Cautiously expecting my IUD Baby...anyone else?

Hello all, Just a warning-this post may be considered a trigger for some...
Today after calculating my last visit from AF, I realized it had been a while. Just to humor myself and stop the wondering thoughts I took a couple pregnancy tests both which resulted in BFPs. Because I still have Paragard I called my doctor immediately and got in for labs and an US. The US confirmed both that I was pregnant and that my IUD was perfectly intact and in the correct position. Fortunately the amniotic sac was safely nestled in the uterus, not in my tubes, which is a concern for IUD pregnancies. My doctor removed the IUD quickly and so far (fingers crossed) not spotting at all. The only concern is that there wasn't a detectable heartbeat on the US. I am estimated at 4-5 weeks so I am hoping I am just too early along to detect it. I go back to retest levels on Friday and praying they show an increase. Two weeks from tomorrow I go back for another US which feels oh so far away. Anyone else expecting IUD babies or have in the past?

I don't have personal experience but wishing you a sticky baby! My SIL was an IUD baby and that happened back in 1977! As for the heartbeat it usually doesn't show up until at least 6 weeks so you probably wouldn't have seen one. Try not to stress too much over the next 2 weeks!

Thanks for the reassurance! I thought I remembered from my three previous pregnancies with my DDs that the heartbeat didn't show up until at least 6 weeks but the way my doctor worded things, it seemed like maybe I should be concerned. I am sure she just wants me to be cautious and aware of the risk from having an IUD in. I am hoping that I will get to breath a little sigh of relief on Friday after my levels are tested and hopefully show an increase in hCG.

I didn't see my DS heartbeat at 6 weeks, but then it was there at 8 weeks. GL to you!

Congratulations! I don't have any experience with IUD babies, but DS2 was conceived a few weeks after mine was removed, and I had no problems. Good luck at your next u/s! I'll be thinking of you!

I just made a post a few hours ago about my iud story. Mine obviously expelled unnoticed at some point! I went through all the same stuff on Friday and they couldn't find it anywhere. SURPRISE!

I can't relate with the fear of having to have the paragard removed and the increased risk of miscarriage... But until they did the ultrasound and couldn't find it I certainly experienced some anxiety.

Fingers crossed that everything goes well for you and baby.

I have no IUD experience, but we didn't see a heartbeat until my third ultrasound at 6w1d. Before that was nothing (4w) and an empty sac (5w). Good luck to you!! I'm sure you'll see that heartbeat next time!

My dr doesn't even check for heartbeat until at least 6 weeks. They were surprised to find one today at 6+3. Good luck and keep up informed!

Thank you all so much for the encouragement ladies! I have 3 DDs already and I was pretty certain we didn't see anything until the 6-8 week time frame with them, but the doctor seemed worried that things were not progressing correctly because there was no visible heartbeat yet, just the sac. I am sure she just wants me to be aware of the risks due to my unique situation with the IUD. Hopefully I will have a happy post on Friday about my levels increasing! You all truly have helped me feel so much more reassured!
