Possible preeclampsia

I had my 36 week check up and my blood pressure was just a little on the high side. Doctor didn't sound too worried as yet but had me do both a urine and blood test to make sure I don't have preeclampsia.
Do any ladies have any information on what exactly this is and what will happen if it does turn out I have this?

Re: Possible preeclampsia

  • Can't provide much information on preeclampsia, but my sister just delivered twin girls last month, and her blood pressure got higher than normal toward the end, and everything was totally fine! If your doc says he's not worry, try not to stress yourself out, mama!

  • My blood pressure also increased at my last check up. The top number about ten 'points' higher and the bottom number about 15. I was still in the 'ok' category but they're keeping an eye on it since it was a significant jump from what it was previously. However, my midwife said it was likely nothing to be concerned about and just to watch salt and sugar intake and drink plenty of water to keep swelling down. Also, my sister has experienced a blood pressure jump in the last trimester with all of her pregnancies, and it has never turned into anything serious for her.

So all that to say, with a healthy diet, it's probably all ok, but we definitely need to listen to our care providers and stay active in monitoring. Good luck to you!
