@whitemn04, curious, have you ever tested 2 hours after eating something like a cin roll? I have noticed for me, if my medication wears off, my sugars will continue to climb up to 2 even 3 hours if I ate something with a lot of sugar or carbs. It could totally be that you were continuing to rise before lunch. Just a theory though.
Yes, I tested two hours after the cinnamon roll which was about 7:30 am. I go to work at 5. I ate lunch around 12:30 and tested two hours after that. For a snack I had a cheese stick around 9 so that shouldn't have affected me much if at all.
So my ob is taking pity on me and letting me be induced on Monday at 39 weeks. I'm diet controlled and she would totally let me go until 41, but I'm just done with this pregnancy. She let me pick the day I picked the first day that I could and I can't wait. Don't judge..
No judging. I had to beg for the 21st, it was the earliest she would do it. BUT, an awesome plus to our date is that's the date Marty went to the Future!! I am getting my husband a special shirt for the occasion!!!!
@FrozenMommy my husband REALLY wants the baby to come on the 21st for that reason. He would be jealous. We had our first growth scan today (36+1) and baby boy is measuring in the 88th percentile at 7lbs 4oz already. I asked how late they will let me go since he is so big and the doctor said that since we have no other complications, he will let me go until the baby is ready! Ugh. I'm so scared of having a really big baby at like 42 weeks.
@FrozenMommy@whitemn04 I was so shocked at my growth scan when the told me her measurements!! I was thinking 8-9 lbs, but 10!!! And a half!!!!
Also surprised me bc I have controlled my sugars pretty well. I only take insulin for fasting and only 10 units at that. I have never had a reading over 145 even when I ate "bad".
I feel like I have had pretty tight control this time around, and my biggest baby so far was 8 lbs 1, and I had way more highs with her. I mean I guess it doesn't matter since I am repeat C, but I'd like him to fit in all the teeny tiny NB outfits!!!
@mrsfaust1432, you know what. As much as it sucks to have surgery pending, it was actually SO much easier for me than labor. Labor was insane for me. I was induced, basically not dilating, and they had me pushing way earlier than I felt was right, so I was tired, in SO much pain, and blacked out from it.
When DD2 was breach, they said eh let's just do C instead of wait for her to turn, which actually kind of relieved me because I remembered that pain, having only been 11.5 months earlier lol. 25 mins in the OR and there's my baby!!! Holy Sh*T! That was easy. The worst part about it for me was later that night. The come down from those drugs was terrible. And of course babe was in NICU so I couldn't see her until I had gotten some rest and the drugs worn off. Spent the night wearing those leg pressure things too, that was annoying. But next morning I was able to walk and go see her. So the trade-off for C is the longer recovery time, but much much easier on you getting the baby out. I would take the C every time, hands down.
I suggest just rest as much as you can afterwards. Take the meds, and even keep your own track of when you can have them. I don't know why but my nurses would miss my pain meds at times, so I was writing down time so I was medicated around the clock. I suggest eating refried beans if they are on the menu too. That really helped with the gas and pooping afterwards. I ate them with every meal.
Don't stress too much about the weight estimates from growth scans. Just a week and a half ago, I was told DD measured about 7 lbs 1 oz. I expected her to be around 8 lbs by delivery but no, she's a teensy 6 lbs 14 oz and way too small for any of her clothes!

Thank you! It's funny that when you see others post about the weight estimates it is easy to say don't worry but then when it's ME and they're telling me my baby is big, even though logically I know the scan can be of 1-2lbs either way, it's hard to not worry. I am a worry wort by nature. We have a re-scan on the 16th and I am curious to see how the estimate changes. My levels have been pretty well controlled with diet and I have only gained about 14 pounds total for the pregnancy. It's just hard for me to believe he could be THAT big.
Alright so scan today puts baby at 7 lbs 3 oz, and the perinatal office says my fluid has gone up to 35!!! WTF? Last week at OB they said 22. Not sure who to believe there. The perinatal office also had me a week behind on my EDD, so they thought I was only 35.2 today, when I am 36.2. Told him delivery is 21st, and he said WHY? I said because that's 38.4! Oy. So discouraged right now, kind of want to crawl in a hole.
So I just got my results back from my GBS swab and I am group B strep positive. Any other GD mama's test positive also? I feel so bad because now not only am I causing my son to potentially ahve blood sugar issues, I am putting him at risk for GBS infection as well. :-/
Gbs isn't really a problem for the baby in utero! It is only an issue of you are delivering vaginally. Since they detected it (and 50% of the population has it) you will get a course of a antibiotics and you and baby will be fine! If you have a scheduled section, it is also a non issue! So many things to feel guilty about, but this isn't one, it only matters if it is undetected!
Ok I'm a lurker here. But I just got back from my Dr apt. I'm 37w4d and I have gd. I'm diet controlled and my numbers have been great and I have only gained 10 lbs this whole pregnancy. Well today I get checked and nothing is going on down there. No thinning, no dilation, nothing. So my Dr tells me if I'm not dilated at least 2 cm next week we're going to start taking c section. Wth? I'm a ftm. And now I'm freaking out. If everything is going good why are we talking about a c section? Ugh I just need to rant. I've loved my Dr until today.

See this is what I mean. Everyone's experience is so different and I really, really don't understand why. Like you, I am diet controlled, I've only gained 14lbs for the pregnancy. I had my 37 week appointment today and I have yet to have a pelvic exam. My doctor won't even talk induction let alone c-section. Do your doctor say why they would want to discuss c-sec?

Her only reason is because I have gd and that automatically raises the risk of c sec. It's frustrating because I feel like she's rushing me. Not all women dilate before they go into actual labor! My baby boy is low. He's aimed the right way, give my body time! Lol
Growth scan today estimated my baby at only 5.2 lbs! She checked the umbilical cord to make sure he's getting enough flow through it. At first she had trouble, got a second opinion and that all turned out ok. She's still a little concerned he's measuring small because I do have GD so I go for another scan next week. If he's not gaining like she wants him to she wants to induce at 39 weeks. I thought I was going to get away with not having to be induced but apparently they take small babies early too. Everything else looked good and a 6 lb baby is a normal size so I guess we just wait to see what next week brings.
Just so people know, my doc today told me these last few weeks are the MOST important for watching your diet and controlling sugars.
The baby can grow a lot at the tail end. After a couple of months of being careful and feeling frustrated I started to let myself cave into some sweets and carbs but now I'm going to watch it extra carefully!
I know @beanie1977, they are also the HARDEST time to control. I mean, they upped my meds so much, and stuff that I was eating just 2 weeks ago now with more medicine make my sugar higher. 11 days, I can do this damnit! They can grow 1/2 lb a week in a not GD mama, so I don't even want to know how much he could grow with me having highs every day. Still, I can't get that fasting down. 116 this morning, WTF?
So, I ran out of Lantus 2 night ago, and insurance won't give me more until tomorrow. So I made the decision to take NPH at bedtime instead. Wouldn't you know it, yesterday fasting of 96, today, FREAKING 84!!!!!!!!!!! My 3rd under 90 this pregnancy. I find that interesting, that she took me off a medicine that was working better, for one that didn't work much at all. Also had great meal numbers yesterday. So I am telling her I'm discontinuing the Lantus. That needle is too small it's not getting the medicine past my fat, and they told me I can't muscle inject, has to be in belly fat. Whatever. I wonder if going to bed super early last night helped? Either way, yay for an under 90 number, finally!
Oh, and my night time snack before bed both nights, and I kid you not, was about a 1/4 of a carton of NSA mint chip, and some almonds. Hmmm, gonna try that again tonight and see tomorrow.

I hope everyone's growth scans go well!
@FrozenMommy how was your first c-section? I'm getting a little nervous about mine coming up on Monday.
