I can see them wanting to take precautions, but this is excessive. If it's a national chain, I would contact HR on their actual policies. If not or if something still seems fishy, I'd find a lawyer that does free/cheap consultations on situations like this.
@thegingeravenger yes it's a corporate company I'm two seconds away from calling HR because my district manager won't do a damn thing!!! I mean honestly how can they tell ME when I'm going on maternity leave?! Insanity!
If you don't have any luck with HR, like PP mentioned, I'd recommend calling your state's Department of Labor. I had an issue with my last job about hours worked/pay, and the DoL was a huge help!!
I would say definitely call the local departments of legal aid. If you live in a major city, you may be able to find their number 311. This just doesn't sound right. I have a lot of friends that are hairstylist and work right up until the week of.
This depands on witch state u live in some states like NJ give u four 2eeks befor delivery with 60 percent pay. Also hav3 u filled anything out for miterity leave yet? Or are u just taking FMLA leave?
Yeah I don't think they can do that as long as you are able to perform your job requirements. If you don't get anywhere with HR or the labor dept, I would contact lawyer. In my experience many will at least talk to you over the phone about whether you have a case and what they suggest. It may be worth the money to have them contact your employer.

Stop being 2 seconds from making the call and just make the call.
It depends entirely on your original contract with the company and how you're employed by them. Both of my retail positions are "at will" positions, which means that scheduled hours can vary, the company is under no obligation to schedule any hours for me, and I am under no obligation to accept the hours as offered. The reality is that you work the hours you're offered otherwise someone with greater availability and flexibility gets your shifts too. I don't know, but I strongly suspect that as part of a national chain with a corporate flavour, your contract is on a similar basis. Also, if the attitude you just gave @Ceridwen77 is any indication, you might have just explained to us all why your hours were cut. People are offering you solid advice and you're being an arsehole to then. Get over it princess.
If this is how you treat people who give you good advice when you ask for it, I have to wonder how you'd act if someone coached you on something work-related. I'm thinking, as @FilbertTree suggested, maybe that's the real reason you're seeing a reduction in hours?

Wow you guys are quite judgemental!! I live in a household with a bunch of siblings, one who got a hold of my phone. I highly doubt that I would write for help and be genuinely thanking somebody in one post and then cussing somebody out in the next. So I apologize to all that were offended by that!! I would never speak like that to somebody. And for the record, our whole company is experiencing cut backs in hours, they just are scared that I will go into labor on the job I guess? I'm not too sure.

So your siblings just happened to KNOW which thread was posted by you and decided to respond on your behalf? I smell a rat!
Just an old 'bad apple' with no home to call her own, lurking in the shadows :-)
Lol ew this app literally has the rudest people on it ! I don't even know how to delete an entire thread let alone delete a comment so sorry I can't work it up to your standards.
Hold up. You can figure out how to edit an initial post but not a comment? Don't start with the victim playing when you were the one dropping f-bombs.

Nobody was rude until YOU started throwing the F bomb around! You can't delete an entire thread, and don't bother deleting your comments either, those that matter were quoted.
People gave you genuine advice before things turned sour, don't blame others for your mistakes!

We can't delete threads. The idea is that no matter the question, someone else could benefit from being able to search and find this thread which is one of the reasons DDs (dirty deletes) are so frowned upon. So now because no one quoted your original post, someone that may have searched the site for questions regarding their hours being cut and/or being essentially forced into an early maternity leave has nothing to gain from this thread since your original question is gone.
Swearing at anyone on here, let alone a frequent contributor of this community, and then lying about it (seriously, don't insult anyone's intelligence on here. We're not dumb) is how you go from helpful answers, which you got, to nothing.
This is what I get for sleeping. OP you weren't hacked you're just a brat. I think I can see why your hours are being cut. I wouldn't want to be your coworker because your attitude is all sweetness and light as long as someone is giving you what you want but the second someone tells you something you don't want to hear it's f-bombs and crap attitude followed by "I was hacked" yeah no. Ugh.
I go to bed and I miss everything-- was the original issue get resolved? Or did ish just go from zero to someone's getting banned in .3 seconds-- real quick?
I read the original post and thought it was a legitimate question/concern. Now I check back and it's all gone to hell in a handbag. These dirty deletes and attitudes by OPs that don't like what they hear/read are getting old when people were genuinely trying to help.

I lurk. I snark. I offer sound advice if you're not BSC. You may not like me. I'm okay with it.
