As for your DH mine was like that with my first pregnancy. Kindly tell him that you are a big girl and you managed fine without his input thus far and will continue to do fine without it. It will get better. Mine got the hint.
Before getting pregnant, I would drink 1 cup every morning. Nothing special, just black coffee, but if I didn't get the 1 cup, I would end up with a caffeine headache that would turn into a migraine if I wasn't careful. So a month before we started TTC, I started to cut back... would do half a cup, quarter of a cup, etc etc because I knew when we did get pregnant I didn't want to keep up the routine of coffee. It took some time, and I'm glad I started early, because now it doesn't phase me at all. I know I can have 200mg of caffeine, but if I get into a slump in the afternoon, or I spontaneously want chocolate... I don't want to have to track my caffeine intake to make sure I don't go over.
And yes... I know I know... everything in moderation. It's ok to bend the rules every once in a while, yadda yadda yadda... but if I can lower the risks for my baby (first time mom here... so I'm sure I'll sing a different tune when I've gone through it all, ha ha), by not doing something for 9 months... I will.
Doctors say one cup a day is ok. I gave it up entirely. I rather give it up completely than drink a little and have something bad happen. I've had an ectopic pregnancy and a mc this year so I'm being extra careful.
My doc said 400 mg a day. I asked her to repeat it because I'd always read 200 and she said I'm far enough along where I can have 400. Hallelujah. I have an 8 oz cup of coffee in the AM and one Diet Coke a day. So far, so good.
You're probably still under 200 mg. One Diet Coke is under 50 mg. and coffee tends to be around 100 give or take.
First BFP 12/2012, MMC at 9 weeks
Second BFP 6/2013, resulted in DS, born 2/23/14 :-)
Third BFP 5/2015, natural MC at 6 weeks
Fourth BFP 8/2015, hoping for sticky little brother or sister to H!
Proud SAHM to our little monkey H.

Yeah, I know... 400 was more than I drink normally but on those occasional terribly sleepy days, I might need an extra Diet Coke and this justifies that
My OB said it's okay to have 2 cups of coffee a day, or 200mg of caffeine. That being said, I only drink one large mug that equals about 2 cups (1 cup = 8 oz). That's just enough to keep me from ripping people's heads off.
I gave it up when I found out I was pregnant. They say a cup a day is fine but I figure if more than that isn't then one cup really probably isn't worth it either. I just figure why risk it, ya know? I miss it terribly, but all worth it for a healthy baby! Plus what is one cup going to do?!
I try to keep it until 200mg. For me that means one cup (like a large mug) or a cup of green tea in the morning and an espresso in the afternoon. I didn't moderate it at all with my 2 sons and probably had 2 cups a day, and I didn't have any problems.
I think its fine! Obviously dont buy like 10 starbucks everyday but yknow your morning joe is totally fine. ;D i am loke the biggest coffee nut in the world aoit was hard when i first found out not to have my usual intake but as soon as those aversions kicked in i was just not craving it. Im able to have some now as long as its made right!
Re: Thoughts on Coffee?
It's a boy! Grow baby, grow! EDD: 4/22/2016
I tried to switch to black tea in the first trimester, but any bit of caffeine turned my stomach.
BUT NOW, I'm about to enter the second trimester and I just drank my first half cup of coffee in months today!!
And it was damn good. "Reunited and it feels so good...."
As with all things magical, stimulating or fattening... Moderation is the key. I see nothing wrong with an occasional Cup-o-Joe.
