomorrow so hoping I get some answers!!! Thanks so much!
I've had headaches and been dizzy from them the past week or so and the doctor is not concerned at all. No protein in my urine either. She said it's probably a hormone imbalance and to only go in if I start seeing spots or have pain near my rib cage, I should go into the hospital. If not, she's not concerned. As much as I don't want to be induced, I don't want to add to my symptoms, so I was hoping she would tell me that this means they are ready for the baby, but no. I'm 39+1 and am getting antsy!
I'm feeling extremely frustrated and could use some support. The pregnancy discomfort I had been feeling (the whole get this thing out of me!) has subsided somewhat, and I am generally fairly comfortable and happy to hold this baby in for a little while longer (38+2), but I feel like I am constantly being teased! I have had so many Braxton-Hicks. Multiple times they've been less than 5 min apart over 1 min long for over 1 hour. Then I go to bed and it all subsides. Nothing has been terribly painful, so I know it's not true labor yet, but I keep thinking it will turn into something. Last week Wednesday I lost my bloody show, so I was sure labor was coming very soon, and it hasn't. I am trying so hard to have a good attitude about this. Part of me is happy, baby staying in means he or she is healthy and doing well in there.
The part that makes it all so much harder is that I got some heart-wrenching news on Tuesday. One of my parents was diagnosed with an illness that is untreatable and does not have long to live. I am absolutely devastated. When I lost the bloody show (the was undoubtedly my mucous plug and had dark blood meaning older so labor should have been even sooner), I was very scared at first thinking I wasn't emotionally ready with everything else going on. Then I realized that meeting this baby would bring some joy back into my life and help the devastation I am feeling. I also worry about how my emotional state is affecting the baby in there.
Sorry that was a long rant. Just needed to get it out there.
@crbpjb I'm so sorry for the devastating news that you received. I know that's hard and your LO would really bring some joy into your life right now. Labor is different for everyone. I was stuck in false labor for a week. I wasn't even convinced that labor was close until my bloody show became consistent. And then I wasn't into heavy labor for another 24 hours!
Walking helps. The labor ball can help. There is actually a lot of information to help with stalled labor or early labor on spinningbabies.com. That site really helped me keep my sanity. Plus it put things into prospective that all these false labor contractions were my body preparing itself for the real thing. And as for the stalls, it was explained to me that sometimes your uterus needs to progress so far and then it rests for the next big step. I know it's frustrating and trust me I cried a lot because it's all so confusing, but hang in there. It really does happen and you will know it because the pain is pretty different from false labor.
Feel free to PM me if you need extra support. I'm usually on mobile, but I'll try to look out of any messages.
@crbpjb : That's a lot to have going on at once! I have faith that baby is ok in there despite your understandable sadness regarding your parent right now. Miraculously babies come out just fine after months of living inside women whose stress and hormones go up and down all crazy like. Your situation is different of course, but thankfully baby is big enough now that he or she should be nice and strong. I think your baby is fine and just reaching out for support like you did will help keep him or her safe.
I second @intheversa 's recommendation of spinningbabies.com. I have yet to deliver yet, but the forward leaning inversion, pelvic tilts, and just hanging out on my hands and knees all feel good and help me feel I am doing something that can help me and baby prepare for labor. I am so glad for the instructions on there about movements/stretches/positions to do during labor if it stalls, because I am highly inclined to think that my baby is in a posterior position, which is less than ideal. It is comforting to know I have some tools in my belt as to what to do to encourage progress and hopefully avoid unnecessary medical interventions.
Re: It's the "Labor Symptoms" thread! Symptom ?s & Rants go here!
As uncomfortable as all this is for me when its happening, esp the braxton hicks these days, I am so excited! Hopefully this means she's making her way down and we will be meeting her soon!
