11% Morphology?

Hi All-

DH has 11% Morphology and they would like it to be over 29%. However, I've read varying things about these percentages. All of his other numbers are good. Any thoughts about this?

Has the RE suggested any supplements for DH to increase those numbers?  How long did he abstain when he had the sample done?  How was his counts and motility?

We have the same issue, my husband has a minor vericolsis which causes this. I do have to say, less stress and less caffine has helped his number go up a little bit. It was at 22% for his last SA.

I should include his count and motility came back above where they want them. There are some suppliments he can take, but does not. The 1 thing he is not supportive with, and for everything I have taken in this process you would think he could manage a multivitamin. It drives me crazy.

His volume was 33 million (I think, not sure if I'm reading this right) and they want it to be above 19. His Motility was 64 and they want it to be above 49.

He does, and had been taking a multi-vitamin. Are there other supplements he could take? He waited the 72 hours before the test.

  • Zinc and COQ10 are beneficial for men's health and sperm motility.
  • Yes.  Your RE should be able to RX supplements to take that specifically target Morphology.  Are you doing an IUI?  All his other numbers sound great!!
  • We were going to do an IUI this cycle but decided to stick with TI for now. This is only our third cycle TTC. But I have PCOS, and then his low morph. I do know that I had a 27 mm foili and my OPK said I am ovulating. If I'm not KU this cycle we will for sure be doing IUI next cycle. I know it takes the 90 days for the sperm to regenerate, but I'd like to get him on a supplement now for next cycle...it can't hurt!! Fingers crossed I get a BFP, and we can move on.

Good luck on your Cycle!!! Definitely try some supplements and healthy diet anyway, no spas or boxer briefs. :) that will help.

Technically though, your DH is within the normal 'low' range (14-4%). Anywhere within that range has not been shown to impact the successfulness of IUIs. There are several articles on this you can find through some searches. :) Under 4% and you would need to try IVF (my DH has 2% and I have PCOS so we are doing IVF). But you have a much better outlook and should be successful! FX for you!

@vssbrm my DH was given the supplements and will not take them either.  Drives me Nuts, so I gave up.  He is supposed to take 6 a day, but he won't even compromise with 2.  He says it hurts his throat to swallow and he feels it all day.

::cherish~love:: Here is a picture of the supplements you can get DH.  It helps with quality, quantity, motility, and morph

TTC- since we got married (off and on)
TTC with focus: Since July 2015
Currently had 2 rounds of failed IUIs, failed TI monitored cycle
December 2015: Starting 1st IVF cycle
    January 2016: Retrieval

April 2016: BFP, the old fashioned way.

  • Thank you! I have read articles about the low morph, but they all seem to say something different...lol. From what I have gathered, like you said yes it's low, but not low low.
  • @babyexpress Thank you! I will check out these supplements for sure!
