No Appetite?

I am 10 days postpartum and my appetite is pretty nonexistent. Nothing sounds good, and when I do eat it's a struggle to finish whatever I'm eating at the time. I am currently down 20 pounds since delivering... And I didn't even gain 20 lbs during my pregnancy. I am just a little worried because I am breastfeeding and I know you're supposed to increase caloric intake, not decrease. Any suggestions on increasing your appetite? Or does this just pass with time?

Re: No Appetite?

  • I'm almost 3 weeks post and I'm the same way! I have to remind myself to eat and then nothing sounds good. Idk if it's the lack of sleep or what. Definitely weird though because I love my food...

  • Yeah I'm 3 weeks PP and I'm lucky if I eat a granola bar
  • I'm feeling the same way. I'm down 20lbs also but I have another 15lbs to go. I don't remember feeling this way after my first so I'm hoping it will pass. I'm pretty good at eating breakfast and then dinner. I'm usually too buy/ not hungry and forget about lunch.
  • My appetite was nonexistent for the first few weeks (in one month post-partum), but it's come back in the past week.

I drank a ton of Gatorade, bc it is really important to keep your calories and liquid up if you are breastfeeding. I also ate a lot of cookies and other high-calorie foods that I don't normally indulge in. Enjoy this time!
  • I am in the exact same boat! I have little to almost no appetite, 10 days pp. I know for breast feeding it is really important to have enough calories, but the thought of food repulses me. I can hardly keep up with my water intake because I'm so tired all the time. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one!

This has been my diet too!
  • I was but it came back with a vengeance after two weeks! I am bf too so I think it just caught up with me. (Gain 14 lb, lost 22 at 2 weeks, 6 days pp)
