We told my husband's wonderful boss who just had her second son, that we were also having a boy, and Thursday she's bringing all of his newborn and 0-3 month clothes and toys over for us to have! A little bummed about not getting to pick everything out ourselves, but it was so sweet of her, and it's going to save us a TON of money on baby stuff including a sleeper! So yay! All we need now is a car seat (which DH's parents are buying) and some bigger things like a swing and a rocker, and we'll be good to go!
We bought a lot of gender neutral to the boyish side for my youngest daughter (ergo jogger ect) so we have those and about 35 cloth diapers so now I am just slowly adding more to that stash out of want not need. I got a bathtub some clothes and picked out the crib set just haven't ordered it yet. I plan on ordering the crib set after Christmas. Working hard to figure out what car seat I want to get. Thankfully we prepped knowing we were going to try so we have a good amount of stuff
I have a stroller problem. Please send help. I finally found the one I want on Craigslist so am going to look at it this weekend. DH is going to die if he finds out I bought another stroller.
Ha- I just bought a Tommee Tippee bottle. For no reason other than I've had a crappy couple days, and can't find anything gender neutral for clothes to buy...
February Siggy Challenge- Post pregnancy indulgences
I’ve been kind of jokingly scolded by various relatives/acquaintances about buying too much stuff before I have a shower - but no
one has mentioned hosting a shower for me, and I think it’s totally possible
that I won’t have one, so we’re just trying to be prepared and buy things when
we see them on sale. But of course I can’t
say that to anyone who has scolded me, because it would totally sounds like I’m
fishing for a shower! I would be fine
not having one, I just wish people would stop bringing it up. Now I’m starting to get irrationally hurt
every time this comes up, like “Yep!
That hypothetical shower that no one is throwing me!” when I didn’t even
care a couple of months ago. Ugh. Gotta love pregnancy hormones.
@katelin318 does your family do surprise showers? My mom is a total control freak and they threw a surprise one for her so she wouldn't stress herself out. My brother and I were born 12 years apart and she had lent out everything of mine so my parents were starting from scratch. Hilariously my aunt found my original crib and gave that as a shower present.. it housed 7 kids including my brother.
@jenniferamcooper My family all lives quite far away and I won't be able to swing a visit to them before the baby comes, so a surprise shower is probably not in the cards. My friends who live nearby are all wonderful and supportive, but mostly don't have kids and I think it's just a case of baby showers not really being on their radar. Ah well, c'est la vie. Maybe I'll turn out to be mistaken, but in the meantime I just need to work on not letting it get to me and allowing myself to be excited about the purchases that DH and I are making for our little nugget ourselves
I bought newborn diapers early on as they were on sale and I've been buying 1-2 cloth diapers per month to save on shelling out $$$$$ all at once. I've been stocking up on clothes from the UK ( where I am originally from) in all sizes 0-12 months as I know I won't find such traditional clothes in the USA.... And my biggest purchase is my prized silver cross balmoral pram which is pretty impracticle in the US but I "had" to have one !!
It is very tempting.. I started buying at 17 weeks.. I just order a pair of cute oneies off of amazon with the little funny sayings on the shirt.. But since i dont know gender of the baby yet i bought neutral colors.. Ones red the other is black.. One says "born to play xbox with my daddy" and the other says " Im cute mums cute dad's lucky".. i recently put an order in to get another one hasnt arrived yet.. That one has a facebook status on it and it quotes "i was up all night" then beneath another baby comment s Me too.. Lol they are hilarious.. But i wud buy little things for now.. Nothing extravagant..lol.. Once i hit 20 weeks im gonna probably start stocking up on diapers.. Cuz lord knows we will need a bunch of those.. And for those who will know the gender of baby by nov.. I would suggest shopping on cyber monday and black friday.. Mine as well get those big items that day.. Like cribs and strollers and bassinets and diaper bags etc.. Save some bucks b4 march and baby shower..
