38 weeks-cramps and contractions!

I'm 38 weeks + 3
On Monday I was 2cm dilated and 40% effaced. On the Saturday before my mucus plug came out. I had my membranes stripped on Monday and have had some serious cramping and contractions-the kind that stop you in your tracks and you feel like you can't breathe and the pain is traveling through my back into my legs. They aren't coming every 5 minutes but sometimes it's a rolling pain with no clear start or stop. I am having a lot of bloody show as well. I drink nothing but water and the contractions get lighter when I lay down but don't go away completely. Should I consider them BH since they aren't completely regular and ease up when laying down? I feel silly going to the hospital. I've had a child before so you think I would remember how it all feels but thanks to medications and a seven year gap I just remember it hurt but now what it actually felt like! I don't want to waste any ones time at the hospital or call my husband away from work if it's nothing!!
