I need any advice I can get. DD is still eating every 2.5-4 hours at night. I physically don't know how much longer I can do this. I have never been so consistently exhausted. She is 15 weeks today and have gone 5-7 hours at night about 5 times in the last two months. I EBF and those few times I had to pump anyways because I wa engorged and in pain since it was such a rare thing. Am I the only one whose LO is still waking up to eat this often? Does anyone have advice on what I can do to get her to go longer periods? I try to get her back to sleep without feeding her, but she wakes up after a few minutes if I don't feed her. Once I feed her she goes back to sleep for a couple hours. I feed her every 3-3.5 hours during the day. I only let her go 3.5 hours if she's sleeping.
Re: LO still not stretching out night feedings
EBF babies need to eat more often bc BM digests quicker. So they get hungry pretty often. I EBF and had many nights debating whether or not I should wake her. But her ped told me to let her sleep bc she is gaining plenty.
He's gaining plenty of weight and it's not a supply issue. I've tried bed sharing which doesn't stretch out his feeds, but it allows me to get more sleep. I'm back to working 12 hour long day shifts and have to be awake at 5am and not getting home til 8pm two days a week, so that's fun.
I think I've become used to only sleeping two hours at a time, but I'll take most any suggestion to get more sleep!
Cosleeping is the only reason I function so well. We have tried both cosleeping and LO sleeping in her bassinet or crib.
There is a difference between me waking up and me getting up. When we cosleep, I only wake up to nurse her. When she sleeps in her bassinet, I have to get up. Somehow, that second month when she slept in her bassinet every night -- I felt like I got half as much sleep as I would while cosleeping. So we are now back to cosleeping and I feel human again.
Best of luck to you.
