Literally not a thing done. It makes me want to cry seeing everybody's nurseries coming together they look great. And I have only bought 1 outfit. We still have to finish our kitchen before we can even start the nursery and the nursery has to get new walls and a whole new floor oh jeez I just got real sad lol
That sounds overwhelming! We haven't started either and I know how easy it is to get caught up in the fantasy of a perfect nursery, and then the stress of how much needs to be done. However, the way I view it, there's so many more important things that we can give our little ones! I have a friend who didn't get around to her nursery (even now, and the baby is 3 months old!) because her house flooded completely. Her perspective was so inspiring - she had said "It wasn't our ideal situation, of course, but the good news is that it can't taken away from the most important things we can give our baby - love, safety, security, and giving him parents who have a good relationship with each other and the Lord." All of the important things we have direct control over (and are usually free !)
Got our spare room emptied and painted the last couple days. Hubby put the crib and dresser together. Can't wait to start decorating and making it personalized!
To Lindseylou33 omg thank you so much! I have been so overwhelmed recently and just thinking about what needs done not thinking about what we already have. And we have been making some big strides. The lord and My loving husband (which leads to us being loving parents):-) is all we need and I take that for granted sometimes when I get overwhelmed. :x ;;)
Over the weekend my stepsister surprised me with these super cute garland decorations! I was thinking about something like this and she totally read my mind. I even was thinking of doing my baby girl's name (Athena) over the crib and she got that done too!
We bought black out curtains for our DD, they are yellow from Target, and they work great especially since she still naps during the afternoon and during the summer when she goes to bed before sundown. I plan to buy some for DS's nursery since they worked out well with our first. They also are great to help keep the room cooler/warmer depending on the season.
Oh my goodness your nursery's are just sooo beautiful!!
We're doing the best with what money we've got my mum bought us the cot as an early shower present which was only about the equivalent of $70 new!! I love it as it's nice and compact and doesn't take up the whole room. The white drawers in the photo (bigger set on other side of room too will double up as a changing table) were mine when I was younger! I made the photo bunting and am currently in the process of painting a canvas for the room- I'm also planning on making a baby mobile and canopy for the cot. Going to get a nice rug and beanbag for the floor so baby and I can snuggle.
I'll pop another photo up when its all finished- love seeing them all
Has anyone bought or looked for curtains?! I've been told to get dark out curtains. What is everyone else doing for curtains?
We never did the black out curtains thing. We have blinds that keep the room pretty dim but I didn't want them to need complete blackness to fall asleep. I also never had the house totally silent either. Maybe that's just me.

We didn't do black out curtains until they were at least a year and only because they started waking so early when the sun would come up early. It didn't help ha! but they weren't completely blacked out and my boys can fall asleep in the light still anyways.
Baby girl will be sharing a room with my daughter and my daughter is two. So the room is generally messy except for the 10 second window after I clean it lol. I do need to get my daughter graduated from her toddler bed to a twin so I can move DD's clothes under her bed and baby girl's clothes to the dresser. That's about the extent of preparing for the new baby. Really glad I kept everything from DD lol
@Soon2bStaff the color is distant star by Behr marquee. It was supposed to turn out a greyish color but looks to be more of a light blue. We still laugh that we painted our daughters room blue but fell in love with the color and won't be changing it.
We don't have any extra rooms lol. Baby will start out in our room in a bassinet that we've had since my 8yr old was a baby lol. Then I have no idea. If we sell our house by then we can look for a place with another bedroom otherwise baby will have to share with either ds(8) or dd(5).
The wood wall so far, almost done! That's the only big project, I have to refinish a changing table/dresser and decorate. Going with a "rustic woodland" theme as Pinterest calls it
We're going to do a deep purple and aqua, similar to these colors. Poor second child.. My DDs nursery was all cute and coordinated with handmade decorations. I'll be lucky if I get more than just curtains hung in this LOs room!

What type of wood did you use? I was considering doing this because we have the same theme but wasn't sure how hard or expensive it would be
@baya5 I used fence wood because it is light and thin and easy to sand. I ended up finding some 6' x 8' fence panels at Lowes that were damaged and 75% off so we just took them home and disassembled the boards but you can just as easily find individual fence boards in the lumber section. This whole wall cost me $25 for the wood due to the discount!!
It was supposed to be a Dr Seuss room, but I finally have a place to put my Snow White stuff. So it's kind of a hybrid theme. But it still turned out pretty cute.
Right now, my nursery looks like an SUV full of IKEA boxes. We went out today and bought all the furniture. Hopefully we'll be able to put it all together this weekend. We got white furniture, painted the walls grey, and are going to do grey with yellow accents. Can't wait to start decorating!
We have a lot to do still but we have paint and a dresser, bookshelf, and crib! Plus one giant giraffe that was a gift. We're going to do a a sort of general travel/adventure theme. Still have to get the chair, put up curtains, and everything else on the walls. The frame over the bookshelf is for the ABC print shown below

The ABC print is super cute! So is the dog stuffed animal.

My SO's aunt is getting us the giant giraffe, too.
We still have a lot to do, but now that our shower is over I'm in full-on nesting mode! Put the crib together last night (already had the changing table put together) and I'm sooooooooooo excited to keep working on setting things up!
oh my soul. I need to get started on my nursery. I moved house late Oct. and still have boxes in what will be her room.. I have a nice rocking chair, and dresser we bought for her, as well as the bookshelf I had growing up.
Painted and put the crib together! Waiting on the dresser to arrive so I can organize the items we received from my shower! Still trying to find wall art.
ETA: I wish we had done blue walls with white furniture, but oh well! Once I get some lighting in there hopefully it won't be so dark.
We still have a lot to do. But I didn't think we would even have a nursery right now. Our house was built in 1940 so it's been one problem after the next!! So I'm happy with what I have right now lol.
Oh my gosh, I need to get moving. Hopefully buying the crib tonight. There is stuff in the nursery closet, but that's about it. Oh, and there is a valence on the window My shower is in 1 1/2 weeks, so hopefully after that I will get nesting!
Wow, I haven't even picked out paint! Ladies, help me out here to get the ball rolling. Team green, probably the reason I'm dragging my heels here since I'm not a big fan of neutral things. If it's a girl, I want floral with soft pinks and blues, if it's a boy, I want sports with blues and orange.
Crib - white or espresso (pictures below for reference)
Wall color - all four walls light gray or light gray with accent wall of navy blue (Benjamin Moore Athena, Gray Owl, or Alaskan Husky are at the top right now)
DD's room is painted BM's Summer Shower to give you an idea of what I liked before. We knew we were having a girl and was able to plan the soft pinks and blues for her room before she came.
