4Moms Infant Tub

Our LO is almost 4 weeks old, up until now we have been giving him sponge baths.  We got the 4Moms Tub, we love that it has a thermometer on it, filters clean and dirty water through, etc.  The other day we tried giving him a bath in it, and he screamed bloody murder the entire time.  Does anyone else have this tub and have any suggestions on how to make it a little more cozy/likable for a newborn?

Maybe it's just something we need to try when he's a little older...?

How often do you bathe baby?

Re: 4Moms Infant Tub

  • Our little guy is touch and go when it comes to baths. Sometimes he loves them and sometimes he hates them, so maybe next time your baby will like it more! I think the one time our little guy screamed maybe the water wasn't quite warm enough for him.

We don't have that tub, but we put a bath towel underneath where he sits (he sits in a sling in ours) to provide more cushion. Then we have a few washcloths and keep a wet warm one on his belly as we're washing the other parts of him to help keep him warm.

  • Mine was also screaming during bath time, I started using the extra washcloth as pp mentioned across LOs belly and have also been running the shower (Yes a waste of water I know) to warm up the bathroom. Last 3 baths no screaming!
  • I don't have the 4moms tub, but I do have the faucet temp reader. I've found that the water needs to be closer to 100 for my LO. It took a few bathes but now he loves them!

We also do the washcloth trick. And I may try @kbfash's idea of warming the bathroom, too!
  • I wrap LO in a small thin towel and wash with that while he's wrapped and then when all done it's a quick rinse and into a dry towel. He's never cried at bath time.
  • We had the Boon Naked tub which is hard plastic and we also put a hand towel down to cushion it for DD1. We haven't used it yet with DD2, we're still sponge bathing. Another tip is don't wet/wash the head until last. And keep a warm, wet washcloth over any parts you're not currently washing.
  • We do a bath everyday. We don't do soap everyday but I atleast put her in the tub. She screamed the first few times but now she smiles and kicks around. It may just take time. I also put a washcloth over her to keep her warm.
  • I'm not familiar with the 4moms tub bit I find that water needs to be warmer than you'd think. I test with my elbow to make sure it doesn't feel too hot. When I first brought home DD1, I was freezing her out during baths and couldn't understand why she hated them so much. Then I upped the temp a bit and she started enjoying herself.
