Re: Weekly checkin - Oct 2

  • Carrie from Florida

    TTC #1 for 9 months, MMC/D&E + chemical pregnancy

    Charting/temping, opks

CD1!  I'm so glad AF is here. Missing your fertile window and not having a hopeful TWW makes the cycle drag on so slowly.

I really, really hope DH is feeling well enough to TTC this cycle.

QOTW: DH and I are going to see John Cleese and Eric Idle tomorrow night. Yay!  I could really use a date night.  And next weekend, DH's friend and his gf are coming to visit.
    TTC#1 since Jan 2015
    BFP 2/19/15  •  MMC found at 9 wks  •  D&E at 11 wks (age 36)
    BFP 8/29/15
      •  CP (age 37)
    BFP 11/18/15  •  DD born at 41 weeks <3(age 37/38)

    TTC#2 since May 2017
BFP 10/18/17  •  MMC found at 8 wks  •  Misoprostal at 10.5 wks (age 39)

    BFP 2/16/18
      •  CP (age 39)
    BFP 4/13/18
      •  CP (age 39)
    BFP 5/07/18  •  MMC found at 10.5 wks  •  D&E at 11.5 wks
    •  Testing showed it was a girl with Trisomy 22. (age 39/40)
9/5/18 Diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve (4-5 follicles, one ovary had none and was very atrophied)

RE says the low egg count is likely causing my recurrent pregnancy loss. Less eggs results in more aneuploidy.

    BFP 9/24/18  •
    CP (age 40)
    BFP 5/11/19  •  Fraternal twins  •  MMC found at 10w5d (Baby A 6w, Baby B 10w)  •  Misoprostal at 11 weeks (age 41)

  • 'Morning!

    BulgariHeart. Bicoastal.

    TTC #1. Cycle #4.

Charting/Temping. OPKs. Supplementation. Acupuncture/TCM. Maya massages and Moxibustion. Nettles tea.
I saw my LAc two days ago, she gave me a new formula to help me O a little further in the cycle and also gave me a Moxa stick to use at home. I'm giving myself some very lovely abdominal massages, which are helping with my adhesions tremendously. I have adhesions from having had my appendix removed as a child. Now those adhesions are impeding the proper circulation of the abdomen and the massages, acupuncture and Moxa are working their magic.
I also ordered some mugwort to use as a vaginal steam bath in case I get my next period. ( Last week I mistakenly mentioned motherwort but then remembered that my LMT used mugwort in the vaginal steam bath she did following my massage. I apologize for the confusion!)

    CD10. Waiting to O.

I was feeling  a lot better last cycle when we took a break! LOL Ugh, so much pressure.
Anyways, my cycles are changing so much and so fast that even if I don't get pregnant I'm going to be happy to see what new progress comes next! Last cycle I had a 3 day AF, something I hadn't had in who knows how long! It was painless and normal. I am very happy!

QOTW: No big plans, just work!

    TTC #2 for 2 months

CD #1 - AF came this morning

    OPKs

bummed out AF came this morning but happy my cycle finally regulated after coming off BC. Man do those hormones mess with us. Also focusing on my beautiful little girl- she climbed into our bed this morning to snuggle and as I think every day, I'm so very fortunate to be her momma. Can't let TTC consume all my energy but it's hard not to!

Date night with hubby this weekend- out to dinner and see a comedian- excited for a night out with my love! Ok, and excited for wine...
  • @CarrieandRoy yay for CD 1 finally and date night!!
  • Amanda from South Carolina

I was hopeful for this month until I started spotting yesterday

Nothing really.  We were going on a Poker Run tomorrow but we're supposed to get bad storms this weekened so we will probably just watch netflix and veg out on the couch
  • Sinnet from upstate NY

think I O'd yesterday so just starting the tww. Will try to hold off testing until missed af - oct 17 - if I can hold out that long.

timed bd'd pretty well this month so i'm hopeful.

  • Kathleen in GA

TTC #1 for 6 cycles now.

I'm doing medicated IUIs with RE, with acupuncture and TCM herbs.

    I'm 3dpo/dpiui.

I waver between feeling hopeful and feeling... not so hopeful.  I think we've decided to try up to 8 IUIs before moving to IVF.  I mean, hetero women usually try at home for 6 months before they even see a doctor, and most our age take 10 months to get pregnant.  I never got to try any DYI TTC, so it may be jumping the gun to go to IVF yet.  I'm also intimidated by the cost, especially since my wife is funemployed for the moment, and this IUI went on a credit card.

We were going to go to a local burn this weekend, but canceled because I'm just not up for camping right now.  Instead, we're filling our schedule with experimental theater, crafts show, film festival, and church.
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

  • Whiggrrl65 (aka kmetcalfe77); East Coast

    TTC#1 for 14 months

I had 4th IUI on Monday. Took Bravelle shots this month and produced 2 follies.

    4DPIUI

Very hopeful this month. We were able to have sex on Sunday and did IUI on Monday with a great count from DH.

QOTW: so we have tickets to two craft beer festivals with friends tomorrow who don't know I'm TTC. I'm a believer in drink til it's pink BUT uneasy about getting drunk during TWW. It has me anxious because I love craft beer and the friends are we going with are party animals.
      • TTC #1 since August 2014
      • currently on 5th medicated IUI cycle
  • jentje79, the Caribbean

This is my 1st month TTC #1

Im currently 12dpo, nervously waiting to see if AF comes. Only doing OPK, and I just started on supplements to try and raise progesterone levels.

Tomorrow morning a date with my mother in law, and at night planning to go to a local festival with te boyfriend.
  • 1. JennOK

    2. TTC #2 going on 5 months, almost 1.5 years off BC and not preventing.

    3. I started temping this cycle. I'm hoping it will give me some insight to what's going on.

    4. I'm waiting to O. I've been sick the last couple of days, and that's messing with my temps. I should O sometime next week.

    5. I'm hopeful. I really just feel like we'll get a BFP in the next 2 or 3 cycles. I have nothing to base that on whatsoever though. Just trying to be optimistic I suppose.

Weekend Plans: I have none right now. I'm still sick, in bed as I type this. I will probably just lounge around the house and try to feel better. I see a couple of naps.
  • 1. Heather from MN

    2. TTC #2 for 17 months.

    3. Totally natural ... and I missed my O day like a newbie.  I'm taking the supplements (CoQ10, Myo-inositol, chinese herbs), high protein/veg, low carb diet, weight loss, acupuncture, Reiki, Mayan Abdominal Massage, etc. etc. etc.  :)

    4. CD1 of my last cycle before IVF

    5. I'm hoping I lose at least 6 pounds this month and I'll consider it a success.  I'd be absolutely flabbergasted if I got pregnant on my own after everything we've done.

    2. TTC #1, not preventing since 11/12, actively trying since 8/14 (two losses in 2014)

    3. OPKs (Wondfo), temping, prenatals, evening primrose oil, CoQ10, probiotics, Vit D, fish oil, Myo-inositol, D-Chiro-Inositol, cayenne, flaxseed oil. Also some nasty herbal concoction twice a day from the acupuncturist. Still going strong with the no carb/no sweets diet (except for AF-binging).

    4. CD7, waiting to O...

    5. Glad AF is over. It was sooo painful. It just seems to be getting worse each cycle (pain and mood wise), although my temps during this past luteal phase were A+++ so that's a definite improvement. Anyway, all of the follow-up tests are in and the main problem is my high-ish prolactin levels. I'm sure the RE will give me medication to bring that down and probably something to stimulate ovulation as well. Gotta love PCOS. We go in on Tuesday to talk about a plan of action. SO this is probably my last cycle trying all natural...

I'm busy this weekend with a lot of rehearsals for our upcoming Halloween show.

    Good luck everyone!

Started cramping and spotting Thursday. POAS this morning and BFN. If it's negative today I'm sure it will be the same tomorrow guess I'm out. If af doesn't show in a few days I'll test again. On to the 3rd and final IUI. If that one doesn't work I've come to the end of my TTC journey. Fx for the rest of you ladies who test this coming week and the ones on to their next cycle
  • @agriffin92013 - Will you try injectables for this final IUI?  Not only would it help you recruit more follicles, I've heard injectables can actually help egg quality/maturation.  It might be worth a shot.  They're expensive if your insurance doesn't cover them, but could be worth it and I know there are deals out there.

    2. TTC #2 since Feb 2015, cycle #3 post-MC

    3. Opks, CM, CP, acupuncture, herbs, supplements, pnv, maya abdominal massage, BD EOD (assuming we can sneak it in with my mother staying with us and my sister and her family in town my entire FW) and instead soft cups (for the first time). I feel a little over the top for trying these, but at this point, my pre-TTC self wouldn't recognize the new me anyway, so why not... Has anyone tried them for TTC?!?!

    4. CD4 - AF showed up 2 days earlier than expected which at least means my next O will be sooner.

    5. Not sure how to feel anymore. I feel like it will happen at some point, but I'm afraid to feel to hopeful for any particular cycle b/c I'm tired of being disappointed. My SO's father is terminally ill and it would be amazing to be able to give him and SO's mom good news in the next month or two.

  • Sorry this is so late ...

    2. TTC #1 for about 4 months - but last month we missed the window since DH was sick

    3. OPKs and prenatals - just started temping with this cycle and I'm so confused!

    4. CD15 - waiting to O - I swear it should have happened by now tho ... :(

    5. I've been doing really good this month with staying positive, but that's starting to waiver in the last few days. I was excited to start temping because OPKs were starting to irritate me, but now - not only are the OPKs irritating me but temping is making me go nuts! It may just me because I'm so new at it - but my temps have been all over the place. I took the advice of some people on the board and starting using the OPKs multiple times a day and have even been using two different kinds - one digital and one not. The non-digital has not registered anything yet, while the digital one starting to give me that flashy smilie face on CD8 and I have been getting it ever since. Today, I had to go buy a new kit since I ran out of strips, took the test when I got home and got NOTHING, not even the flashy smilie face. My CM has been increasing like normal, but I haven't gotten the EWCM yet. I'm just so confused. AF was 3 days late this last cycle (which I figure was because of the colposcopy I had mid-cycle last month) - so I don't know if that's throwing me off - or what. :(

(On the brightside, I think I'm getting the hang of these acronyms.)

Last weekend, I went to visit some family and went to a party at my bosses house - had a great time, but very, very little sleep.
  • @pekaboosmiles I'm new to OPKs as well but I think I remember reading if you have to buy new kit in middle of cycle you keep using the same digital tester with the new strips otherwise the new one thinks you are starting a new cycle?! Anyone else know about this?
  • Oh and sorry to hear about your colposcopy--- aren't they awful?! So painful!
  • I've never heard of that before, but it would make sense!

Thanks - yea, very uncomfortable, luckily it was quick and the cramping was only bad for able half the day  - but the doctor said everything looked good and the test results came back perfectly fine.
  • Someone posted a whole description awhile back of how ClearBlue Advanced OPKs work. Basically, once the reader shows a "flashy" smiley face, it keeps that setting until you get your LH surge. So you'll keep getting flashy smiles every day. If you switch to a new reader, it resets and takes the new reading as the "baseline" and then goes from there. You will most likely go back to flashy smiles in a day or two. Good luck!

  • @pekaboosmiles - in the future, if you have to buy more strips, keep using the same device for the rest of the month. That way you won't be starting from scratch. You can read the directions to get more info, or go to their website. I definitely prefer the digital. I tried the FRER opks alongside the digital for two months and I could never really tell when my peak was with the non-digital.

    Good luck!

  • The new CB digital readers have made it a bit more easier to make sense of.  They now outright say low, high, or peak and the screen itself is in color.  One thing to note though that I learned the hard way.  It wants you to use it with your FMU.  My RE wanted me to use it in the afternoon (learned this after the fact).  It never registered as a peak for me in the morning but a IC opk showed my peak in the afternoon/evening.
  • Thanks everyone! Luckily, I hadn't thrown away the old digital tester yet ... tested again today and the flashing smilie is back.

@piperella - I've heard that it may be better to test more in the afternoon, but the instructions say to use FMU so it's confusing. The digital OPKs can be expensive, so I've been using those in the morning and then using non-digital OPKs in the afternoon and evening, but I always have a hard time reading those.
  • I like to use the clearblue digital with the wondfo opk strips. It helps me see the LH surge start and decline.

  • Since the digital ones are sooo pricey (and since I have very long cycles) I've been using mostly Wondfo strips but as the line starts to get darker, then I add in the digitals so that I can make sure I don't miss my O day. Also, the basic ClearBlue digital (which goes from blank to a solid smiley) is just as good. I gave up on the flashy one because on the cycles that I don't O, I literally get 2 weeks of flashy smiley faces and it drives me crazy. The basic ones are cheaper and only take 3 minutes to calculate.
