  • I can't wait to bring DD (19 months) trick or treating so I can eat all of her candy!!
  • @pinottoparenthood the nurses I work with keep two fully stocked candy dishes. I told them I hate them but still steal a few pieces a week. I also walk past a scale every 10 minutes and just say nope, not today.
  • My students have a quiz and independent activity today and I'm super glad. I was speaking the entire class every single period yesterday...its been a long week and I'm tired and I don't feel like teaching today. Thank goodness this was in the plans and not just deviance from my job...

  • I really wish I hadn't picked up call on Saturday for the surgical services department I work for.... I want to spend the day with DD shopping for new fall clothes! Wahhh!!
  • @imrachella Yessss! All my classes are taking tests/quizzes today, and it's the BEST! I can actually get stuff done. Slash bump.

  • I ate ice cream for dinner last night, and didn't even feel bad about it... And I 100% bump during work #SorryNotSorry
  • We announced to extended family and friends this week, its our first child and everyone was so excited for us. My mom called me the day after to see how I'm doing and also tell me one of my aunts, who is a control freak and likes to exaggerate on little things, was giving her an earful of what I should and shouldn't be doing, that I will be on bedrest due to a condition I have (endometriosis) because her daughter had problems with both of her pregnancies so I will to. I asked my mom since when did my Aunt become my Dr? I think I will listen to my Dr before her, and if my Dr feels I need bedrest or take extra precautions then I will. She is also the person who hosts all of the family gatherings around the holidays so I don't know if I really want to sit through her constant nagging. Thank goodness she lives a couple hours away.
  • While I'm waiting for the doors to my clinic to open, I'll start!
One of my sisters, who has five children, has decided on a "selective, delayed vaccination schedule." She blames vaccines for her oldest's asthma and allergies and also feels there's a correlation between vaccines and developmental issues. For this reason, her children will not be allowed around my LO until he or she is fully vaccinated.
I may have already posted this, but DH and I were talking about it last night so it's fresh on my mind. An added bonus is that this means I won't feel obligated to travel 15+ hours to family events, because I will have already made my stance clear.

I applaud this. We ask everyone who DS befriends if they vaccinate. We've only had to stop being friends with one family (mom of twins who tried to convince me the government admitted to causing the measles outbreak at Disney last December). I also donated several hundred ounces of breast milk and asked every single mom if she vaccinated her baby/babies before we donated it.

  • @pinottoparenthood people choose c sections for no medical reason? That's allowed? What? I feel like a c section is so much harder than a vaginal birth!!!! Who would choose that??

  • Fffc: I posted this in a different thread yesterday but it belongs here. DH got out of the Air Force a year ago and we still have our IDs and fully plan on using them to get the military discount at Disneyland. They don't know he's separated and the IDs haven't expired. Plus he was deployed the last two times I went so he couldn't go!

  • I forgot how far along I was on Monday. I was telling a neighbor I was 12 weeks, but I turned 14 weeks on Tuesday. I remember with my first, my doctor saying how moms that are on their fourth+ pregnancies sometimes forget how far along they were. In my head I was like no way I would ever not remember how far along I am. And then it happened to me..... 4th pregnancy problems.
  • I confessed my miscarriages for the first time yesterday publicly for Remembrance Day. I'm glad I finally got it out there, but now I'm afraid they're going to be used against me somehow in an abortion argument, which I take part in regularly. (Although if it's an argument, I tend to step away. I prefer *discussions*.)

I completely agree but I have heard of it! I guess some people think it's easier than delivery... and some people have fairly easy recoveries, although I would NOT want to have to recover from major surgery if I didn't have to! I had a wonderful delivery experience vaginally so I especially don't get it... but if you look up elective c-sections, it's a whole big controversy.

Yeah i dont really get why someone would choose an elective c-section if there wasnt any medical need for it, but i do know someone who wants to have a c-section to avoid stretching/tearing her lady parts. Personally id rather not have surgery if i dont need to.

My confession: our immediate families and most of my friends know im pregnant. Ive been planning on announcing to all our extended family around christmas when we'll be going to visit DHs family. But now a large portion of my extended family just decided they are coming to visit for thanksgiving since my parents just moved here. Honestly im kinda grumpy cuz i didnt want to tell them this early, but there's no way i can hide it. Im not very close to them and usually only see them like once every couple of years.
  • Confession: I just realized I don't know ds's eye color. I mean I know what they look like but I am not sure if they're brown or Hazel ish or what shade etc. The nb eye color thread made me realize that.

  • I spent at least 2 hours this week creating a baby shower registry during work hours. We're pretty busy this time of year so I'm feeling a little guilty. But OMG all the cute tiny things!

  • Also: I just saw my week 14 ticker^ and now I want filet mignon.

  • @NachosAndPeaches I know the feeling. My son has blue/grey around the outside and dark brown on the inside around the pupil...What do you even call that!?

  • I'm not ashamed to say I almost took an elective induction at 39 weeks with DD. I had so much swelling (OB was actually getting concerned) and I was in so much pain just being that I couldn't imagine having to be pregnant another 3+ weeks. I didn't end up doing it though since I went into labor at 37+1 but I would have.

I had some minor complications during L&D and after the fact my doctor basically said good thing I went into labor naturally because he thought I may have been developing pre-e, so maybe an induction would have been medically necessary

  • I was communicating with a woman in Customer Service (I am a regional Compliance Manager for a big company) yesterday and she tried to pawn of her work to me and another woman I work closely with because "she didn't have the bandwidth to get it done". I was so pissed and told her with her boss in copy that it was s CS responsibility.

My FFFC is i shamelessly told my boss (corporate Compliance director) today the story in hopes he'll relay the story to the Global Customer Service Director to how worthless this lady in CS actually is.
  • I am about to lose it on a co-worker.  She is in her late 60's? and stops in every day to "see what I am snacking on."  She means well, but lady stop commenting on what I am putting in my mouth.  I am down 12 pounds so far and I don't feel bad for drinking the Orange Sunkist that I have been craving.

Proud of you for not being ashamed and for voicing your experience on such a big day! I still have a hard time saying the words out loud but post something on Facebook yesterday.

My FFFC: My in laws are here this weekend, which is very nice, but we're all going to a concert tonight. I have to be the DD of course and I'm honestly really grumpy about it. It's not even a concert I care about and I don't feel like driving 30 minutes into the city (I hate driving in the city!!) and staying up late as hell to drive their drunk butts around. I just wanna stay home, drink my decaf tea, wear my cozy socks, and watch a movie! ...end rant.

  • As an L&D nurse I have a love/hate relationship with pitocin. I've seen women progress beautifully with it. I've also seen it stress babies to the point of needing resuscitation, stress babies to point of needing "emergent" c-sections (most emergent c-sections are the result of pitocin misuse/overuse), and I can't count the number of failed pit inductions at 39 weeks that end in sections.

Basically, if you need it- it's a wonderful drug that can help women progress who have stalled out. But if you don't need it, if you're only in early labor, or you're 39 weeks with a closed and thick cervix - stay far, far away.
  • As for my fffc- were taking a weekend away at Disneyworld, just DH and I. And I don't feel bad at all for leaving dd at home!

Tried to edit for spelling, ended up deleting the whole thing and can't get it back. Confession: I like to think I'm tech savvy, but here lately, my 4 y/o is more advanced than I am with an iPhone. Good golly.
  • My FFFC: I'm kind of hoping when I return to work after maternity leave my exMIL will offer to watch the baby during the summer. She watches my daughter every day after school and will watch her all day long during the summer. We have always had a great relationship, even after divorce. She gets along well with my husband and new inlaws. It'd be nice to have the baby with my daughter at the same place during the summer and it'd be cheaper than day care for a couple months. (We'd pay her). But I don't feel like it's something I can ask. I'd put the baby in day care when school starts. Being with my daughter would be different than my exMIL watching the baby when she's usually kid free during the school day. If it doesn't work out, no biggie. But that's my confession.

So I'm intrigued, in the case of a medically needed induction (in my case FGR, induction scheduled for 39 weeks) what is the typical procedure? I was at 30% and almost 1 cm at 38+4 when they scheduled the induction. I ended up going into labor in the middle of the night (38+4/5) and then stalled at 4 cm so I got pitocin to continue instead of having to come back in 48 hours. I think they had planned on cervadil and then pitocin but I can't remember for sure. Is there a "safest" (meaning least likely to have complications or require an e-c/s) for mostly or completely closed and thick inductions?

  • If I could feed my neighbors yippy dogs to a mountain lion.. I would. They never shut up, and the neighbors let them piss and shit on the concrete slab under their patio all day.. Then just wash it off into the yard with a hose.. Gross.

I have a disney confession too. Yesterday at around 3pm I booked a disney vacation, but swore up and down that I would not go crazy over planning things ...by 10 pm last night, I had an excel spreadsheet with a day by day breakdown of all my dining reservations/ daily park plans/ and provided DH with a detailed analysis of every single room in our hotel- just for the hell of it. I guess it could be worse though. I could have had a minute-by minute breakdown of the week.

I could totally picture DH doing this! He's an accountant and builds spread sheets for EVERYTHING!
