Free stuff/coupons

I wasn't planning on buying formula and since it's pretty expensive does anyone know of any good websites for coupons and free stuff for baby stuff in general?

Re: Free stuff/coupons

  • Right now target has a coupon that if you spend $100 on formula, diapers and/or wipes you get a $25 gift card. Not so much a discount but the gift card is nice and you can stock up.
  • Loading the player...
  • @chelseajeanene ask your pediatrician for samples too!
  • Sign up on enfamil.com they send you like two cans free, and some coupons.... I think the value of the coupons is like $15 total. It's not much but it's a start.
  • @chelseajeanene ask your pediatrician for samples too!

This!! With DD2 our pedi office gave me like 10+ cans of powder formula!! She had an allergy and was on a weird formula that they had a surplus of though. But even when she was on just regular formula, they had me all the office to see when they had more to give me samples.
  • I wouldn't even think to ask to pedestrian but I definitely plan to at his next visit!
  • Similac Strong Moms will send you free samples in the mail, too, along with three $5 coupons. We got two cans in the mail and are still using the first can.

  • Do you have a WIC program near you. Look it up and they give you free formula as long as you take the baby for check ups there. We have them here in Chicago. Good luck.

*facepalm* I haven't had enough sleep to come up with a non offensive response to this. Babies are expensive, yes. Govt isn't always the first answer.
  • I agree - Similac strong moms are great. You register and get points every time you buy some...and then they send you more coupons. Add formula to your registry (you can add for 3 months after delivery). And use your completion coupon! Costco has a great deal on formula if you buy an 8 pack! Shop Rite had a sale this week - paid $33 for 8 32oz jugs after using Similac coupons! That's truly awesome! Lastly, register for other coupons as well (Gerber, Enfamil, etc). A lot of moms in your areas FB group will ask to trade, so whatever coupons you don't use you might be able to get some from them! Good luck!

Yeah, I knew that would go over like a lead balloon. The WIC program itself doesn't upset me. When someone asks where they can get coupons and try to save money, and someone's best suggestion is govt assistance, that upsets me. Because I'm a libertarian and the willingness of people to see nothing wrong with big government and their dependence on it frightens me. I don't invite politicians and bureaucrats into my life unless absolutely necessary.
  • For my personal situation I breastfed/pumped for over 3 weeks and I never wanted to give my son formula. I wasn't producing enough for him and fell into a bad PPD. I chose to use medication for it that I didn't want my son to be getting from my milk so I reluctantly gave us breastfeeding. Formula is expensive and I never fractured it into our budget. There is nothing wrong with women using programs like WIC that are specifically made for us. I am using it but when I signed up I was exclusively breastfeeding so I have to wait a few months to be able to change my plan for it. No woman should be looked down on for using WIC. It's a terrific program.

    Your ignorance baffles me.
You use money, don't you? That's big government.
You use the DMV. That's big government.
You have health insurance. That's big government.
You drive on roads that are kept up by the state. Where does the state get their money? Taxes, and the government.
Hate to break it to you sweetie, but your life revolves around "big government."

But that's beside the point. Of course you had to take a thread about saving money, prance in here on your high horse, and bring your political views into it.

This isn't a political forum darling. It's a pregnancy forum. Take your political views somewhere else.
Rant on your Facebook to your other libertarian friends. But don't bring it here.
I am FORCED to use all of those things, so that would fall under "absolutely necessary". As for money, I mostly use credit cards issued by private banks and pay online via a private bank website. My Health insurance is a private company through an employer (another private company). It's all REGULATED by the government, who screws up more than they help most of the time. So nice try. And who do you think this magical "government" is? They don't produce or sell any goods for profit. All funds come from taxpayers - aka your neighbors.

And I didn't bring up WIC. Someone else did. I Gave my opinion on that suggestion, SWEETIE

I like to save money, too. Who doesn't? I can't get WIC. If I planned to breastfeed and can't, where's my free formula?

To the OP - with my first, SimIlacsent me tons of coupons. They seem to be less forthcoming with them this time around. Not sure if they changed their program or just figure they already have me hooked.

  • @chelseajeanene I was at my pediatrician's today and they had a handout about asking if you could use store brand formula as opposed to brand name. And coupons available from Dr for those too. Also a good thought to ask the pediatrician.
  • The Target Carwheel app tends to have baby food/formula/etc frequently and you can use them with coupons you get in the mail or newspaper as well.
  • Definitely go to the website of whatever formula you're going to use and sign up for their offers. They will send you samples and coupons. And check out mom groups on fb, lots of times people are looking to give away their coupons or trade for the brand they are using. I think the bump may have a forum for that as well.
  • Just got something in the mail from babies r us. They're having a big sale on formula.
$10 any two enfamil, similac, or Gerber powdered formula.
    And
$8 off any two ready to feed cases of formula
    Similac
    Enfamil
    Or Gerber Good Start.
Also, if you spend $15 or more, you get a free 8 oz Dr Browns Halloween bottle. (It has a little pumpkin on it)
The sale goes from 10/1-10/31 and it's in store only.

    Hope this helps!

Wow, this will be my first and probably only post on this site....you're responses are so annoying and rude. You get on here and ask for help and then demean the ones who are just trying to offer ideas to help you with your situation. You don't know how weird you sound saying your bank account is empty ..... but then talking like you're just too good for wic. If your baby needs food and you're broke...then you gotta do what you gotta do..bringing politics into this is really silly and unnecessary
  • Ummmm, didn't she just say she's on WIC and defend it?
  • She didn't demean wic. She asked for advice, it was given. She said thank you to each person. The whole wic conversation was a separate issue, not brought up by her. And her only comment to it was to say her experience with wic, which was not demeaning in any way.

My post was to the jessica girl of this post not the person who posted before me.. I never post on here so I must have thought it was Jessica who posted last. Read the entire thread and u will see what I'm talking about

    They're the same person.
  • Reread my comment. I edited it. And read the entire thread like I said and u will see what I mean
  • I had read that part of the thread and just hoped it would go away. I only spoke up because you had said something to the effect of you get on here and ask for help and demean the ones offering solutions. So it sounded as if it were directed at OP.
I agree the parts getting into politics were unnecessary, but your comment sounded as if misdirected.
I was just saying @chelseajeanene has been very grateful for all solutions offered.

I'm not a fortune teller and couldn't have known you'd change what you wrote. Your delivery is quite poor. Stop telling people what to do.
  • Whatever rebecca. At the end of the day, I was just disgusted with the person who was being rude on this thread for no reason. It was weird for me to be reading everyone's help and then read someone trying to turn it into a political issue... stop trying to feel like your the one being attacked because your not. Geez. Like I said I don't participate much in these discussions so I made a mistake and obviously inadvertently directed my comment at the wrong person. You responded 2 seconds after I posted before I had a chance to edit it.
  • Chelsea I wasn't directing my comment at you. Omg. When I was reading the thread I made a mistake and thought it was the mean girl on here bashing wic so that's why I mentioned it...none of this was directed at you.
  • I assume you live in the US? I live in Canada and I'm not sure if it is the same there but here you can sign up with the Nestle website and they will send you a diaper bag with a can of formula and a bunch of coupons. It's not an immediate solution but it's still a free can of formula! They also will continue to mail coupons after the fact as well.

I'm going to check that out, thank you!
  • I'm also not sure if it's strictly canadian but you can sign up with P&G for coupons to be sent to you. Each month or so they send you an email and you choose the coupons that apply to you. Quite often there's baby related items like diapers and formula. If they don't apply to you, other moms will often swap.
  • My daycare lady prints coupons from www.coupons.com and gives me the ones she doesn't use. They always have baby stuff - diapers, wipes, formula, even gas drops sometimes. They are manufacturer's coupons so you can use them in addition to coupons you already have or store coupons/deals like Target Cartwheel (unless stated otherwise on the coupon). Some are really good - I had one that was $4 off a jumbo pack of Huggies diapers, which almost cut the price in half!
