underwear

are you wearing underwear that goes under the bump or underwear that comes up and around the bump? I'm growing out of my 1 size up normal underwear that used to come about 3 inches below my belly button and they've been perfect...until now.

I bought some big ass granny panties and they are so uncomfortable for me. They are like...floppy and I have some low rise pairs left in my pre-pregnancy size and I'm debating getting them in bigger sizes but I feel strange free bumping (like free ballin) because the bump is hard but I'm plus size and there is still a bit of a layer of fat and the surrounding areas are definitely still fatty. I'm so used to that in between rise but that rise is going to hit the bump strange no matter what probably. Maybe I need that in a microfiber that would stretch like crazy?

I'm just wondering what everyone else is doing and wondering if I'm the only one struggling with this awkward problem

Re: underwear

  • I'm still wearing my regular panties but to be completely honest, I only ever wear undies if I'm wearing a skirt or jeans that are not very soft. Most of the time I'm going commando, especially during pregnancy.

  • I just bought new underwear in what I thought was the next size up, but they fit perfectly right now whereas I wanted a little room to grow. They're mesh, bikini style so they go under the bump-- not sure I'd ever be comfortable wearing any that goes around it. Even briefs feel weirdly high and uncomfortable on me though but I guess it depends on what you like. The options are endless and a little overwhelming!

  • I have been loving the maternity panties from H&M. They are under bump and are the most comfortable panties I've ever worn!!
  • I'm still just wearing my normal Hanky Pankies, and I did the whole way through my last pregnancy. They are super low and fit nicely under my bump. I never found maternity underwear I actually liked.

  • I buy boy short underwear from torrid and it's the most fantastic and comfortable thing to wear.
  • Free ballin (as you refer it) over here :)

Of course this is no different from pre pregnancy lol...
  • I still use my Victoria's Secret no-show hiphuggers. I have a bunch in my current size and a couple in the next size up but the bigger size is still a little big even though I have gained weight. Maybe they will be better in my 3rd tri.

  • I wear Hanes Hipsters and they're so comfy. They don't cover my bump. I wore them during my last pregnancy too. I might have to go up a size very soon though.

  • @mcklough I was seriously going to breakdown and buy some granny panties this weekend cause i'n so over my regular ones being uncomfortable lol

I don't know if I bought bad ones or something but they are not at all more comfortable. They were the jockey French cut ones and they literally go up to my boobs and seriously the best way I can describe them are "floppy". I highly DON'T recommend those...

  • Ok thanks for the warning
  • I typically wear a thong or g-string.  I have a big ka-donk-a-donk and regular underwear just rides up. They are cut pretty low so I haven't had to make any new purchases, and I'm hoping I can continue to wear my normal underwear throughout pregnancy under the belly.

  • I've always worn all my normal pre-pregnancy underwear during pregnancy.
  • I hear you all on the panty problems! My issue is not so much about the belly, but that my hips and butt have gotten bigger so I don't fit in my regular size and they all leave marks. I just threw away more than half of my underwear (I have a lot), and got some new ones - Victorias Secret seamless, Motherhood Active (these are awesome and SUPER comfy) and some hanky pankies. This might be TMI but I change my panties like 3 or 4 times a day because it's still so effing hot here and I'm feeling super sweaty these days. I seriously need it too cool down!

I put clean ones on in the morning after my shower and usually again when I get home from work for that same reason. It's supposed to be 93 here today. X(

I wear my relar bikibi style panties through pregnancy. I think they are Hanes. TMI- definitely not going to go commando with the current level of pregnancy discharge.
  • Regular Victoria's Secret underwear

Under the bump. If you're getting a c section I suggest tracking down over the bump ones for about 1-2 months after
  • I use Victoria secret no show but lately I've not been wearing any nothing is comfortable for me.... If im at home i wear a big shirt with no pants or undies.
  • I don't know how you ladies are going commando! With all the extra um, fluids pregnancy causes, underwear is a must for me to be comfortable. I'm wearing my regular undies. Things during the day and what I call whole panties at night. (Bikini, boy short, anything with fabric covering my butt!) all go under the belly.

  • I had bought new undies alittle after I found out I was pregnant. Needed some new ones anyway. I bought a size up to be safe... Well lets just say by big booty has gotten bigger, plus my growing tummy... I now need to go a size up, Again :( I try the bikini cut to where it is just below baby bump. I havent gained a lot of weight, just inches. I dont wanna be in parachutes at 37 weeks hehe

  • I bought a bunch of cheeky and "lace" things from VS in a size up. The lace thongs are soft and stretchy pretty much a one size fits all. Lace is my friend right now. NO ELASTIC!
  • What are hanky pankys? I have been wearing my pre-pregnancy undies, usually hipsters from VS, or just low cut briefs. When I get home though, I just let it all hang out.

It's a brand of (primarily) lacy undies. I wore only their thongs pre-pregnancy then tried the boy shorts when I got pregnant. I can't stand either currently because thongs are out for me right now and the boy shorts rolled up under my belly. I love them normally but now...not so much!
  • @pbtoast thanks! Thought it was some new lingo I just wasn't "cool enough" to understand

Yup, 85° here today with humidity blech, so i've been using powder and deodorant to keep dry and I know that stuff is not safe or something but its the only things that help keep me dry

    Hanky Pankys are the best!!

I'm wearing low rise thongs mostly and have some seamless ones that have been pretty comfy. If I wanted to I could go commando no problem, I don't think everyone has the same level of discharge.

  • I've been wearing girls boxer brief kinda deal. and I bought a size bigger so eventually there not too tight on the tummy!
  • I wear my regular undies, but I generally wear a maternity tank top under my shirt to cover the bump because the maternity pants make me look lumpy. Also my boobs are out of control, so I need a modesty panel anyway haha!

  • Victoria's Secret V-strings are my jam! Low and comfy. And I've got their yoga boy shorts and it's like I have nothing on when I wear them.
  • I got a ton of maternity panties from Destination Maternity. They were 5 for $25, so not really any more pricey than VS or anything else. They are so comfy and come in various sizes/colors/prints.
  • @pbtoast thanks! Thought it was some new lingo I just wasn't "cool enough" to understand

    Obviously you're not "cool enough."
    :))

    Was that bullying?

I rolled my eyes as I typed that she's not cool enough to know what Hanky Pankys are... but I'm a bully so that's how I roll.

  • Hanky Pankys are soooo comfy. The best thongs ever- and they last a really long time! I could not go commando, I don't like the feeling of it. Only time I ever have is when I was in Spain and ran out of clean undies!
