End of October due dates...how are you holding up?

Re: End of October due dates...how are you holding up?

  • I'm a FTM and due on the 26th. My last day of work was the 9th and I'm SO happy to have a couple weeks off to relax. It's been getting harder and harder to sit all day and work. My hips were widening last week and sitting for any period of time was simply out of the question. Plus, I was having full-on false labor at the same time. Enough regular contractions that the doctor said it could have been real and to watch. They went away, after a day or so, so I think the stress was finally getting to me.
The baby hasn't seemed to try to lighten at all, but I'm kind hoping he'll be late rather than early so he has more quality time in the womb.

  • I'm due 10/24.  Still working full time, and plan to work until I can't.  We'll see how I do, but I'm honestly feeling pretty good for now.  I'm having mild and infrequent BHs.  I get lightning crotch and hip/pelvis/back pain a couple times a day, but instead of focusing on how much it hurts (which is what I did with DD) I keep thinking about how each pain is getting my body and baby more and more ready for labor and delivery. Hooray!

My midwives don't do cervical checks, so I have no idea how dilated/effaced I am.  But I will be shocked if this LO makes an early appearance.  I'm counting on the 10/27 Full moon to do it's magic. :)
  • Due 10/25. In a word: FML. ;) I'm soooo swollen and I'm just over it. :(
  • I'm due oct 30th I hope she's early I'm so done being prego. Hips/back hurts. Feet so swollen. Having a hard time playing trucks with my first born. Mostly I just want her to come early so I can take my little man out trick or treating lol. Cannot wait for the Dr to say ok and push...
  • I think going to work every single day is just annoying for me at this point in time ughhhhhhhh so ready for maternity leave!!!
  • Due date is 10/26. Still working as an elementary PE teacher so getting a lot of exercise. She's sitting low and head down. Having a hard time sleeping though because of the heartburn and indigestion along with little ones bum and feet up under my ribs. Oh and did I mention those darn Braxton Hicks contractions (ouch).. We are excited to meet her but she's gotta wait another week at least so I can finish up work until December.!
  • I'm due 10/31 and still working- teaching Kindergarten! It's getting harder and harder to get around with my class- we spend a lot of time on the floor! I plan on working until I go into labor- and my kids are trained on what to do if I need them to! Doctor today said I am at 2 cm already, which is nice because I wasn't dilated at all with my first- even at 40 weeks! Seein the light at the end of the tunnel!!!
  • I teach Kinder so I feel your pain on getting plans ready for maternity leave! Best wishes to you!
  • Due October 24. Everything essential is done...I think. There are still several things I could do before baby comes but it is hard to choose which thing to tackle, and then to find enough mental and physical energy to do it completely or at least make a good dent in it.

Physically I thank God I am still managing well. I get up 1-2 times a night to pee or because I am hungry. I think I still occasionally sleep completely through. Heartburn comes and goes. Swelling ankles and feet but they go almost away during the night.

Right now I feel like life is a waiting game. Trying not to be too focused on labor starting. I plan to refuse cervical checks before 40 weeks. No point in getting excited or discouraged via that information, in my mind.
  • Due 10/30 and overall feel fairly good. I may be stopping my 4:30am workouts pretty soon because once I get to work I'm a zombie. I'm so torn because I am ready to get this baby out but I still have things I need/want to do! I havnt even packed my hospital bag yet so I'm just stuck in the middle. I plan to work until about a week or so before my due date ( maybe even up until the date if my manager let's me work that week from home) I want to stay as busy as possible or I will seriously go bat shit crazy. I am obsessed with all these birth annouments- as a FTM I am so anxious to see how I feel and the love that all the women are describing... Just so beautiful! Life is good ya'll- we got this.
  • @Leabyrd, I'm still up at 4, too, for my workouts! This is my second time through this and the workouts keep me sane. I'm 38 weeks today and I'm going to push through 'til the end because I know how much better I feel with my weeks off after baby if I know I earned 'em ;) haha! I'm excited for you!

  • @sballerina, it sounds like everything is going well for you -- hooray! At 38 weeks, I'm mentally in a better place than I was a week ago, so I'm on board with letting it happen when it happens, too. I like your attitude :) I hope everything stays on the up and up for you!

  • To all you teachers -- nice work! I teach K-12 half of the day and at the high school half of the day, and being on my feet definitely proves challenging by the end of the day. My students are getting a little nervous about what they are going to do if I go into labor at school, but I assure them I have a plan! I hope you all continue to manage well during the school day :)

  • I am due on the 29th and so ready to have him anytime. I feel so fat and gross, nothing fits anymore, hands and feet are swollen and arthritic, turning over or getting up kills every time and I really just want to have my little boy here. I have been off work since mid September, thank god! There is no way I would want to be working feeling like this. I am ready for bed again after breakfast and anything really puts me to sleep. Oh the joys of pregnancy, but all worth it in the end <3

Due on the 31st ... Feeling tired a lot ... Can't wait for a long period of time and of course sleeping is almost impossible with how heavy she is and she's resting on my rib cage I constantly have to toss and turn to get comfortable... Discomfort in my pelvis.. The back pain ... Period like cramps almost every day and a new symptom, a sharp pain around the outside of the sac well at least that's what it feels like... She's engaged so plenty of kicks to the rib ... Don't really wanna go anywhere but want to eat absolutely everything lol ... At this point I can't wait to meet my little pumpkin for the first time it literally can't come any sooner
  • I'm also a teacher.  My long term sub fell through too.  At this point I told them I will work an extra week past my due date if I don't go on time to give them more time to find someone (and to not burn sick days for no reason), but it is so hard to be on my feet all day.  I teach HS math, and my students are really nervous about me leaving.  They think my leave is too long too.  I feel bad, but it's time for me to have and take care of my own child :-)

I agree with PP too because half of me wants to finish up all the million things I have to do.  At this point I have no sub and it would be a mess for me to leave.  We also have a lot going on with my husband's business and my help is needed.  On the other hand, I am SO done being pregnant and want to have the baby right now.

  • Due 10/21 and as of my 38 week appointment last thursday, I am about 2cm dilated. I hvaen't had any contractions, only a few BH. I'm in so much pain though....especially changing positions from laying down to sitting up...to standing, etc. Just want to meet her already!
  • @LiveNLove44 go girl!!!!! I'm hoping the pregnancy weight just MELTS off because of all the work we put in ;)
  • I'm a FTM and due 10/31. Kind of like a lot of PP's, I'm anxious to see him, yet still so much to do! My last day of work (EVER...well kind of. I"m teaching a night course 1x/wk in January) is 10/20, so I'm super jazzed about that. I'd like it if he came early, but not before my time off with just me!!
  • STM due 10/27. Working full-time, trying to get all of the loose ends tied up before I leave. Chasing a toddler around is the most exercise I get these days, but it's more than plenty. Back hurts, constipation & hemorrhoids suck, sciatica has been pretty bad, and I'm perpetually uncomfortable, but all in all it has been a problem-free pregnancy, and for that I'm very thankful. Overriding theme is just exhausted and ready, but I'm plenty busy and the days go by fast. I have several BH a day, and a little bit of cramping here and there, but nothing too exciting. Planning a med-free VBAC; doc will let me go to 41w before inducing, but I only plan to work to my due date. DS was defiantly breech so I had a CS, but DD has been head down since 29 weeks, so we're a go for the VBAC when the time comes. Fingers crossed!!!
  • I am losing it! I'm due the 24th and my doctor just said she won't do anything until the 28th, which is two days longer then she said before. I have GD and don't want to put the baby at risk because she likes Wednesdays:( She says we are health so there are no additional issues but we haven't done any scans other than NST (which the baby doesn't cooperate 90% of the time, she sleepy or not enough to accelerations) to confirm our "healthy" status. I think I am going to request a biophysical exam if she is going to makes me go past 40.
  • Due 10/30 and still feeling pretty good overall. Not sleeping very well lately but no real complaints otherwise. I really don't think this baby is coming early so I'm trying to prepare myself to go past due. Working full time until he comes, so trying to hand off projects at work. And still have lots of little house projects to keep me busy after work... trying to do some freezer meals, last minute decorating/decluttering/cleaning...

Im due 10/25 and im getting antsy now because I was supposed to be induced at 39 weeks but for medical reasons my doctors taken it off the table. My son has dropped so I have incredible pelvic pain. And on top of him pressing on my back ive got pain from being rear ended so my back hurts so damn bad. Ive been having contractions but theyre not helping dilate me. Still working and planning to continue til I deliver. Ive been eating pineapple and walking and everything but no dice. But my colostrum started flowing last night so im hoping its a sign my body's almost ready.

Due the 28th. At my 36th week apt was 3cm 75% effaced. So ready to meet my little girl. 38 week apt tomorrow.
  • Not holding up too well at all, haha. I mean, from the outsider perspective I'm doing just great, no one outside my family (and strangers on the internet here at the Bump, lol) have even an inkling that I'm anything but maybe a little tired, but in all honesty I feel like I'm totally losing it. I'm 38 weeks and have been at 2 cm and 80% with head engaged for about 2 weeks now. I've been "working" but then feeling guilty and like a total failure since I feel like I'm not getting anything done and will probably even use vacation time to get me through the week before my leave. I'm also super stressed that baby will come before we're ready. My dad is flying out on the 23rd, I'm due the 26th, and he'll be absolutely devastated if he doesn't get to be here since he hasn't been able to be a part of this entire process which has been so difficult for him. I mean, technically we have everything ready, but I want to do a final clean, re-arrange the bedroom to fit the bassinet better, vacuum out my car (I'm OCD about that and it just stresses me out). Anyways, just a mess. Wow, that was more venting than I anticipated. Woops!

@joyfulsimplicity : Oooh ouch, car accident plus late pregnancy discomfort! How many weeks ago did you get rear-ended? Not sure if you have tried it before, but it may be worth seeing a chiropractor who has experience adjusting pregnant women (ask around for recommendations or go to someone who has won "best" in a community survey). Undergoing a car accident is very stressful on the body on its own, and so also is pregnancy. It's a possibility that the accident has left you misaligned in a way that is worsening the pregnancy discomfort. Getting realigned may greatly improve the chances of baby coming more easily. I've gone consistently, mostly every two weeks and now going once a week for the last several. It REALLY helps my back and hip pain.

    @LiveNLove44 : thanks!
  • @joyfulsimplicity I agree with PP!! Get thee to a chiropractor if you haven't seen one already. Makes a world of difference! ❤️
  • Due on next Wed the 21st...no dilation yet. Mostly just a few inconsistent contractions, a mixture of constipation some days and diarrhea others .... No swelling but recent lower back pain..especially at night...and absolutely no sleep which leaves me tired all the time.. Also lots of heartburn and acid reflux (right now as I speak!) We'll see what this week brings!
  • I'm due on fri the 16th! My OB doesn't want me to go past 41 weeks, so if I haven't gone into labor by my appointment today ( in 3.5 hrs) I am supposed to pick an induction date! I am getting really anxious about the decision. I had felt like he would be a late arrival and I was fine with waiting, but OB is concerned due to my gestational diabetes- even though it's been well controlled. Now I just don't know what day to pick. DH is in school 4 days per week so it would be easier on him if I chose a date at the end of the week, but now hearing that sooner is better.....and concerns about size....I kinda want to do it right away! Then again a few more days work/pay and one more weekend sounds good too. Ugh! I'm a mess right now! How do people decide this?!?!?!
  • I am due October 30th with dd and I am feeling somewhat miserable. I had to go to L and D yesterday due to high BP and protein in my urine. They kept me a couple hours to test for preeclampsia luckily it was fine and I was able to go home. My whole body hurts and I'm ready to meet my baby!!! Come on due date!!!
  • Due 10/28 here and holding up ok. I got my major projects finished so work is low key. I'm anxious for labor to start (basically nothing is happening) but also aware of how much sleep deprivation is coming and how much harder it is to have two kids. So I'm trying hard to carve out alone time and date nights and socializing to enjoy these last few days/weeks.
  • Going in for induction on Monday! Original due date was the 27th. I would rather go naturally but I'm also tired of being pregnant and ready to meet this little guy!
  • Ftm due oct 27- we are very excited to meet our baby girl! I am working from home until the end of the week and then plan on just being until she arrives.

For the moms who are 38+ weeks and planning on working until labor starts: are people amazed at that plan? People in different departnents than mine at work ask me when I'm due. There seems to be surprise at the fact I am still working (38 weeks and 4 days as of today) and that I plan to work until labor starts. I just respond that in my mind my job is not demanding (I'm an administrative assistant) or very physical and I would be likely bored at home; better to keep my mind busy.

I've had a few people that were surprised I am working until I go into labor, not too many though. I want all my time off with my baby, not waiting for her. I have been lucky and have not had a complicated pregnancy so I can work until she comes.
  • @Sballerina I teach at a high school and it is very common. You spend your sick days either way so most people would like to spend them with baby. Plus, even though I hurt I would lose my mind being home all day. People outside of my work seem shocked I'm working until the end though.

  • @Sballerina Monday is my last day at 38+4 and people are amazed I am doing that. I often get comments asking how I do it and people thinking I'm crazy. Don't get me wrong I'm down right exhausted but I am not returning and want to make as much money before I leave as I can
  • Anyone else feel like their baby is a tease? Lol. I've got 2 weeks left so I'm not trying to rush things, but BH contractions have been as much as 5-1-1. Then last night I had the "bloody show." I've heard labor usually starts quickly after that, but I'm afraid it's another tease. I feel like it's hard enough at the end without having so much false hope all the time. Anyone else feeling this way?

I am 40w 1d and still sitting at my office "working"!  when people find out I was due yesterday they kind of freak out a little bit.  I also have a desk job so it's not physically demanding and like you I would be too bored at home!  Whenever people comment I ask them where else I should be!

I work with a lot of men and I think they are just a little freaked out that my water might break while I am at work. Ha ha for the most part I don't think it really phases them. Most have kiddos anyway so they get it. Ha ha
