Re: Baby names !

  • I knew an Adelyne, loved it when I first heard it!

  • My husband and I have a couple girls names picked out. We are having fraternal twins, don't know genders yet. However, we are having a hard time deciding on a boys name. Our top three contenders are Pierce, Dax, and Brandt. The middle name would be michael after my husband. What are your thoughts on those three names?
  • Brandt is DH's middle name - he hates it... I love it!
  • I agree! I love Charlie, Ryan, and Dallas for a girl!
  • I'm new to the community what does "DD" and "DH" stand for?
  • @beautyinmotion DH is dear/darling husband, DD is dear/darling daughter, DS is son. Ladies with multiple children of the same sex will refer to DS1, DS2, etc.

I like Pierce. The other two names I have honestly never even heard of before. Dax doesn't sound like a name at all to me.

DD is Lillian (Lily) and DH loves the idea of flower names - Daisy or Rose. I haven't decided if it's just cheesey enough or too cheesey

    I LOVE the name Daisy.

At the moment, our top two girls' names are Everly Maple and Eden Avonlea (DD is Brynn Aspen). Top two boys' are Caleb Leif and Isaac Wilder.

If you love names, check out nameberry.com, especially the forums!
    I love Maple and Leif!
  • If it's a boy we're naming him Timothy after his father and if it's a girl Violet :)
  • I'm late to this game but looking for a little input. My husband and I both have names that start with M. We named our first daughter Mackenzie Cathleen and call her Mack. So the M trend is very there, but I don't totally love it as we didn't purposefully to do that. Clearly weren't thinking at the time.
Welp, fast forward to now and pregnant with number 2 and if it's a boy my husband wants Michael.. after himself. Ha. (I like it, too. It's just another M)
If it's a girl I don't totally love any M names. So here's crazy what if... If we have a girl this time around and let's say we name her Cecelia And then we happen to have a boy for number three with Michael as the name... Is that gonna suck for the second girl/middle child with a name that doesn't start with M? I mean for all we know I could have a third girl, too... would that be awful if we are all Ms and you're the one kid with out it? I'm almost praying for a boy, call him Mike, and just deal with all of the Ms for the rest of my life. I probably wouldn't care as much if our names didn't start with an M as the parents....
    Thanks for any suggestions
  • @mmm413 if you do continue the M trend.. I love Maya as a girl's name. DHs cousin used it so now I can't but it's one of my favorites.
  • Yayyyyyyy!!!! I'm super stoked that I'm not the only one with baby names already on the brain (and set in stone in my book, lol :-SS ) but I'm going with:

    Dakota Love- girl
    Kodi Lamont- boy

We have 3 girls, 2 are mine, and one is his...this will be our first together!
  • I love the name Grey and Greyson!
  • @mmm413 I plan on naming a future daughter an H name and a future son a C name. Current DS has an H name. But me and DH don't have H names so it's not as big a deal. It be more concerned with Michael and Mack sound so similar. Maybe Michael can be the middle name, or the first name but he goes by something else.
First BFP 12/2012, MMC at 9 weeks
Second BFP 6/2013, resulted in DS, born 2/23/14 :-)
Third BFP 5/2015, natural MC at 6 weeks
Fourth BFP 8/2015, hoping for sticky little brother or sister to H!

I personally don't think that would be a big deal. Honestly I don't really like the whole "letter themed family" thing anymore. I come from a big J family and talking got a bit crazy with the whole "J--J--J--J..." and it seems so limiting to only be able to pick names from one letter of the alphabet! I am naming my kid the name I like no matter what letter it starts with.

We've basically settled on Judah regardless of sex (no middle names, but they'll have to deal with having both our last names), but we're always tossing names at each other to see if we like any better.

    Maple Leif.
    Haha. Most definitely not together.
  • I like Sage & Seneca
I also like Denali but my friend from Alaska said there are lots of little girls named Denali because of the mountain so I just wouldn't have immediately pictured it on a boy even if that's more traditional.

This. My name, as well as my sibling's names and my dad's name all start with an A. My sister gave my niece an A name. So when I told my brother that I was Pg he asked, "You're gonna give it an A name, right?" as if the world would end if I didn't. I do like some A names but I would prefer not to continue the tradition.

Same goes for my middle name. I'm not a huge fan of it, Marie. It is my mom's mn and my grandmother's mn, not sure if it goes back any further but dammit, I shouldn't be forced or obligated to name my child after myself because of tradition. I want my own tradition.

  • All I can think of now is the Duggars. Poor Jinger with her fake J name.
Is it pronounced like Ginger or Jing-er? ETA: that's definitely how I feel about the name Khloe. Until the Kardashians, I had only ever seen it spelled Chloe and the K spelling annoys me. Kourtney too. Ugh.
It's pronounced Ginger, but I always see Jing-er when I read her name. Terrible.

That's probably the most offensive thing anyone has ever said to me.

Love both Gabriella and Arthur. Any reason for the extra "u" in Arthur?

I was wondering that, too.  Arthur is on our list for boy names, sooo...IDK...Maybe Aurthur is a more...traditional spelling I don't know about?
  • @seasidesweete I think @RoseShadow873 was making a joke? Not sure but that's how I interpreted it.

Also wondering why there's a U in Arthur. Unless it's a different country's spelling or family tradition, I really urge people to spell their children's names correctly.

  • My Husband and I have decided that we need to pick out two names for each.. Our original name for our boy has always been Blake, however I am digging Eli now.. we will have to see who wins if it's a boy :)

Our girls names are Harper and London, so we will also see when baby comes out what it is.

  • Yeah, I was mostly joking. I mean, if this wasn't an online semi-anonymous situation then I would not be joking, but I can see how it's a valid question on a baby site since those people like to reproduce so much. Indeed, finding out that family has the same tradition as mine further strengthened my resolve to not continue it.
  • We just found out we are having a boy and we are going with Wyatt Connor.
If we ever have a girl it would be Agnes Rose.
  • Wait is there any sort of unspoken rule that the firstborn has to carry on the tradition of names? My family has had a Michael in every generation for as far back as you can see, and I'm trying to avoid M names since our last name starts with M. :p

If there is, I'm not doing it. DH is Miguel, his dad had the same name, and he already has a son named Michael. Nope, nope, nope.
