Re: TTTC Checkin - 10/12/2015

  • I WILL call this week and make our RE appt to discuss reciprocal ivf! I want to get this show on the road!

I have been letting this fertility business get in the way of my schooling (I went back to college online to get my teaching degree). I am back on track and will focus on this while waiting on Dr appts. I want to have this career to 1-show our future kids to never give up on dreams and 2- to have summers and weekends off!! :)

My wife loves parmesean crusted chicken. We haven't had it in FOREVER! I got sick of it bc we were having it all the time. And it is a little more effort than I have wanted to put forth lately. I haven't been in the mood to cook anything in months, but I think I will make it in the next two weeks thanks to the inspiration!!

RE DX for me: Anovulatory cycles/Mild PCOS  RE DX for DW: Endometrioma on left Ovary.
Reciprocal Ivf Feb 2016. DW eggs and I am carrying. EDD: 10/27/16

@GoldenKeys Thank you! I look forward to see the progress of your new home and more.

I wanted to add that it was my second IUI. Maybe my stats and DX will help others ease their minds. I have low follicle counts, less than half what a 34yr old should have. This cycle we did
    Clomid (100mg) cd3-cd7
    Novarel (10,000 units)
    IUI (18hrs after trigger)

I hope others out there continue to not lose hope. I tried to tell myself each cycle that our baby just wasn't ready yet, that and our parents in heaven were spoiling them rotten.

I know each of you will get the BFP and I can't wait to keep up with you all. Not many can understand what our board goes through. Baby Dust to all.

QOTW: his late mother's pasta. We made it two days after the IUI.

    Married 3 years TTC 15+months
    OB dx: Low follicle count
OB treatment: Clomid 100mg + Novarel 10,000 units + IUI

Proud mommy of 2 furbabies Julius (beautiful domestic short-hair) and Brutus (the boxer)

~Make yourself necessary to somebody.  Do not make life hard to any.~
  • My records FINALLY showed up at the RE office (more than three weeks after I requested them be sent) so now everything is set. I just wait. T-30 days!

    **previous loss mentioned**

DH loves chicken Alfredo - in particular Cajun chicken pasta from red lobster. This past Labor Day would have been our EDD from our first loss and we spent the day together doing things we love to get out of the house, and we had red lobster for lunch.

    **End mention**

I had my first appointment since beginning my second round of injects. I've taken 4 days at 75iu Gonal-F and am currently waiting to find out about dose 5. I had 1 follicle at 14 and 3 at 11 on my right. I can't remember anything about my left, so I'm guessing that means nothing was 11 and up. This is SO different than last time when I was super worried my cycle would be canceled. My nurse said everything is looking good, so I'm trusting I'm on a good track now. I guess I'm just a little concerned about the impact of going straight from BC pills (for prior cysts) to injects (I technically had 2 days off between the 2) and whether my largest follicle is really one of the cysts growing again due to the injects. At my "baseline" when they checked to see if the cysts were gone, my largest follie was 10.5, so I'm assuming that is my current 14. Also, I just finished my withdrawal bleed this morning (at least I hope that was the last of it!), so my lining is on the thinner sode, about 5.3. I'm sure it's dumb to be worried about this stuff as my RE has probably done the BC to injects after cyst(s) multiple times, but I still am a little!!

I hope everyone has been doing well!

Edited: I always forget to answer the QOTW! My DH's favorite meal is chicken and dumplings. I last made it about 2 weeks ago when we had cooler weather, which is basically highs in the upper 70s where I live! I'm just waiting for it to cool down again, and I will make a large pot for him again!! It's quickly becoming one of my favorites too!

I have done injects after BCP and had the same worries. I remember my RE telling me that it's actually the best time to start injects, because your hormones are "calmer", whatever that means. Some RE's do it for better quality eggs in older women too. I'm really hoping that this is your cycle, @riveridgional!

  • @CopperLane congratulations!!!! I'm so happy everything worked out for you with all of DHs traveling! I know it's hard to not be nervous with your family's MC history but take it one day at at time. Until you're told otherwise you are pregnant right now. Enjoy each day as it comes.

Take my last dose of Femara tomorrow and have a follicle scan 10/19 to see when my IUI will be.

DH favorite meal is steak and baked potato.  We haven't had it since our anniversary.

    Congrats @CopperLane
  • Thank you guys! No beta yet. My husbands job moved us to a new city and all I have is my RE. I'm going to call and see if they can do a beta or recommend someone. I don't have the benefit of having friend/family recommendations for OBGYN or GP since we don't know too many people here yet. I will keep you posted when I go in.

@GoldenKeys sorry it's been 19 months, not 15 years. Though at times it felt like it was ages long.
  • @CopperLane I believe your RE is the proper person to do the beta test even if you got your BFP on an unmonitored round. I'm so excited for you!

Hi everyone, a little about me:

How long have you been TTC? 3 years in November. He is 36 and I am 32.

What is your diagnosis? My husband has a minor vercosis, which is thought to cause the low sperm morphology numbrs we have seen. I have a had high prolactin levels, just this cycle my RE put me on meds to lower it. By my post IUI blood work it had dropped into normal levels.

    3. What is your current treatment plan? We are currently in the 2ww after 2nd IUI. Clomid CD3-7, ovidrel trigger, progesterone supps 2x daily starting 1dpiui, 1/2 of the prolactin reducer (forgot name) twice weekly.

We hpt on wednesday, which will be 14 dpiui.

Question of the Week: What is your DH or SO's favorite meal? When last have they eaten it? Meat loaf and brussel sprouts. I wont lie, my recipe is awesome. We last had it a month or two ago, it is not really a summer food.
Married May 2009, TTC since November 2012 (Together since 2006 ish - had my eyes on him since 2001)
Me: 32 (33 in May), Him: 37 (January)

DX: Me: High Prolactin, Possible Autoimmune Disease Issues, though RE not concerned (?)  New RE has a plan!!
Him: Minor Varicocele, low morphology, slightly low count

    History:

    Beta 5/9/2016 BFP!!
Embryo transfer scheduled for April 28, 2016 and beta test May 9, 2016 (day after Mother's Day!)
Transfer Meds include: Lupron Depot (4/1), Minivelle Patch (every 3rd day), Estradiol (3x daily), Amoxicillin, Progesterone in Oil, Methylprednisonlone. Lovenox and baby asprin added after transfer.

3/22/16 - Sono Saline ultrasound cyst to be aspirated on 4/1/16 if not cleared up by 3/29 US - It cleared on its own
    Retrieval 3/4/16 - 26 eggs retrieved, 23 mature, 20 fertilized, 14 embryos currently frozen
Starting IVF Stims on +/- Feb 22, 2016
HSG scheduled for 1-26-16 - All clear "beautiful uterus" (though inverted)

Switched clinics and now prepping for IVF in February / March

    Fourth IUI -  CD3-7 100 Clomid w/ Ovidrel Trigger - December, 2015 - BFN
    Third IUI -  CD3-7 100 Clomid w/ Ovidrel Trigger - November, 2015 - BFN
    Second IUI - CD3-7 100 Clomid w/ Ovidrel Trigger - September, 2015 - BFN
Started Prolactin Medication October 15 - Levels quickly regulated to with in normal range
    First IUI - CD3-7 100 Clomid w/ Ovidrel Trigger - August, 2015 - BFN
After no BFPs (ever) First RE/Urologist visit in Feb 2015
    HSG w/ OB, 2014 = all clear
Trying to conceive since November 2012
  • I have been TTC for two years. The first year was NTNP with rough estimations on fertile window etc.
Second year was active ttc using OPKS and apps.
    Still no joy.

I think that my BC is still interfering with my cycles as they have been as short as ten days and as long as 38 days.

I have yet to receive a diagnosis as because I'm only 22 my doctor is refusing to take me seriously.

I am planning to use OPKS again and try temping as it will at least indicate ovulation.

@Praying4ayear It sounds like it is time to see an RE. You are beyond eligible for a referral! Ask your OB for one. An RE will be able to get your cycles back on track and figure out (or already know) what is going on. Just because you are 22 does not mean your cycle problems should be taken lightly!

I understand (sort of). We are a lesbian couple and could never seem to get help. I was having 80+ day cycles and no one considered it infertility. We were just any lesbian couple wanting a baby so Noone wanted to find out WHY I want ovulating. I finally found a RE that sees we have an issue. Keep your head up, I have been where you are knowing you need help but unable to get it. :)

  • @Praying4ayear you can get a referral from either a GP or OBGYN. I totally get your frustration. It took years to get diagnosed with PCOS because I'm skinny. Most doctors/Gyn said my cycles were off due to my weight and my pains were likely STDs. No STDs, I've had more STD tests than I'd like to admit just because my doctors would only test me for that (even after being married to a man I'd been with for four years)!!! I finally found an OBGYN who focused on IF and was diagnosed right away. 22 is not too young at all to have a child, there are doctors out there who will take you seriously, I hope you are able to get into an RE soon!

Oh my goodness those are long cycles!
It's crazy how people think there has to be a certain criteria to fall under to receive treatment!
Thank you so much for your lively comment
  • Today is CD 14 for me. I got my first positive opk today! I really didn't think it was going to change. I had 2 left and said I was just going to temp because I'm sick of only seeing a positive when I test out clomid. Of course I got the positive as dh was putting on his boots for work. I guess we will just have to bd once he gets home from work after midnight. I'm also in the biggest week of nursing school. I take a test Wednesday that determines if I graduate or not (2 attempts then you repeat the course a year later even though everything is done). So this is a crazy week! I will say I've been a little less stressed about the test because of ttc so that's a bonus I guess.

Qotw: Favorite is steak and lobster. I made it for him about two weeks ago.
  • Well - just got back from the RE.  Course of treatment: IVF per my husband's 4% morphology.  I definitely was not anticipating this news and trying to wrap my head around it all.  I thought we were so many other steps before this ---

    Words of encouragement, anyone?

I weight around 60kg so I get what you mean about them blaming your weight.
I had to endure 3 Pap smears in as many months, had to have STI and STD tests too. All because of my irregular bleeding. I have been with my partner for five years so I too was concerned as to where I would have gotten it. All clear though.

I am more frustrated at the fact that they fail to see an issue, I mean, before I got the DEPO I could have told you the very hour I would get my period, bang on time from I was 14.

Thank you though, a lot of people think 22 is very young. Considering I have my own home and I am more than ready for a child I think my age is irrelevant.

    Thank you!
  • @linne23 I am so sorry you received unexpected news. It's a strange feeling when treatment options are ripped out from underneath you, and I think it's definitely not unusual to feel grief over it. Looking on the bright side, however, the news does mean you won't waste money and heartache trying options that would have a tiny chance of working for you. MFI doesn't really affect success rates with IVF anymore due to advances like ICSI, so I believe you will have great chances of success in getting pregnant with IVF. I understand it's overwhelming to take such a large leap in treatment, but it really will give you your best shot at getting pregnant! If you need it, feel free to grieve the loss of other treatment possibilities, but try to keep your chin up and focus on the likely success you will have with IVF. Explore the RESOLVE website, which contains links to assist in the cost of IVF (contains both income-based and nonincome-based information). Best of luck to you!!

  • I'm going to call my RE tomorrow when the clinic opens and let them know my 6th cycle of clomid was unsuccessful. And going to book an appt to sign consent for either iui/IVF depending on what she recommends. I'm hoping for IVF more so than iui. In the meantime I'll keep tracking my cycle, goal is to lose 5-10% body weight before IVF, and keep on bd'ing.

  • well, I have a new treatment plan for this cycle. I didn't respond to the clomid at all so our new plan for this month is that I am on provera currently to jumpstart AF then we are doing a mixed cycle with Letrozole, dexamethasone, and injectable meds. Hopefully the injectables is what I need to get my ovaries going. On the bright side, since I started my new job and back to nightshift I have lost 12 pounds!

  • Hi ladies.

Well I'm nearing the end of another failed IUI cycle. I had a bfn on 12 and 13dpiui. Was supposed to get my beta today but work got in the way. I stopped crinone last night so hoping AF comes sooner rather than later.

This was a particularly rough bfn for me. This was an all injectibles month and I actually produced two mature follicles for the first time ever (every other time I have only produced one). I thought we had excellent timing for both TI and IUI but looking back, I am worried that I ovulated earlier.

I am pretty much done with my RE. I am doing one more IUI cycle (probably with injectibles) and then taking a break and switching REs. I want to enjoy the holidays and not obsess about TTC.

QOTW: we both love a really good steak. Although I would love to be a vegetarian for ethical purposes, there is no way I could not eat meat. It's too yummy.

Good evening! So AF made her visit last Thursday and so I began on Clomid, 50mg on Saturday (day 4) and stay on it until day 8. I have my ultrasound to see when the IUI will be next Wednesday.

QOTW: Anything Italian! Can't think of the last "cheat meal" we've had since we are both on weight watchers.

    Edited to answer QOTW

Mine is steak. Rare with salad and Asparasgus. Its been a few months!!
Hubbys is tacos. We had that last week.
  • Waiting for my ectopic to go away still. Last hcg was at 237 on Friday. I go back on Friday again to check the hcg levels. No idea what is in store for me after.

Dhs favorite meal that I make is meatloaf. I hate making it because it's so involved. Meatloaf mushroom sauce mashed potatoes. Lol. So many pots!!
  • All of you ladies on here never fail to amaze me with your perseverance and thoughtfullness. It helps me so much to be able to connect with others that are going through the same thing. I just want to say a big thank you to everyone on here for sharing and caring.
Anywho, I just got the dreaded AF on Saturday night after my TWW. Went o dr today, follies looking good, no cysts this month. Now I just need to go fill my letrezole and ovidrel prescriptions.
One more cycle, one more round of meds!

My fiancé's favorite meal is definitely homemade enchiladas with Mexican red rice. I make them both pretty darn well, and he gets REALLY excited when I do. It reminds him of his childhood, and me too, he's Mexican and I'm half. The last time I made it was about a month ago, it's a lot of work because I have to make enough for a small army!

Also currently waiting two weeks to learn if I passed my comprehensive exam in school counseling. This will be the longest two weeks EVER!! Haha. Dh's favorite meal is baja pie or cornbread casserole. I try to make one of them once a month.

  • Congratulations @mylienc and @CopperLane !!

I am on month 17 TTC. Had a blood test last week for the reaction to gluten that indicates Celiac. I was diagnosed with Celiac 5 years ago but with our infertility wanted to know if I still have gluten in my system or maybe haven't healed yet. So this is probably an indication that my body has been healing, but I don't have my follow up appointment until November 5th so we'll see what they say.

DH's favorite meal is probably pasties, which his mother makes in huge batches so whenever we go to visit, we come home with a cooler full. He has run out now, so it has been a while since he had one. We'll refill the freezer after Thanksgiving! If you aren't sure what a pasty is, here is a good explanation: https://www.upper-peninsula-now.com/pasties.html
