Fit mama weekly check in! Week 1

Re: Fit mama weekly check in! Week 1

  • @laurenc517 - What did you do at the gym?  Is it something you normally do (exercise wise)?  What did the doctor say (I would talk to your doctor if you haven't already)?

Unless you are overdoing it at the gym (getting dizzy, dehydrated, etc.) and so long as it is something you did before pregnancy regularly it is unlikely that a gym routine caused spotting.  Spotting is pretty normal in pregnancy.  Out of an abundance of caution you can always take it a notch down at the gym though (easy cardio) if it makes you feel more comfortable.  Listen to your body first and foremost.

I've continued with cardio but am wearing a heart rate monitor.  I don't get above 160 bpm (which is about the point where I cannot complete a full sentence without taking a breath half way in between words).  I haven't had bleeding after the gym yet but I'm really listening to my body.  The second I feel a little off (even if my heart rate is way below 160) I stop and rest.

  • One of my friends had this with her pregnancy, every time she ran she would get a little crampy and bleed. I think hers was because of the position of her placenta. Definitely ask your doctor!
  • I did call the doctor. She told me to just rest until my appointment on Tuesday. I did some weight training (no cardio) but nothing out of the ordinary. It was really not intense at all but I have been reading thy people with a history of miscarriages shouldn't lift anything heavy. This is my first time being pregnant but maybe lifting isn't ideal? @wyattnash00 @mkemommy
  • @laurenc517, I think anything you've been doing before should be fine now. I've kept up my weight lifting at the same weight. I would wait to see what ur dr says for peace of mind, and don't go crazy on Google, it will drive you crazy!
