I thought we could lighten the mood a bit and just for fun and entertainment have a laugh. We've all heard over again some pretty ridiculous celeb baby names, did you know Penn from Penn and Teller named his daughter "Moxie Crimefighter" So what are some ridiculous baby names you've heard? Celeb or IRL..

I see this going down hill, because people get offended when a name they like is listed off but what the heck.....

Elyjah is a name someone I went to hs just used and I just can't with the spelling.

Also anything that's a word or a food like north, Apple, etc.
  • Loading the player...
  • I was going to say Apple. There are kids in my friend's class who are named Tequila (pronounced Tek-will-ah, duh!) and Chardonney. Or some other wine, both are just sad to me. I don't mind most place names but food names I just don't understand.
  • Tequila wow. Elijah is ok but I hate the younique spelling thing. I think Beyonce actually tried to trademark or copyright Blu Ivy's name. Btw didn't want to offend anyone with this topic just thought it might be fun
  • No joke...River of Fire, first name.
  • I don't know why, but I love the name "Blue Ivy".
  • When my mom worked for an OBGYN, these were some of the best names: Chrome Yellow (color of the car that the kid was conceived in). Placenta (pronounced pla-cen-cha)... The woman saw it on a medical chart and thought it was a beautiful girl's name.

I have a friend who named her daughter a nice name but I absolutely hate the spelling: Gretchynn. I don't know some other different names I've seen on my FB feed lately: Lenyx, Chessa, Jessalynn, Traeh. Just not a fan of made up or unique spellings personally.

Edit forgot some: Nevaeh, Vaida, Kipton,Trayton

    it won't post everything
  • My dad claims to have known someone named Donald Duck. Totally guessing that ones an urban legend.

I think the name that I dislike most is Bentley. For me that's a car.

Following that, there are kids my friend sees (a pediatrician) who have been named Shithead (shi-thade).
  • working in medical field I've seen some crazies . One that sticks out is la-a pronounced la-dash-a

I see a LOT of terrible names in my line of work. I should start writing them down.

ETA: I worked with elementary school twin girls a long time ago named Chardonnay and Merlot. There was also a tag in that same classroom for a boy named Box. I never met him (was working with an after school program), so not sure if that was a nickname? Or..?

I know, this always comes up, for the last 6 years that I've been on pregnancy boards. And I hesitate so much to say this, but my sister in law works at a hospital and says that she actually saw this name (lemonjello, pronounced "le MON jhello) She's not the kind of person to pull a prank.
I know that no one will believe me because I'm a random internet stranger but I was blown away to hear someone IRL who has had a lemonjello encounter!

  • I prefer the correct spelling to names. Other than that, I don't care what you name your child. I taught an Awesome. I enjoyed calling out his name.

Girl, you know you have not met a la-a. That is an urban myth people love to tell.
My same pediatrician friend has seen a ka-a, so I'd believe it :/
  • I promise I'm not fibbing lol
  • Grew up with a guy named Lyons (like "lions"). The only thing worse than the name is the spelling of it. I'm pretty sure he's not fond of it either since he now goes by his middle name
  • Joe Louis Arena. If you're not from MI, it's where our hockey team the Detroit Red Wings play. The parents last name is arena and they named their kid Joe Louis..... Now they're building a new hockey arena

Yeah i've seen a lot of the car names: porche, mercedes, lexus etc. If you love it for your kid great, its just not my cup of tea but also those names are not very outrageous compared to others
  • Whenever I worked in retail, some mom came in with her two younger kids, one of which, she kept calling Chocolate..... I hope it was a nick name but I kinda doubt it.
  • Speaking of Navaeh... I saw a Naveah. Kind of eliminates the "heaven spelled backwards" meaning when you spell it wrong...

  • DéMarsha Laquara Smith.

What the hell is wrong with you to do this to your kid.

I had to unfriend them. I couldn't look at that name every day.
  • I saw a birth announcement this week for a little girl, Jacqueline Rocket. It struck me as very celeb-esque circa 2005.

Fun fact, Lyons is the name of a town in Colorado named after the founder's surname. I think it's french.

It's actually pronounced Leo not ( Lion) . It's extremely common in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. The spelling isn't incorrect either.
  • Sorry guys, but the cultural insensitivity in this thread is already making me cringe.

The name I posted is not from any race you would expect, just a disclaimer. It's just so absurd. Like why. Why. Why. Why. Everyone else in that family has really meaningful names which makes it weirder.
  • *patiently waits for the "My mom's cousin's roommate is a teacher and she totes knew a lemonjello" and other urban legend names*

    My mom is a teacher..
But the weirdest name she's ever seen came from a parent; she renamed herself sparkle. I'm guessing it was related to her career choice..

Also, speaking of teachers because I'm dying with how funny I find this, today I got an outfit for the baby to take a picture with my mom in . Cause you know, teacher and apple. Idk, I thought it was funny.

Ehh, this reply rubs me the wrong way. It's one thing to side eye a totes younique spelling, (like Austy.nne above), it's another thing to throw down something that is very clearly part of a certain culture/group's identity.

It's like saying the worst name you've ever heard is Ahmed or Juan or something.
It has NOTHING to do with their culture. They're Russian and philipino. Everyone in their family (including themselves) have really meaningful names, and then this. I think that's why it bugs me so much. I mean literally every single one of their family members went in like a quest to find their names and make sure they had thought and meaning.

    Edit:sp

Also this is why I clairfied after @AdventureMama said something because it isn't culturally anything. It's a family you would never expect it from.
  • I have a cousin who named his daughter Heaven, another cousin with a granddaughter named Havyn, a niece who named her daughter Saylar, and a niece named Remy Malone. I have personally met a Sparkle, Precious, and Fairy.

  • I wasn't thinking about the cultural insensitivity I was thinking more along the lines of the outrageous celeb names like Penn's daughter's name "Moxie Crimefighter" now that cannot be cultural or anything but I don't want anyone getting offended or upset I love you all so maybe we should drop this post
