Pregnant after IF

Question for those with Bfp from iui

Hi ladies,

I'm new on this board from the ttc board. I am in my 2ww after iui and have a feeling I might be pregnant (not sure but anyway!)

I made a note of my cramping pattern since iui... here's a small list:

1-2 dpiui soreness in ovary containing my dominant follicle
3 dpiui : ovary pain continues, causing mild leg cramps
4-5 dpiui : feeling "fullness" in the middle, mild kidney pain that comes and goes. Drank lots of water to keep it in control. Tiredness.
6 dpiui : mild menstrual like cramps, general tiredness after doing little chores
7-8 dpiui : pressure in pelvis, mild menstrual like cramps

As of now, I am 12 dpiui and what prompted me to post this question here on this board is that today I am having mild spasm like pain in my right pelvic joint with a mild cramping towads the ovary area. I ovulated from my right side this cycle because that is where I got all my egg follicles. Its worrying me. I hope everything is fine if I may well have conceived.

Can you ladies tell me your experience in the 2ww that lead to a bfp? Would u think my cramping pattern sounds normal?

I will not test till I miss my period so till them I'm in the dark.

Thank you so much for your time.

It sounds like you might have a cyst. Did you take any medicines? I know you're likely to get cysts after cycles with injectables. I got pregnant after my first IUI. I had symptoms early on but had no idea it was because I was pregnant, I was sure it was the progesterone I was on. Are you on progesterone? The side effects of that are cramping, tiredness, moody, etc. so it could be that too. It's better not to symptom spot during the 2ww even though that's hard.

@AdorkablePixie thank for your response. My iui protocol was 100MG clomid + gonal f day 5 and 7 + Ovidrel + progesterone following iui procedure.
I'm not symptom spotting, just concerned nothing is alarming because of my previous two losses. Is having a cyst at this stage bad? Should I go see my doc or is having cysts common at this stage?

  • I think it's common. I'm pretty sure I had a cyst too. They'll usually go away on their own, no big deal. :) Do you plan to test in three days, since that's 15dpiui? I hope it's a bfp!

  • @AdorkablePixie to be honest I am very very nervous to test. I will try to hold out till next weekend if all goes well
  • Not the make the wait harder, but if you're 12dpiui, it'd probably be positive by now ;) I got my first real BFP at 10dpiui. I experienced that feeling of fullness 3 dpiui, and by days 5-6piui, I felt a lot of twinges on the right side (which is where my good follie was). The following day my acupuncturist was 60-70% sure I was pregnant, and it seems those twinges happened at around implantation time since 3-4 days later I had detectable levels of hcg in my urine.

Good luck to you! Hope those funny feelings are good news!
  • HI there. Just wanted to chime in that I as well had a lot of twinges during the tww. After the initial pain after ovulation on my ovary side with the matures follies, I had continuous menstrual cramp like pains with an occasional twinge. I only have the one iui cycle though considering my first was TI with meds. I waited to test the night before my Beta which was 13 dp iui when I got my bfp. I also was not on progesterone at all, and continued to have tiredness. I agree with @KidShrink you might want to try and test. Good luck!

  • Thanks for your input ladies.

I have an update... the pain seems to have shifted. I wouldn't say it's around my ovary now. I am hurting on lower right side close to where my uterus should be. Its a deep dull pain that comes and goes. Can it be implantation? I had two follies, one at 25mm and the other at 18mm when I was given the Ovidrel shot.

I'm so afraid to test yet!
  • ** may I add, it hurts a bit to walk. My pelvis feels so sore.
  • No one will know what the pain is from until you know if there's a baby in there or not. It's a little late for implantation at this point. Either it's happened already, or it won't happen. My RE schedules beta for 14dptrigger (which was 13dpiui for me).
  • I would test (actually I would've already tested, kudos to you for holding out).
With ovarian stimulation and such nice sized follies, it would be normal for your ovaries to be sore, especially if you are pregnant as they would still be working to support your pregnancy.
At my 7/8w ultrasound, my ovaries were still enlarged.

Two years, two losses and three IUIs...

    We are having TRIPLETS!

  • Thanks for your response ladies. The pain has quite subsided. It had me worried. I'm tempted to test today but still think I shoukd wait till my period date as my test says it's effective after 1st day of missed period.
  • I can't wait to hear if you get a BFP! Let us know when you do decide to test. :)

I tested today at 14 dp trigger, which was just something I randomly decided. It was not morning urine so I know I was being silly. Anyway I went on with it. I clearly saw a faint line.. I don't need to look hard for it , it was right there!! I had seen it at allotted time of 3 minutes. But within the next 2 minutes, it disappeared completely. What could it be? I don't think it was an evap line because I read it in time.

I will take another test in 2 days.
  • I'd take another test. If it were positive it should have stayed, I think. What brand was it?

  • Yeah that's strange. What kind of test are you using? Go buy FRER (First response Early results) ASAP and pee on that. It will tell you what you want to know. GL!

  • I called in my doc just to be sure and she asked me not to test before waiting a couple days more. I guess I'll test Friday although I am sooooo tempted to test tomorrow with fmu
  • I'd definitely use FMU this early on just to be safe. I'd also test before Friday since you did already but that's just me. I'd end up driving myself nuts.

  • I totally would have tested already. lol I say that, but when I was in the TWW after my IUI, I didn't test once. I waited until my beta.

  • Hi ladies..
I did an hpt and got beta done now. Both are negative. Trying not to feel down. Any help with motivation would be gladly accepted :(
  • Ugh...so sorry :( I was so hopeful for you! I think you're allowed a pity party, and then hopefully you're ready for your next step, whatever it is. But if you find it's all getting too much, just take a break to go back to 'normal' life for a bit. I did it after 3 medicated cycle, while waiting for my hysteroscopy/laparoscopy. I was offered to continue to try in the meantime, but I didn't want more disappointment when we knew that treatment just wasn't working for us (after 3 rounds). Sending you big hugs!
  • Oh no, I am sorry. :( Take as much time as you need to feel better. This process is very frustrating and exhausting, but you will get there!

  • Thank you ladies... to be honest I sort of crashed emotionally and was very unfair by being moody with my husband. I think I really do need a break after actively ttc for the last 24 months! I plan a couple of months break to just go with the flow, normalize my stress levels and see what comes out of this new positivity.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Means a lot!
