38 weeks and I'm a Hair Stylist. 10 hour days on my feet is killing me. I'm self employed so I need to make as much as I can to save for maternity leave. This is my last real busy week until baby gets here..but intended to work up to two days before my due date.. My head is not into work and my body is spent! Anyone else still truckin' along with a labor intensive job!?

Re: Anyone still working on their feet!?

  • I teach so I'm up on my feet most of the day. I'm working up until labor. I'm absolutely exhausted by the end of each day.
  • Loading the player...
  • Also a teacher, so I'm on my feet quite a bit. They hurt by the end of some days, but sitting hurts my back quite a bit so I'd rather keep moving.
  • I'm a nurse...so I am on my feet majority of the day also. I am working up until I deliver. My feet are super swollen today!
  • Kindergarten teacher here! Worked until the day I was induced with my first. Plan on workin until it's go time with this one (due the 31st)! I'm either on my feet or getting up off the floor with my littles- either way, it's no easy task at this point but want to save as much time as I can to spend with my baby boy when he gets here.
  • I manage a subway and work 9-10 hour shifts on my feet. It's exhausting. Monday is my last day and I cannot wait. I hope all you ladies get some relief soon!
  • I am a phlebotomist and I am on my feet all day. My last day is next Friday, I might make next Thursday my last day, I'm so tired and I get up at 4 in the morning, so I am mentally done.
  • Special education teacher. Constantly on my feet except for 2 periods a day.
  • I test dairy cows and walk about three miles plus climb stairs/ladders. On top of that lots of heavy lifting and driving. Today is an easy day and I'm sitting in a chair inside the barn between sets of cows!
  • I'm up at 4 and still going to the gym each morning. I teach high school, too, so I'm on my feet and trying to keep 30+ kids each hour engaged in our work. I will work until this little boy makes his arrival! Good shoes and staying hydrated has been key for keeping my swelling at bay at least a little.

  • 12 hour shift plus a part time job. 38.5 weeks and it's exhausting. The good news is today was my last day as I'm being induced Monday. This pedi I'm getting feels amazing!!!
  • Yes!! I'm a scrub tech in the OR. My poor feet and back are killing me by the end of the day. I'm 38.1 weeks. I'm scheduled for a c-section next Friday and plan on working till then. Just trying to save all my off days to spend with the baby and not feel like I'm "wasting" them while I wait on his arrival.
Not much longer moms, we got this!!
  • I am on my feet as well.  I am a professor and I am teaching until the day before my due date, which is this Thursday.  I have been giving the lectures (1 hr. 20 min - 2x a day) on my feet, but today I did sit down for a bit while my students did an activity.

It's exhausting!  Hang in there, mommas!  Our time will soon come:)

  • High school teacher, so on my feet most of the day as well. I wear sneakers and guzzle water all day, but I'm still swelling at the end of the day. My due date is Friday and I plan on working until baby comes. My students are convinced my water will break in class. We'll see.....
  • I work retail and was on my feet all day. The belly band really helped out. I was going to work all the way until labor, which I figured would be this weekend but I got lucky and my water broke on Monday morning (one of my days off, 2 days before due date). It was getting miserable towards the end so I was doing extra work to try and get the process going. Lol. Good luck! Your baby will be here before you know it and it will be a different kind of exhausting.

My due date is Friday, too, and my 7th hour says the same thing to me. One day they said they wished I would go into labor so they could have a free day. I was like "I will have this baby in the classroom just to spite you!" I think they would freak out if my water broke in the middle of class.

My students are on board with the "free day" too! Other teachers thought kids would be worried about what to do to help me if I go into labor, and I corrected them promptly. Most of my students are most concerned about an escape route ;) I told them where they can go if I need them to leave the classroom during our class period. I also have a driver set up for each of the hours just in case I cannot drive myself. I pray to God that I don't go into labor at school.

  • I'm really hoping I don't either! I'm hoping for middle of the night because my husband works almost 45 minutes away and then our hospital is 1.5 hours away. I do have a student with a note from her mom giving her permission to drive me if I need her.

I haven't really talked to any of my classes about what to do if I do go I to labor in class, but I feel like there will be at least one or two in each class who will know what to do and will go get someone to let them know it's time.
