Re: TWW post (week of 10/5 - 10/11)

  • @KLake42 fingers crossed for you!! And how on earth did you break your addiction to peeing on sticks???? I need to know since I'm a real addict...

  • @jilligan14 - honestly, it's because I feel like I'm on the verge of really getting depressed.  And I don't want to deal with antidepressants right now, so I have to step in and put on my big girl panties, and do ALL THE THINGS to help manage my mood better.  Healthy food, exercise, sunlight, and limiting the number of negative pregnancy tests I expose myself to in a week.

I think lots of people can handle peeing on sticks every day.  I'm just apparently not one of them.
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

  • Oh, gosh! I can't handle the peeing on sticks either. I'd rather not know than see a negative. I have only peed on two sticks thus far--one when I was actually pregnant with LO and another when I was about a week late (BFN). Anyway. It makes sense in my world too to just wait it out if you can! The emotion of peeing on a stick is just so huge!
  • Fx for you @KLake42!! And have fun with the confetti cannon!!
    Me (42) w/ partner for 16+ years
    TTC #1: 11/2012 - 9/2013; 6/2014 - present
Follistim + TI (3x): All BFNs
    Follistim + IUI (1x): BFN
    IVF #1: 17 retrieved,15 fertilized, Day 3: 15, Day 5/6: 3 biopsied
Result; 1 frozen blast (inconclusive PGS results)
    IVF #2; ER: 6/22 16 retrieved, 6/25: 5 transferred (CP), 2 frozen
    FET 9/17: BFN
    Current FET -- Transferred 2 day-3 embryos - BFN

  • The chemical pregnancy cured me of peeing on sticks (not that I've needed to since then).  I hate BFN's and I hate BFP's that turn into BFN's.  I'll wait for AF from now on.
    TTC#1 since Jan 2015
    BFP 2/19/15  •  MMC found at 9 wks  •  D&E at 11 wks (age 36)
    BFP 8/29/15
      •  CP (age 37)
    BFP 11/18/15  •  DD born at 41 weeks <3(age 37/38)

    TTC#2 since May 2017
BFP 10/18/17  •  MMC found at 8 wks  •  Misoprostal at 10.5 wks (age 39)

    BFP 2/16/18
      •  CP (age 39)
    BFP 4/13/18
      •  CP (age 39)
    BFP 5/07/18  •  MMC found at 10.5 wks  •  D&E at 11.5 wks
    •  Testing showed it was a girl with Trisomy 22. (age 39/40)
9/5/18 Diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve (4-5 follicles, one ovary had none and was very atrophied)

RE says the low egg count is likely causing my recurrent pregnancy loss. Less eggs results in more aneuploidy.

    BFP 9/24/18  •
    CP (age 40)
    BFP 5/11/19  •  Fraternal twins  •  MMC found at 10w5d (Baby A 6w, Baby B 10w)  •  Misoprostal at 11 weeks (age 41)

  • @Whiggrrl65 Oh, I'm so sorry. I wish there were something I could say to make it better -- does it help to just hear that sucks and I'm sorry?

  • Another BFN for me.  I kind of expected it.

My hope now is to talk to my RE about IVF, and get the gears turning to do IVF before the end of the year.  Given what I've paid on medical expenses so far, I've hit the threshold for the rest of the expenses to be deductible, so I get a much bigger refund if IVF happens in December rather than January.  If we can time things to do one more IUI before that, then fine, we will.

I think I'm doing okay with the idea of IVF, since the thing that seems to worry me the most is undergoing a procedure with a full bladder.  (I mean really, they want me to open my legs and accept a speculum when I really hafta pee?  Who thought that was a good idea?)  (Apparently, it helps them visualize things better.)

  • @KLake42 - so sorry to hear that you're out for this cycle. But it sounds like you got a plan almost in place. Good luck with the next IUI or IVF, whichever it shall be.

  • Was supposed to have my beta this am for the official BFN but had to put it off due to a work commitment that had me completely tied up and couldnt get to RE to have blood work today.

Going tomorrow am and then RE always calls with the bad news at lunch time and then we discuss game plan for moving forward. I'm so worried I have a cyst that will cause me to pause everything.

@Whiggrrl65 I'm sorry you got BFN.  I think I'm in the same boat. I'm 12dpiui and received a bfn, I'm also 37 so to be 38 and not sure how much more disappointment I can take. I've been TTC since I was 23 with only a few years were I stopped trying.  It's so hard when you see everyone around you prego and they try to be supportive and say, "well its your turn next", and it doesn't happen...I'm so disappointed and brokenhearted!
