STM Water breaking question

Re: STM Water breaking question

  • My water was broken at the hospital to start my induction. I wasn't dialated at all, and it was extremely painful because my doctor had to get way up there to reach my waters. I had a pretty easy delivery from there and that was definitely the worst part for me.

  • Mine broke 5 days before due date. It felt like a kick to the cervix then like I had peed myself. Contractions started maybe 1.5 hours later.
  • My water broke first thing at night about 1 am then no contractions for hours, stayed home then went to the hospital 24 hours later and baby was born 7 hours after being at the hospital I knew they would have given me a c section if I went right when my water broke so I stayed home till contractions got bad
  • With my first, my water broke at 40 weeks 1 day. I was sleeping and it just felt like I peed myself, then gushed when I stood up. About an hour later contractions started. With my second and third they broke my water at the hospital.

  • Contracted for 57 hours with waters in tact. Water was broken right after my epidural. It was Black with meconium.... And I was wheeled out for a c section immediately lol
  • My doctor asked if I wanted them to break them or if I wanted to wait it out (I was already in labor at this point, about 4 or 5 cm dilated) and I just told them to break it to help speed things up - and it worked - I went from the 4-5 cm to 10 cm and pushing about 4 hours later.
  • This is my 4th pregnancy. With my previous 3 the doctor broke my water each time. Actually my sister is the only person I know IRL that has had their water break at home before labor began. She said she woke up to pee and the bed was wet and she thought she peed in the bed and when she stood up more of a gush came out. Oddly I would like to experience it breaking on its own before going to the hospital this time. We'll see.
  • I would wake up every morning hoping I would wake up in a puddle because it would be a clear indicator of labor ... I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to recognize labor when it came otherwise.
  • I had contractions way before my water broke. It let like I had to pee. But as soon as I stood up a gush of fluid came out. I laid back down got back up and it happened again. It's different for every woman though. Of course.
  • With DS, my OB broke my water after I had been in labor for over 12 hours. It was a definite gush and then it just kept coming. My nurse was shocked by how much amniotic fluid was coming out. DS was born 2 hours later.
  • I woke up in the middle of the night/early morning at 41 +1 with light/irregular contractions. In the midst of dealing with that and texting my Doula, my water did "break." It wasn't the "fill your shoes" kind, like in the movies, it just leaked every few minutes. Like I was walking back to bed and more leaked out, then after sitting down and standing back up, more came out. (Hubby actually got kind of mad because I just stood there and let it make a puddle. My response - would you rather clean up a puddle or a trail?)

There was some meconium in the fluid by the time we got to the hospital, and baby wasn't actually born until the next morning (20+ hours after water broke). They tried to get me to agree to pitocin, but luckily, he came like 10 min after the OB basically threatened me with a C-section if he wasn't born in the next hour.
  • My water broke on its own with my first but it wasn't how I expected it to be. It actually happened after right after having sex when I was 37 weeks. I knew my water had broke but I wasn't still leaking fluid so no one believed me. It took them an hour to finally come check me and see that it had in fact broke and I was 5cm. Her head had dropped down and prevented me from continuously leaking fluid like expected. I even waited a while before going to the hospital because I wanted to shower and get ready and I wasn't having any painful contractions.
