GTKY: Where are you thinking of delivering?

Re: GTKY: Where are you thinking of delivering?

  • I've had two hospital births with amazing, supportive teams. My few wishes were granted and I had two vaginal deliveries with the wonders of the epidural.

This is my plan for #3.

    Drugs are good. Mmkay?

  • I've had two hospital births at two different hospitals. DS2 was born here in NC and the hospital is amazing. It's smaller, but has a NICU and fabulous L&D nurses. We had to stay there over night when DS1 had his tonsils out because he was under 3. They were just as amazing then as they were when I was there for delivery. The rooms are all private and you labor, deliver, recover and stay in the same room.

They also listened to me when I said my epidural was no longer working and called the anithesiologis to give me more meds (not a second epi).

    Give me meds and Drs!

  • There aren't many birthing centers around, none close, so probably a hospital. I am going to go on some tours to find one that is okay with natural births and also won't take my baby out of my room (unless there is a medical emergency). Also one with an in-suite bath/whirlpool. I have narrowed it down to 2 or 3. I also need to look in to whether my insurance covers a midwife.

  • I'm pretty sure I'd prefer the hospital but am hoping they'll maybe let me use a birthing bar or ball or anything that will help open up my tiny pelvis.
You employ them, remember that. It is your body, your birth, no one "lets" you do anything. As long as you and baby are fine do what you want and need.
