Feeling post happy today

First Question: Does anything run in your genetics such as one sex or the other? Multiples?
DH was sure that baby #1 would be a girl bc every other generation in his family is girl heavy which is weird but I don't mind. Well, she was/is a girl and we were both dying for a girl. DH is hoping for a boy this time and any healthy baby is great but I'd love to reuse the girl clothes. I can't imagine having a DS at this point. I'm weird, I
know. We'll see if DC#2 is a girl, too. My BIL has 4 girls.

Second question: Obviously you want healthy but are you hoping for one sex or they other? Reason?

Excuse the hyper post... I drank caffeine. *thumbs up*

Re: Feeling post happy today

  • My husband is convinced the men in his family only make Y sperm because everyone only has sons, all the females have married into the family.  His mother even refused to have a 4th child because she didn't want to end up with 4 boys.

That being said, I am worried that I won't get the daughter that I desperately want at some point so I am really hoping that this baby is a girl to get it out of the way for lack of a better word.  I would hate to get to baby 3 and be worried that I was going to end up with all boys.  I would like a mix of sexes if at all possible.  On the other hand, I would want this baby to be a boy because I think that my MIL would never leave us alone if we had a girl.  She even said at one point "I had 3 boys so I'm waiting for grandkids to get my girl".  Uh no, not your girl, MY girl, your grand girl thank you very much.  Girl combined with first grandchild would just put it all into overdrive.

  • Well my husband has only brothers, one has two boys and the other, two girls. We have a boy and feel like/have fingers crossed for a girl because why not?

Now in my family, my mother has only sisters, and my parents had 4 girls before having a boy. Two of my sisters have kids and both have one or more of each sex.

Twins ran in my family on my mom's side for a long time but not the last 4 generations.
  • DH's father is 1 of 4 boys, so I've always figured we would just have boys. Granted, DH has a sister and a brother, but brother also has only boys. I *feel* like this is a boy, but it's probably just because of that. I would be happy either way.

  • @Sgoldberg247 - H's family is the same on his paternal side. All boys and all the women are married in to the family. H wants a girl ironically. I don't care.
  • My DH and I wanted to have at least 1 boy "to carry on the last name".  We knocked it out of the park with the first at bat.  This time around, I have no preference.  We have all the boy stuff already, but my sister already told me I could have all of her girl stuff (she has 2 girls and is done having kids).  Sooooo win win based on things.

I would really like to have all the girl things.  Nail polich, makeup, jewels, doing hair, etc.  But a family of boys is great too.  :-)

  • We don't have any patterns of all boys or all girls on either side of our family. It actually seems to be a pretty even mix. We've already got a little girl so are really hoping for a boy this time. DH is the last of his family name so it's up to us to carry on the name. I actually feel like this one is a boy but it could just be wishful thinking.

  • I come from a big family of almost all girls--4 girls and 1 boy. That's really the only thing that's an indicator of a lot of one sex or the other, though. My sisters and SIL have a pretty good mix of boys and girls. We have a girl so my husband is hoping for a boy. I would be very happy with a boy, but to be honest I'm pretty nervous about the idea of having a son. So part of me is hoping for a girl. I kind of think about it in terms of the relationship my DD will have with the baby...it would be so fun for her to have a sister that's close to her age (she's only 10 months now), but it would also be great for her to have a brother to be protective of her. Haha! I'm overthinking this...
