Positivity Post

I was inspired by all you ladies in the UO thread to start up a Positivity Post. Let's post our happy, thankful, and positive things of the day here!

I was doing Epipen training with some of the tutors and they were whispering to each other when I turned around. I thought "Oh, great, I must have my pants on backwards or be wearing two different shoes" Nope. Finally, one said "Nurse Lauren, you look fantastic! What is your secret? Weight Watchers?" And they all chimed in about how great I looked today. Mind you, I did not shower, I am wearing my too-tight non-maternity pants, I forgot to buy more contacts so I have my huge coke-bottle glasses on with no makeup, and had a toddler sleep in bed with me last night so yeah, I was not feeling so hot. But apparently, I look fantastic. I finally had to admit that I don't necessarily recommend my "diet" to everyone...and blurted "Because I am pregnant!" There were cheers and I was hoisted in the air (ok, not really, but it was quite celebratory). Hopefully, that little boost will carry me through the rest of the day!

I'm not working today, but I had to take DD to daycare because I have a dentist appt this afternoon. SO, I'm currently at the mall, sitting on a couch on an outside terrace, in the sun on this beautiful fall day, sipping a smoothie and catching up on TB. Life is good

My hubs is the best. When I say I am fat, he tells me I am not. When I say I am tired, he puts me to bed. I never really thought he would be so supportive during PG (he is that guy that cries when he is sick, but if I am not feeling good there never is a lot of empathy). I am so happy I have him!! The man was googling "morning sickness" one day when I wasn't feeling great to see what he could do to help.

And he is so cute, how we keeps saying he is excited for "our" appointment on Monday. xoxoxo

Its small and silly but today marks 9 years I have been "friends" with DH on Facebook. Its fun to look back and see how far we have come: finishing school, moving into our first apartment, getting married, buying a house, and now a baby on the way.

I may be a freak for this but I've actually been a lot happier and content since getting KU. I think it is because I have no choice but to surrender to my body and let nature due its thing. My husband has been so supportive and amazing, I swear this pregnancy has brought out the best in both of us and our marriage. I am so lucky. And now crying as I type because, well, it is moving and amazing and I'm pregnant.

I've kept up my once-a-week spin class. It's hard and I'm usually tired, but I go. And I feel really good when I'm done! I do it every Tuesday (and I have a buddy I go with, which helps with accountability).

I have to echo @yogahh , my DH has been awesome. I have been feeling pretty sick lately and he has been doing a lot around the house and cooking dinner. He normally is very helpful around the house, but even more so now. He has been very understanding which is great!

@laurenmdrn16 thank you for doing this. I also think Twatwaffle Tuesday should be a thing of the past... In my other BMB we did Ten Things Tuesday. It was pretty cool. Just simply list 10 things going on in your life at the moment. I always looked forward to TTT! Just an idea if anyone is interested as the current Tuesday thing is just another downer.

Yesterday a woman from my church who I don't know very well and who has been through four pregnancies of her own came all the way out to my house to talk and give me a helping hand, because she'd heard I was pregnant and haven't been feeling well. I couldn't believe her kindness! Afterwards I had the best night's sleep I've had in two weeks and I think it was due to the peace of mind she gave me! So awesome.

@Jenly17 Idk I think some of the twat waffles are kinda funny. Like the kid who never showed up to class but would appreciate it if teacher helped him pass the midterm. Bwahahaha

I'm so glad that I got to hug DS and DH before I went to work this morning (usually they're still sleeping...or DS is awake and really upset that I'm leaving and DH is trying to soothe him). DS had woken up right before I left, but was content with DH. Also, DH is working really hard to find another job and got a promising lead yesterday, he also started his fall online grad-school classes yesterday off on the right foot. In the meantime, he's picking up some slack with housework and working to renovate our downstairs bathroom. I'm proud of how he's taken a difficult set of circumstances and is making it work. : )

I got a call yesterday from my SIL's boyfriend. My SIL and I are BFFs. Well he just told me that he is PROPOSING to her this Saturday!!! I am thrilled. For me, this ties with my BFP as the most exciting news this year! I just love the two of them and cannot wait.

I'm thankful for the call I just got from the upholstery place. They quoted 4-6 weeks for some work but instead it took them only one week! I can't wait to see how it came out.

I forgot to write my positivy post! This sounds corny but I am super grateful for each day that I'm alive. My current living situation is crazy- H, myself and DD and are living in one bedroom at my Mom's temporarily and it's stressful at times, but I remind myself everyday that there is a roof over my family, food on our table and breath in our lungs, so there is always something to be grateful for.

Yesterday was amazing. I splurged and bought a Nespresso Lattissima Pro since most of their espresso pods have < 100 mg of caffeine. I've been making delicious lattes now! I actually ate lunch without wanting to vomit. Our house cleaners came and left the house sparkling clean with fresh sheets on the bed. And I only woke up ONCE last night to pee. ONE TIME! I was actually able to run a little bit this morning. And to make this week even better, I finally paid off my credit card. Wahoo!

My biggest client told me today that I'm their favorite relationship manager and in the last two days I've gotten to great referrals from current clients. It makes me happy!

I was back in my hometown (out of state) last weekend for my sister's baby shower. (She is due 6 months and 1 day before me, and I am so excited that our children will have cousins so close in age.) While I was there, I found a really cheap last minute round trip plane ticket, and I bought it for my mom so she could come back with me for the week.

When we got back to my house, my mom found out that one of her high school friends that she had not seen in years was also in town on vacation, so they have gone to the beach and hung out all day every day this week while I have been at work. I feel so much better knowing she's not sitting at my house bored all day and that she gets to catch up with a good friend!

Even though I have been working during the day, it has been nice getting to spend every evening with my mom. I don't get to see my family nearly enough since I move out of state years ago. My boss has been extra flexible and has been okay with me leaving early the past few days to spend more time with her. I just wish she didn't have to leave tomorrow!

DD used to wake up at 6:30 or 7:00 every morning and she's been waking up later and later...this morning she got up after 9:30! I showered, ate, relaxed, and cleaned up before she even made a peep and it was fantastic.

Also I have my first appointment today! I love the NP at my OB's office and am excited to see her today.

And finally we announced the new baby to our family earlier this week. My SIL is due 4 days ahead of me and I'm so excited to be pregnant at the same time! I texted my cousin to tell her and she told me she actually had a positive pregnancy test that same day! So there will be three new babies in our family within weeks. Ahh!

My husband tore his Achilles last year at work. He was in a wheelchair while I was pregnant, while I was in labor. We were doing pretty bad financially with us both being out of work. He was out of work for 6 months! Last week he finally had court for a settlement for his injury. Yay. But they said the check won't come for 5 weeks. Still can't complain. This month has been hard. With the way the pay checks fell I had to send in the rent check 1 day late. I don't like that. Too tight. I started to sell some of my things online. So then Saturday there's a surprise in the mail! It's the settlement check. It only took 3 days to come. It just couldn't have come at a better time when we were more in need. It's not huge by any means but enough so pay some late bills and put away 2k to save for another emergency.

Feeling very grateful for all the help family and friends have offered to help with pregnancy and baby! At first I was scared to go on this journey and feeling like it would be a terrible struggle to manage bringing a baby into the world. Everyone has been so supportive. I have 5 pregnancy books from friends to read now and offers to help set up the nursery. It's the little things that make me feel more confident about doing this!

Some time ago on TTGP and then on our private board we do AW (brag /vent essentially because there was no place for that because every day seemed like a bitch thread).

Like I think AW posts for nurseries are awesome in BMB's when people start them, and AW for crafting or cooks etc.

My daughter had 5 vials of blood drawn this morning and was really well behaved and didn't cry. She's 4 and only 27lbs, so this is a big deal!

I love my OB. She spent a good 10 minutes explaining what everything we saw in our u/s yesterday was and when I asked her about things I had heard I needed to avoid (teas, canned food, etc) she told me all tea was fine just don't go crazy and try to do decaf- and canned food is fine. She also told me I can paint the one room we have left to paint and help rip up carpet as long as I wear a mask and have the windows open. She's very much a "just listen to your body" doctor and I love that.

My DS slept from 6:30pm-6am, for the second night in a row. I feel like a new woman... OK- well I'm still tired but less tired than 2 nights ago when he was in my bed hitting me every hour.

Also, this morning when I was dropping him at daycare I usually sit and play for a bit until I have to leave. Every time someone walked through the door, he would stop dead in his tracks, turn to me and run with this big smile on his face and hug me. It was just the best.

Tomorrow is my birthday and for once, I am not dreading it. I am going to make 30 my best year ever. It should be really slow tomorrow at work so I am going to do a half day. I want to pick up my daughter and spend the rest of the afternoon with her.

Today has been just great! Had my 8wk ultrasound. Got to see my little for the second time. Hear the heartbeat for the first! It's just amazing. Then I had a delicious breakfast with my big sister and we took a walk on the beach to see what we could find since we just had that big storm here on the coast of VA. Found some pretty cool rocks, shells and drift wood. All is well today. I am happy

I am thankful for a night out last night with my two best friends. It was a belated birthday dinner for me. We went to RPM, ate way to much and had lots of laughs. So needed! And I came home to two sleeping kids!

I'm really excited because Saturday is our 1st anniversary and we have planned to go to a fancy steak house and then spend the night together watching our wedding video, eating our wedding cake and generally just spending the day together. So excited!

DH gets up every morning to go to the gym at 5:30am while my little frenchie and I snooze in bed like bums. He comes home and eats healthy. I order Taco Bell and pizza and anything with cheeeeeeeese. He has not judged me ONCE. I found out that he had downloaded a pregnancy app so he could then learn about the baby's growth and what I'm going through.

This is why he hasn't judged me. That right there is the reason I married this man - DH is the real MVP! (Yes, I just used slang that my college students use and I'm proud of myself.)

Because of the nature of my position, I told my boss about the pregnancy today (even though it's still a wee bit early). He was just so genuinely happy for me and supportive, I feel very lucky. There is only one other female in my office and she just got back from maternity leave in May, so I was a little worried a stupid joke would be made and I would feel awkward. For me, I have a stressful job, and it is nice to know I have this base covered.
