For my baby shower I recieved a JJ Cole Bundle Me, and I was super excited. I thought it'd be perfect for winter time! My sister in law brought to my attention that the type I got wasn't a good choice because the entire thing goes over the car seat.
Has anyone ever used one or one like it? Thoughts?
I would also like to hear thoughts on this. ...I have waited to get anything because of hearing bad things. But I feel like I will need something for our cold MN winters....since coats can't be worn in the car seat. I feel like a sleeper with a blanket over baby won't cut it when the temps are below zero!
You want to get something that goes OVER the car seat and not under baby. JJ Cole makes one:
I would only use that under one if baby wasn't going in the car. Like if baby was going to be clipped into the stroller maybe. You can swaddle baby in a blanket once you get them strapped in then you can put the cover on. I live in New England and we got a cover because it can get pretty frigid here.

I've never opened it, so hopefully the store will let me take it back and exchange it
I had the lighter one for both my girls becasue they were born in spring and I have bought the fleece one for this baby. I love them and have never had an issue. A loose blanket is worrisome, but the bundle me does not have any extra fabric where baby can pull it up over his/her face
I have the fleece one that you posted a picture of and have used it for both of my older boys and already have it attached in the car seat for baby boy #3. We live in Ohio where the winters can be brutal too and this was such a great help keeping baby warm since buntings and coats are not allowed while they are strapped in. I had it checked out by a car seat specialist at our local children's hospital and it's totally ok to use!

Agreed! I had the other one and it was small for the car seat it seemed and not secure so we got this one that goes over the car seat instead! It's much better.
