AF just left the building. I resume temping this morning and will start having sex EOD

R/R/CS: took my temp this morning for the first time since AF started 5 days ago and to my surprise it's still really high 98.2 when my usual post-AF temp have been 97.8, for the past 7 months. This just add a piece to my really messed up body. I know I'm not pregnant because the nurse at the OBGYN made me take a test at home yesterday when I called for the thin period/huge clot to make sure I didn't add an ectopic pregnancy. And the FRER was negative. So here's my question. do you have a winter and a summer bbt? My highest temp last month after O were the highest I had in 7 months.

WAYDTGKU: We're taking this month off of actively trying, but I'm still temping, CM, OPKs, CP

R/R/CS: ***Question*** So, this was probably dumb, but I used two brands of OPKs yesterday (Wondfo and CB Digital) and got a positive on both in the early evening. This morning I got another positive on the Wondfo, but the digi was negative. How would you chart that?

Also, this late ovulation thing blows, especially now that I've started temping. Life was so much simpler when I just relied on OPKs. Temping has made me way more anxious.

GTKY: Who's your celebrity crush? I have so many... I can't pick just one. Chris Pratt, Chris Evans, Tom Hiddleston, Ryan Gosling. I could go on.

  • @chrlyr I think I would chart it as positive. Digital opk seems to be the same as Digital Hpt. A little less sensitive. Last month I had 2 very positive OPK with cheapies and only negative with digital. And I know I ovulated because temp roses after the 2 positive.

WAYDTGKU: bbt, cm, cp, opk- and starting bromelain supplements today

R/R/CS: Based on opk, cm, cp, and a temp spike this morning over the coverline I *think* I ovulated yesterday. If so, timing was awesome, and I'm feeling good about this cycle. Waiting for Sunday/Monday temps to confirm and started taking bromelain today.

GTKY: Who's your celebrity crush? Benedict Cumberbatch. I have a thing for Brits and interesting faces.

WAYDTGKU: BBT, CM, OPK (attempting, I thought I ovulated yesterday but not according to the test)

R/R/CS: This may sound ridiculous..sometimes I when I read the details on FF it sounds like the app is juding me- "you took your temperature at different times, it will not be accurate" Ah! It was only 55 minutes apart and it was once. Just deal with it FF.

R/R/CS: my rave - got crosshairs today! rant - cm is overly frustrating. WHY is it creamy AND stretchy? HOW is it watery AND sticky? WHERE is the magic egg white CM?!
***chart stalk please*** I know it's from 2 cycles ago, but with everything I've learned here, FF, and even Google, I think O was CD 11 not 8. That would explain why AF was "late" but it doesn't explain why I got a + that day AND the day after it was done. Help!

GTKY: Who's your celebrity crush? I've recently fallen in love with Ice Cube, Jr. Lol

ETA: these PNV are *too* tasty! Also, I might just hang out here in WTO a little longer before going to TWW this time. It makes me less anxious. Is that okay? :)

R/R/CS: I'm pretty sure I had EWCM the morning of CD20 but back to creamy in the afternoon, then possibly watery yesterday, and back to regular ol' creamy today. I was hoping to see a spike today or yesterday but all I have is a slight rise... :((  I guess I just wait some more and see? :-S

  • @KASG thanks, so if I get one more high temp tomorrow CD20 would be it? CPs are really my best guesses and I don't feel very confident about it yet. I tested negative on OPK on CD18 and CD19 though but I have been wondering about the timing and accuracy of the tests. Or I just missed the surge since I didn't test for a few days after. Thanks for your input!

R/R/CS: I got a second high on the CB adv this morning, was really hoping for a peak. DH is complaining that he is coming down with a cold, which means HIO will be near impossible (he just has zero interest every time he gets a cold and can never seem to get the deed done). I'm praying for a peak this afternoon or tomorrow, cause at best, I may be able to get one more day of HIO from him tomorrow if he isn't feeling too yucky.

@jolydan We haven't turned the heat on in our house yet (I live in Florida), so it's been cooler the last few mornings, and I've noticed a large drop in my temps. Not exactly your situation, but maybe it is a summer/winter thing for you.

@chrlyr I would also chart that one as positive. Maybe make a note of the positive and negative on different brands and see what your temps do over the next few days. You can then adjust as necessary, and maybe identify one brand that works best for you for future months. (Unless you just want to keep using both! :) )

WAYDTGKU: HIO, checking CM. OPKS, temping

R/R/CS: The elusive CM strikes again!!  Yesterday I'm pretty sure when I checked it you would have considered that to be 'watery' and this morning when I checked it, its slightly stretchy?  There wasn't much though and we had just had sex probably about an hour, maybe 2 before I checked it.  I'll check again this afternoon to see what's going on.  Just makes me glad that for the most part the OPKS somewhat match up with temps.  Now I just really hope that I do in fact actually O this month.  I'm supposed to O tomorrow according to FF and we've had pretty good timing, even better if we HIO tomorrow AM which is almost a given for us on the weekend.

GTKY: Who's your celebrity crush? Bradley Cooper, Matthew McConaughey, (im sure I spelled that wrong) Adam Levine (tattoos what?!?)  Brad Pitt, but he was much hotter back in the day, like the movie about the 3 brothers, can't think of the name of the movie now.....basically anybody with a nice muscular chest and I wont complain about tattoos either  (which is funny because my DH has no tattoos and is in shape, but not super amazing shape)

@jolydan     I don't think temps are  winter/summer per say but I do think they are affected by the temps outside and how that relates to the temps in your house.

@chrlyr       If you are somebody who only gets one LH surge on the OPKS you could just go back to using them and stop temping.  I've been pretty lucky that I have only seen one LH surge and its right around the time I'm supposed to O, usually starts a day or 2 before O.  It would really try not to stress out about the temping too much, but I know that is easier said than done.  Especially if you have a pretty consistent pattern from the OPKS, I would just keep it in the back of your mind the day that it usually happens and keep taking your temp but don't over analyse it until you get closer to the possible O date?? Sorry its making you anxious.  Usually it doesn't bother me too much until closer to O and post O but that's why I'm going to stop temping post O I think.

@housewifehobbyist   so did FF give you a coverline already?? Because I thought that if it gave you crosshairs/coverline, that is in an indication that you did O.  Can you attach your chart??

@KASG         Yea, looking at your chart from before I would have guessed CD 11, not 8 also.  I would agree with the PP that it could have given you the dotted CH based on the CM you put in.  I wonder what it would do if you took it out?  Last month I had put some info in about my CM and FF gave me dotted CH too and then it changed the O date when I took the info out.  I ended up leaving it out because I wasn't really 100% confident in how to classify the CM really anyways so I just went with out it.  If you are talking about positive and negatives on an OPK, you can have multiple surges throughout your cycle.  Also for some women what time of the day they take them can either cause it turn or not turn and for some its very sensitive to how long you refrain from drinking anything and holding your urine.  This is why I like the $1 store OPKS.  I use them in the AM and I don't drink anything after I go to bed usually.  So I use them with FMU and I have not had any problems turning them positive.  I've used them in the afternoon a few times and got a 2nd faint line, but its always darker in the AM.  The Wondfos I think are meant to be used mid day/afternoon time.  So, it can also vary on the test you are using.

@hboaz     Sorry about AF......I hope you have a huge glass of wine this evening!!

@bcooke314     I hope your DH feels better soon!!

@anj27        I'd just keep temping and I'd HIO just in case but if your temps stay up it looks like you may have O on CD 20.  You have to have 3 higher temps than the prev 6 to confirm O, so you are on your way there if your temps stay high.  My CM has been a little wacky too....but I have noticed a significant change in the last few days.  I think that really takes a cycle or 2 to really know what you are looking at.

@oandmplus1   I'd get some emergen-c and some cold eeze and feed that man OJ and pump him full of fluids.  Make his favourite food for dinner and try to 'snuggle' with him but you can always have it try to go other places!!!

@pretzel2plus1    I'd be HIO if you think its possible you O'd later than normal last month!!

R/R/CS:  At this point I'm looking at a short LP and it's freaking me out. If I O tomorrow, which there are zero signs, it'll be a 12 day LP... Based on CM from last month (wasn't temping), I think O might not show up until Tuesday or Wednesday next week, giving me an 8-9 day LP... :((  I know this is not the best for having a successfully fertilized egg implant. I made DH run out and buy me B6 last night in hopes that if I start taking it now, maybe it will help lengthen LP by next cycle? I'm already taking B12, folic acid, and gummy calcium and multi V; hopefully adding B6 to the group will make a difference...

R/R/CS: Day 25, still no O. I'm starting to just relax and go with the flow and let my body do whatever it wants to. I figure I'm still coming off the effects of BC. But, and this may be TMI here, but I just went pee and noticed a bit of blood on the tissue. Which, with my work's toilet tissue, could've just been from irritation because it's not the softest in the world. Then I came back to my desk and had an insanely intense cramp. So. Not sure if "AF" is going to show sans the ovulation, or what. I've been reading up on anovulation and things, because I knew it was possible (especially with stress), but I'd never educated myself on it, and it's an interesting education.
And DH is starting to talk about going back on BC and trying again next year for a summer baby, and I'm just sitting over here like... healthy couples take up to a year, and I'm not even ovulating -- my stress is basically being our BC... Why bother trying to remember a daily pill? Just keep the stress levels going!
Only being slightly sarcastic here, hah.
Plus, someone suggested just temping my cycles and avoiding sex during my FW. I'd rather just do that. I'm so used to temping, and so not used to taking pills.

I told him the statistics of it taking up to a year & he just thought "oh yeah, whatever." 7 months later, he's wishing we would've started a lonnnnng time ago too lol TTC blows my mind. • @bbrooke92 - Haha, every time I tell DH about it taking up to a year for a healthy couple, he's like "remember your mother?" and walks away.
My mum had seven children, four of which were conceived while she was on BC, and I was conceived after she already had her tubes tied. So, that, coupled with the fact that my mother's side of the family is full of large sub-families (uncle has 6? kids, other uncle has 5, and so on) - he's convinced I'm extremely fertile.
    I just sit there like...

If only all of us were as fertile as my mother...
Hah, had a BSC moment where I felt like telling my mother to "share her fertility" with everyone on this board.
Totally plausible. Like... just handing out candy - "Here's your fertility boost! Good luck! Go have sex now!"

But - DH is confused about temping and how it's connected to ovulating. He just looks at me like I'm crazy when I mention anything about my temperature, so I tend not to try and explain it anymore. He's slowly getting it.. he has his moments where he shows that maybe deep down he does listen to the things I try to explain, haha.

  • @izza2 If I could rewind the clock I would have stopped taking BC much sooner than I did & started temping before I did. I would highly recommend not going back on BC & continuing to temp to keep track of your cycles & FW so when you are ready hopefully you will have seen enough of a pattern that you know without a doubt when FW is. But that's me. I would also highly recommend finding & making time to deal with stress so that you can try to manage that better? Anovulatory cycles can happen for many reasons but you may not have even ovulated yet. Some women just ovulate really late. Hang in there!
  • @MNturnsVA -- I'm trying to convince DH of that. As it is, the last time I was on the BCP I was just busy with work and household things, and kept forgetting to take it. Now I have more on my plate to handle, and having to take a pill every day (doesn't seem like it, but) is more work than rolling over and grabbing the thermometer at 5 in the morning and putting that in my FF app. And aside from that, I really hated the way BCP made me feel in terms of weight gain and overall emotional problems.
I actually started counseling a few weeks ago, and she's been giving me some tips on dealing with stress. At the moment I'm in the "exploratory" phase where I'm trying her suggestions and seeing what's helping and what's not. I really just need to make like a daily hour-planner so that I can write down exactly what I'll be doing at all times. That's like... 90% of my stress; not having everything planned, haha.

  • @ashbear720 Take a deep breath girl!! You are only 2 months into this! And if you are just coming off of BC there is no telling what your next few months may look like. There are so many variables of so many different things that could happen! I'm glad to hear you got a BBT though because I think that will help. Just try to hang in there. I know it's hard & frustrating & you don't really know what is going on with your body but at some point you will see a pattern. And then that pattern may change. Our bodies are not machines unfortunately & don't work on demand or like clock work, for most of us anyways. So I wouldn't get too worried just yet. Hang in there!! It will get better, just take it one day at a time!
  • *** Question/CS ***

So, since I'm not actually spotting, and most likely starting AF... again... I've noticed a semi-pattern on my last two cycles.

    Link to my two charts:
    https://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/5e5635/

I came off BC on the 25th of August, so I'm sure I'm still getting lasting effects from that.
However, my first chart I had a temperature shift, solid CH on FF, and then AF started 5 days later.

This cycle, I had a clear temperature shift between CD 21 and 22, and now AF is going to start - a few days later.

What's with the one high temp, and then AF starting within a week of that happening? I know you can have a short LP, but if (and that's a big if) these are temperature shifts from ovulating -- isn't 4-5 days even super short for a short LP?

    Just looking for some thoughts.
Feel free to just tell me to keep tracking and ignore this for now and see what happens when I'm further off BC...

  • @MNturnsVA thanks so much always for your kind support. :)  I had my Mirena IUD out back in March, and went back to nuva ring until the beginning of June, and stopped HBC at that point. My period pretty much snapped to being regular right away (28-29 days since stopping nuva ring), but of course I just started temping last month so I have no idea what happened ovulation-wise during those months. I got about 7 temps at the end of last cycle, and temps were consistently higher than they've been since AF, so I'm assuming I at least O'd last month? **I attached my overlayed charts - what do you think?** But yeah, I think O was late based on CM... I am VERY glad I started temping though, because last month I just went by the 14 days before next period rule (as suggested in FF and Pink Pad) and that is apparently way off for me. I can't wait to get through this month so I can start seeing what's really going on! It's just so stressful sometimes. I'm not good at being out of control!

  • @bbrooke92 -- We live in New York. She's always up for hugs, though. She lives by the philosophy that you need to hug someone for like 3 minutes a day or something to be grounded and stay healthy. Trust me, she'd be more than happy to give you a long hug, haha. She hugs complete strangers, if they're up for it.
I think it's weird, but, to each their own.
