So i have been in pain all week and am now 37 weeks and2 days and have decided to try taking castor oil to help things along im 1 cm dilated just wondering if anyone else has tried it
NO. It causes you to puke or poop yourself. It can easily cause dehydration and fetal distress. The contractions it causes are due to the irritation of the bowels. It may or may not even be labor. Unless there's a medical reason for you to be induced (which would be at the hands of your doctor) don't try to induce yourself. You can cause a lot more harm than good.
I know at least one person on this board tried it with a previous pregnancy, and her LO had some severe negative consequences. Please research before attempting! You're only 37 weeks. Let your baby come when he/she is ready, for goodness sakes!

And I would be increasingly skeptical of a doctor that advises you to take something that would cause both vomiting and diarrhea ON TOP of green lighting you to try to "pop" your baby out at 37 WEEKS. Your baby is still growing and getting stronger. Why in the world would you want to force your little one out when s/he isn't even fully ready yet?
That can also cause your baby to have a bowel movement. Which is dangerous. My friend experienced that. So, I definitely would NOT recommend it. I'm sorry you're in pain but that's not exactly a good reason to have your baby come out if he or she isn't ready. A lot of us are in pain and some of the girls here have had their babies come early and would give anything to have them stay in longer to even reach where you are now. You've only got a few weeks left. You can do it. They'll come when they're ready.
Sweet lord baby Jesus no. Be patient! You're only 37 weeks and you need to do what is best for the baby. If you don't have a medical need on your part to warrant an early arrival, you'll just have to suck it up. We are all uncomfortable and/or eager. Being a parent means putting LO first and it is best to let the baby bake as long as possible.
Just be prepared to be responsible for a possible emergency situation because you're impatient. You're not term and castor oil is not a good idea. I'm sorry you're uncomfortable, trust me I get it (hospitalized 6 times so far for uncontrollable vomiting and severe dehydration and continue to vomit 10-20 times a day) but I would never go to that extreme to try to force her out of me. Just saying.
We are all in pain, we are all hugely pregnant. Doesn't mean we risk premature birth for baby. If your doctor thinks you need to take castor oil, why wouldn't he just induce you instead? Insert poop emoji
You're only 37 weeks! You KNEW pregnancy could last until 42 weeks before you even got yourself KU, stop being selfish, your discomfort is NOTHING compared to how you could make your baby feel by doing this! Being 1cm dilated is nothing and means NOTHING! your baby isn't ready, if he/she was, you'd be in labor right now. 37 weeks isn't full term, and if your doc really gave the green light (and i'm willing to bet you're fucking lying), they need to be struck off!
I'm not going to sugar coat anything for you, If you do this, you're an idiot of the biggest proportion!
Just an old 'bad apple' with no home to call her own, lurking in the shadows :-)

When I was overdue with DS my dr said I could try anything I wanted to induce labor expect castor oil. She said she had never seen proof that any of them worked, but castor oil was the only one that could be harmful. At 37 weeks I agree with PP just wait, but if you really want to try something, try something else.

Yo here I am the person who did end up with very negative side effects. DO NOT risk it. I usually say follow dr orders but in this case your dr is making a bad decision and part of me feels you're lying. I don't know any dr anywhere that would think 1 cm dialated would enough to warrant self induction. Why not just wait it the hell out. I am in so much pain I can barely move but I am sticking it out as long as possible. Time to suck it up and put your child's needs in front of your own, which is a big part of being a good parent.
This is what you're going to feel like, and you'll have no one to blame but yourself. I hope you've completely stocked your bathroom with a hoard of tp.
If you're actually 37 weeks, shouldn't you be on the October board instead of November? I just hit 36 weeks today and I'm due Nov 3rd. Why on Earth would you put your baby at risk because of your own discomfort? That's a pretty selfish way to start out motherhood. You're in for a rude awakening.
As someone who just had her second preterm baby this week: This is not something to wish upon yourself!!!!!!! Let your little one grow and develop as long as possible!!
And lots of other thoughts that are just to mean to type out.
I just wanted to add that babies are a lot easier to take care of in the womb than on the outside. I'd enjoy those shots to the ribs and karate moves for as long as you can. Everyone is always in such a rush to move onto the next phase of life that we don't really appreciate the life we're actually living. And, that's my philosophical rant for the day.
37 weeks is way too early to rush along your baby's arrival. There are lots of options to try to induce labor that are much safer than castor oil, (sex, pineapple, spicy food, exercise, etc) please consider those before attempting something that could be dangerous for your baby.

Why would you do that?! Let your baby reach full term and be born when he or she is ready. I have really bad sciatica pain and I would never do anything that can jeopardize my baby's health.
I just read this again, seriously OP you're complaining about a week of pain?? ONE FLIPPIN WEEK!!!! I had contractions with my second for 17 weeks, SEVENTEEN!! Never once did my doc suggest getting him out early. I even carried full term. I has so happy to go 40 weeks when i thought there was a chance he was going to come at 23 weeks. I did and always will go through as much pain as I need for my child to be healthy. Your in for a big surprise in delivery
Yeah I am pretty sure at this point that it must be MUD. Another drive-by poster looking to stir shit up. Well congrats OP you've managed to worry a bunch of Internet strangers more worried about the safety of a child than you.
