Lol my whole post didn't actually post for some reason! Anyway let's try again...
We are having a baby girl and love the name Elsie, and are thinking of a double barrelled first names such as Elsie-Mae or Elsie-Lou... Do any of you lovely ladies have any other ideas of 'add on' names? Or do we just stick to Elsie and choose a cute middle name to go with?
Would love to hear your ideas! Hope all going well with all of your pregnancies! Xx
I personally think Elsie is nice alone. Not a fan of ad ons. Elsie is becoming popular. Maybe Mae for a middle name. I also like Elsie Jane or Elsie Elizabeth. I always like to consider the intials and flowing of syllables. I was also going to suggest the baby name board. Maybe something would jump out at you there.
Ad-on names sound very prissy to me for some reason. Elsie is a lovely name on its own, it doesn't need an ad-on. You could do a middle name that sounds sort of like an ad-on like Elsie May.
I think Elsie is gonna be quite popular soon because of Elsa and frozen. Maybe that's fine but if you're wanting a little more unique I think an add on is nice. Elsie Jane ElsieRay ElsieLynn
Coming from the south, I'd steer clear of the add on names. Reminds me of Billy-joe-bob and Ellie May lol. I love Elsie, just think I'd go with a different middle name.
I must admit, the -Mae add-ons remind me of Elly May Clampett too ... My dad loved that stupid Beverly Hillbillies show. And yes, then my brain fm goes to JimBob. Just not my style.

I'm not sure I agree Elsa is that popular bc of frozen. I grew up around the little mermaid generation and no one was naming their kid Ariel. I'd think Elsa inspired by FroZen would happen more so if th parents had an older hold choose the name.
As to OP I'm not crazy about double names and would say do a separate first and middle name.

I read somewhere (on the bazillions of naming sites I've been looking at lately *eyeroll*) that Anna and Elsa have both been rising a lot (or supposedly a lot) in popularity over the last couple years... I don't know if the rise is really going to be very significant though. Just that they're statistically rising some...

I wouldn't use a hyphen, at least in her legal name. Everyone I know that has one says it can be a pain with paperwork and things like that.
I would use the second name as a middle name, and then just call her both names if you want. I think that's the easiest for her.
I also like Elsa as a given first name, with Elsie as a nickname, so she has a more formal sounding name for when she's older for resumes and such.
