Exercise ball is great for hip pain. For SPD I've found that prevention is key since there isn't much to do about it once it hurts. No more standing on one leg (not even to put clothes on), don't do activities/stretches that require you to spread your legs far apart, when you're moving your body (in bed, getting out of the car, etc), keep your legs together.
I have this too, and my physical therapist gave me a hip support belt for walking that works wonders. It is specifically meant to help support the sacrum and all of that, but it works very well for SPD. It was described to me as basically pelvic spraining, so if you can take steps to support and be gentle, you can lessen the pain, but it isn't likely to go away entirely.
I had it really bad with my first. Getting out of bed was the worst thing ever. My pubic symphysis would pop and grind together. I just started feeling pain this time around so I need to dig out my hip brace thing. It only helped a little last time but I didn't know to wear it until it got bad.
I'm not sure if this is what I'm experiencing or not. . The best I can describe it is feeling like I'm sore between my legs like after riding a bike, and then it gets worse with sharp/shooting pain when I get up to walk or stand on one leg. Sound familiar to anyone?
I'm 20 weeks and just started getting discomfort/soreness on the right side of my pelvis in the front. Right along my underwear line. Any ideas? I have my scheduled appt with my ob gyn tomorrow morning and will ask her if it's still going on
@SDaniels19 : the same here!! It lasted for about a week... at the end I had difficulties to breath when I was standing up or in the stairs because of this sharp pain... now it's not gone but way better. I found online some advices - what hailees said - and it seems to help... I hope it gets better for you too!! :-)
I'm going through the same thing currently (20 weeks and 1 day). It started about a week ago but yesterday at the end of my work day it was so agonizing, when I got home I just relaxed on the couch and it wasn't. Only hurts when standing/walking after sitting for some time..it gets duller as I get moving..but those first few minutes are aweful! I'm going to the doc on Monday and will bring it up, hoping this doesn't last for the whole time! Hope everyone is feeling good!
I'm having awful left hip pain for the past week. Doctor recommended a support belt & it does help, but now I'm experiencing soreness throughout my pelvis. Lower belly has been achy too. I'm 27 weeks Friday. I'm not active at all & the doc didn't recommend walking, he said it could make it worse. Warm baths & the belt have been relieving some of the pain!!! Cmon January!!!
