The closer I get to my scheduled c section date, the more I hate the term natural birth.
I honestly have to back out of threads because I have the overwhelming urge to tell people to go shove their natural births. Stabby. So stabby.
When people go overboard annoying about anything being "all natural" and therefore better for you, in my family the response is always: "All natural? Awesome. So's rattlesnake poison. Want me to get you some?"

My mother in law thankfully lives in California, and for some unknown reason, she wasn't coming to see the baby until December 28. Almost 2 months later. My husband has been fairly upset, rightfully so. It's her first grandchild and she is making no effort to see him when he's fresh. His dad and step mom are coming so it would just be nice for his mom to see him before Christmas.
So we just bought her plane ticket. And she is REFUSING to come. She is giving us every excuse under the sun of why she can't come.
At this point, she's being such a bitch I don't even care she won't see my kid, I'm pissed I may be out $300.
WHOA. What airline did you use? You might not be able to get your money back, but you might be able to get credit to your account that you just need to use within a year. Bonus points if you two (three!) make other plans for Christmas this year.
Spirit which is the absolute worst. I'm sure we won't be able to get our money back. They charge you for everything except breathing on spirit airlines so I won't be too let down if I can't get it back. We always fly with the airline I work for, but it was so expensive being this close to the date that we decided to use spirit bc of how cheap it was. The whole time we were booking it I felt like I was making a bad choice. I KNEW I should have trusted my gut (

Uhhh if someone bought me a plane ticket, I'm down! What is her deal?
Ready for it? She has a conference on Nov 16. We were flying her home on the 14th. If you're failing to see how that interferes with her conference then join the club.
Is she a speaker at the conference where she needs to write or prepare a speech? If not, I'm not getting it.

I usually don't mind the whole "nautral" thing, but when someone gets on their soap box and starts with "you can do it, don't be pushed into anything else, etc" it makes me want to throat punch them.
I ordered 3 sides of sweet potato fries at a business lunch yesterday. I'm just now realizing a day later that it may have been overboard and maybe awkward? In the moment I was completely unaware

Nope. She's a teacher. Attending a conference.
Don't get it at all. This is easier said than done but try not to let it get to you. The only one who has to live with the regret is her. Maybe you can transfer the ticket and use it towards a family trip. I believe a lot of airlines give you a year to use the ticket but there are probably transfer fees.
I had my follow up appointment today to check on my placenta previa, the placenta has not moved enough and they told me today I had to have to a C section. I cried the whole way home. I know I should be happy that the baby is doing great and I am having no other complications, but i have a fear of surgery and it is just feaking me out. I had a c section with DS also, but t then I only had about half an hour to panic between the time I knew I needed a c section and when he was born.
sorry that hear that. But a scheduled c section is usually much calmer than an emergency and think of the positives, like how useful it will be for childcare. And you'll know when baby's coming, that's priceless! I know it's upsetting but just try to focus on all the positives that come with it
@rbradshaw77 I'm with you!!! I'm hoping for a second vbac and the amount of people who ask if I'm having a section or going "natural", makes my blood boil! did you ever read the thread about "natural births?" I'm soooo against the term. Have a look for the thread, lots of us are just as stabby as you I think it's a ridiculously outdated term and i even pulled my doctor up on it, she said "do you know, I've never thought about that, I'm so sorry" and she promised to make more of an effort to say "assisted and unassisted". I hope she is! Not much of what we do is "natural" these days. Hope these ladies with "natural" births will be walking home bare foot (cars are hardly natural), with no vaginal tears sewn up (totally unnatural intervention) and not sharing their news with family via their smart phone (iPhone...natural right?!) ;-)
