Hi I was just wondering if anyone has had a ultrasound yet? I had one yesterday at 5 weeks and they couldn't see anything.

I had an ultrasound very early with my first pregnancy at 5 weeks, but they couldn't see anything until 8 weeks anyway. This time I'm having my 1st ultrasound at 8 weeks.

I'm having one monday since I've had some bleeding. They refused to do it any sooner than 6 weeks because they probably wouldn't be able to see anything. (I'll be 6+2 monday)

I'm having one at 5w5d only because i've been having some pressure towards the back LOL. It's driving me crazy, but I haven't had any bleeding.

I had no idea they would even do an ultrasound that early...any particular reason? When I went in for my confirmation test they said the next appt probably wouldn't be until 10-12 weeks where they would do an ultrasound.

My first one is scheduled in another week and a half. My OB does a first ultrasound between 7-8 weeks for all pregnancies.

I was there for other reasons besides pregnancy and my doctor decides to have a look with his ultrasound machine, he didn't see anything. He did warn me that it was early and he might not see anything. But I don't understand why he would do it then !cause now I'm all freaked out, thinking he should have saw something !

From what I've heard you can't see anything that early. Last time I had my first one at 8 weeks and I think it'll be the same this time.

I'm at a new OB this time...sadly no ultrasound until the 20 week unless I need it! She said since my periods are regular, they'll just look for a heartbeat with the doppler when I go to my first real appointment at 11 weeks. She may try and sneak in an ultrasound then if the heartbeat is tough to find, I'm hoping they do!

Had an ultrasound the other day at 5w6ds we saw an Itty bitty little pea! My Dr was also able to pick up the tiny heartbeat, he said it was less than a day old!

This is my third baby and the earliest I've seen a baby. Don't worry, I'm sure at your next appointment there will be a strong heartbeat and a tiny squish!

Last time I had my first at 8 weeks and we could see & hear the heart beat & baby. This time I had one at 5.2 & 5.6 because we thought I was further along than I am. The baby was still soo tiny you can't see much and it was too soon to see the heart beat. I will have another in a week. I think it's scarier to go so early.

My first appointment (and first ultrasound) will be at week 8 because ultrasounds before then are not really helpful. My doctor would prefer to wait until week 10 to do the ultrasound honestly but I'll be on a plane half way across the world by week 10 so she compromised.

I am 6w1d today and had an ultrasound this afternoon and saw a heartbeat. Ten days ago, we saw an empty sac. Less than a week before that, there was nothing but thickened endometrium. Try not to stress, but I know it's hard. I don't understand why docs insist on doing u/s this early, it does nothing but cause stress. This early, just one day makes a huge difference in development.

Yes I had one on Monday where they estimated 5 weeks and then I met with the Dr. today and had had another one which I was not expecting. Both times they needed to go intra vaginally to see anything... If they tried external it is uncommon to see anything at all so don't worry (we tried on me today and nothing). But just a few days difference and I was able to see the heartbeat fluttering. Stay postive!

I am having an ultra sound on Thursday. I will be 6weeks and 5 days. I had an iui and I think my doctor just wants to ensure that my baby is in the right place. After that I switch to my regular on and have an u/s scheduled for November 5. At that point I will be 9 weeks and 5 days.

I had my first ultrasound last Wednesday at 6w 3d. We saw a perfectly beating heart. I live in Germany and was told that I'd have an ultrasound at EVERY appointment. I had my other two kids in the states and wasn't seen until 8 weeks and didn't have an ultrasound until around 12 weeks.

Hi, all!

I'm 6 weeks 1 day today -- and it also happens to be my 6-year wedding anniversary!

First ultrasound earlier this week (at 5w 4d) and just saw the yolk sac within the gestational sac.

Second ultrasound in 3 days and was told at that point I might be able to see an embryo and a heartbeat. I hope so!

Last pregnancy, I had one at 6 weeks, only because it was based on LMP. There was no heartbeat yet, so that was pretty nerve wracking for a couple weeks. This time, I'm again scheduled for 8 weeks after LMP, but I'll only be 7w4d according to when I O'ed.

For people that aren't getting an us until 20 weeks, doesn't your doctor offer the NT Scan near 12 weeks?

We had our first yesterday. It measured 6w1d vs my calc of 7w. We could see a perfectly beating heart win no problems and one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced! I can't wait for more!!!!

I absolutely giggle when anyone calls their baby a "squish". It's too cute and reminds me of Finding Nemo. I've just been calling mine "Baby (insert fruit here)" for whichever fruit or veggie the Bump says the size is. But I love "Squish".

I have my first appointment on 10/15 which is 6w+5 for me. I'm hoping to get to see my "squish" then. I didn't have a confirmation appointment.

I had one about a week ago and according to measurements was only about 5w2d (it was a dating and viability scan) which is bang on enough when I think I ovulated. My doctor still called me and told me he was concerned it may not be a viable pregnancy because I wasn't measuring as far along as they felt I should have been? Not sure where they thought I should be since I had no last period to go by which was the reason for the scan *shrug* I think he's crazy and I'm not worried because that early we only saw a yolk sack and no fetal pole yet and I wasn't expecting to see a heartbeat either because I knew it was too early and everything is where it should be according to my calculations. :P

Mine is Tuesday which is exactly "6 weeks'' but she calculated the day to do the ultrasound off the day we did my IUI and thats the day she wanted to do it so we will see if anything comes up! Hopefully we will see something!

For those of you without any pre-existing reasons to need one, how did you get the DR to give you an apt before 8 weeks? I called mine today and they said nothing until 8 weeks. Should I have asked for blood test confirmation or something?

@BVBabyHopeful i had a little bit of spotting so I got an early u/s at 6w1d today as a precaution, but it was very scary for me. During my last pregnancy I went in at 8w appt which was 7w5d for my first u/s. I know it feels like forever but early u/s can be very nerve wrecking too-at 8 weeks you can definitely see and hear the heartbeat! If you want to confirm, ask the doc to do a blood test-to triple check!

I think it just depends on your doctor and how competitive your market is. I think my OB tries to get you in quickly so you don't make an appointment with another doctor. I had an US around 6 weeks last time and had to go back a week later because they couldn't see anything. Not to sound cheap but I have an HSA account so it was basically $100 down the drain and a lot of unnecessary worry about if the baby was going to stick. I called to make an appointment today and pretended I was busy all week to make sure I don't go in too early again.

@BVBabyHopeful I think it is just how my OB operates. I had a different OB with DD, and while I went in for my first appointment with her probably around 4 weeks, the didn't do an ultrasound for a few more weeks. This pregnancy, I've had 3 ultrasounds already, which was scary when it was too early to see anything. She's also a fertility and high risk doc, so I think it is just how she operates. I'm also in a smaller town with a decent amount of OB's to pick from, so it isn't difficult to get an appointment.

I'm going tomorrow for my first visit. By my LMP I'll be 5w 6d. No clue if they will even attempt an ultrasound that early. We'll see!

I am 5w6d and I went to my ob today. He decided to take a look and we saw a little peanut and even herd the heartbeat! My husband and I were so excited! This is our first, I can't believe we are having a baby!!
